This is just my opinion but I think "Obessed" would be a better movie if. . . .
 

This is just my opinion from seeing the previews for this flick but...

"Obessed" would be a better movie if Kerry Washington, Sanaa Lathan or some other African American Actress played the lead. I like Beyonce but she's not the best actress. Idria Elba is excellent and the crazy temp played by Ali Larter are going to have to play their roles for this movie to get anywhere. This is just my opinion from all of the clips and trailer previews but I will still support and go see the movie.

You KNOW you read a GRIP of people's minds, don't you? I was sitting on the couch watching that trailer thinking, "one of these things just doesn't belong here..." LOLOL

Ya'll are right! Beyonce couldn't act her way out of a paper bag. I really wish someone else would have been given the lead in this film.

When I saw the trailer I was just sure that she would be able to do something with this role (okay I was hopeful) then this part came:
"You think you crazy, I'll show you crazy"
She looked like Sasha Fierce trying really hard to act. She'd have been better off if she said:
"What you said? You aint no DIVA!"


At least it would come out harder/better.

That was actually less bootleg than I thought it would be, but not by much.

Definitely Beyonce looks a bit out of place in that cast.

Yeah, that one line turned me completely off...dare I say it?....Ghetto!!!! In that one moment she reminded of one of the little girls I knew growing up that would try to bully me by making a mean face and telling me they wanted to fight me after school...LOL!!!

I really would like to see this film, but I don't know how long I can sit through Beyonce trying to act.

I saw the preveiw for this movie while watching MGTJ and I was all into it (especially since my husband was playing the lead :p) and then she popped on the camera. And I was like :(

Bey needs some serious help - she need to sharpen her chops in smaller indie films (and with some lessons) because I can't think of anything I have liked her in. Seriously, I liked Solange in Bring It On better than anything her big sis has done.

Gabrielle Union evil eyed self would have done the role justice, I believe.

I'm going to play devil's advocate:

If you look at who is the executive producer (aka who helped financed the movie), Beyonce's name appears. Same for Cadillac Records (which I thought she was pretty good in, IMHO).

So if someone like Beyonce has to finance movies so she can be in them, imagine the struggle for other African-American actresses who don't have B's money to get in movie roles.

(And I know some of you will say that maybe no one's calling her and that's why she has to be in her own movies, but that's not really the point. Besides, she didn't finance Dreamgirls.)

Thanks for pointing out the executive producer credits for father and daughter. Now it all makes sense now.

BTW, I honestly thought people were giving Bey a hard time. Since then, I've seen the preview, and I believe I 85% agree: this would've been so much better with another actress. I just didn't get any crazy out of her "I'll show you crazy". It could've been straight up crazy that makes you cross the street to get away from crazy. It also could've been that subtle crazy that sneaks up. But she was flatter than the last opened 2 liter of Chek cola at the family reunion. :(

We'll see this weekend.

Me and Mr. Starfish keep looking @ the promo's like um Bey you don't look like you win not nar fight in this movie. You don't do crazy well, Gabby Union does it well and looks like she can fight if she had to, as well as Tarajii. But not you.

I want Bey to go sit down, get an dialect coach that will teach her how NOT to talk like she has marbles in her mouth all the time. Like HK said she should go be in some indie films to get her weight up. Everything she has done primarily she has been in a very visible role. You need to be scenery for a minute. The only thing I was glad about is that she is not singing (she isn't right:rolleyes:) in this movie.

And I don't think Sasha can do crazy either. :(

I didnt even fully read the post the first thing that came to my mind was...If Beyonce wasn't in it! LOL

Obsessed Review
 

Just came from seeing Obsessed. Good movie...better than I expected and Beyonce did her thing IMO. A "Fatal Attraction" for the new millenium. Just goes to show that sometimes movie trailors and previews don't do a movie much justice. I loved Idris also with his beautiful chocolatey brown self.

I just saw it also, and I was taken aback at how good to was. Of course the acting needed some structure, but it was good.

If she knew how to act, I suppose she would get more calls... n'est pas??:D

I thought the storyline moved along too slowly.

I actually saw the movie on Sunday afternoon and it was a typical suspence in the same venue as "Fatal Attraction" and "The Hands That Rock The Cradle" but go and see the movie for yourself so you can draw your own conclusions. :cool:

I saw the movie on release day. I was taken back because I thought it was good actually. When seeing the previews, I immediately, said ohhh beyonce. thiss is going to be another waccccck movie. =) I'm sure we've all seen Beyonce's movies, and they arent too spectacular, but I can say that this is one of her better roles. Overall, I really did like the movie. And sorry to forum crash as I'm not a member of Sigma Gamma Rho.

Hmmm, not sure if I should see this. I think I'll wait. I don't like Bounce-Head anyway so it's not a great loss to me.

As bad of an adult actress as Meagan Good is, she probably would have made the role believable because she has played in similar roles before.

She's currently on Heroes.

She also did Final Destinations 1 & 2.

The movie definetely could have been better.

The most emotion out of her was the hospital, and she could have did more in other areas..

The ending.. NO emotion....

I never saw "the hand that rocks the cradle" but my friend kept refering to that movie during this one.
