What song/video makes you cry?

hey sorors!

What video/song, no matter how many times you see it/hear it makes you sniffle? Here are mine:

VIDEOS
Aaron Hall "I miss you"
Everytime when he falls to the ground at the hospital, I start crying. Too bad he beat one of his baby mama's up in real life.

Brian McKnight "Back at one"
I love this video, but if my dead man comes back and whispers in my ear, i'm out da doe!
;)

Boys to Men "Down on Bended Knee"
When this movie premiered on MTV and homeboy took off he glasses cause he was crying, I was crying right along with him.

SONGS
"Stand by me"
I forgot who sings this, but I think of sorors when i hear this song.

Kelly Price
Just about all her stuff makes me cry :D

Old gospel songs!!!!

You want to see a balling QTE, just put on an old school gospel song(I like Kirk Franklin, but he doesn't make me cry). there is this one song that called "The Touch of Mama's hand" that almost made me fall out. If anyone knows what man sings it, PUH-LEASE tell me.

I got more, but I'm sleepy :(

I agree with all your selections Soror QTE! I can add a few...
that song off of Set It Off (can't think of the name), but it's w/ Brandy, and nem. and almost all the songs on Mary Mary's CD...especially Can't Give Up Now! When I first heard it, I started bawling like a baby http://www.plaudersmilies.de/sad/azcrying.gif cause I didn't get into medical school and I was feeling very rejected, but when I heard that song, it's like something came over me. I mean, every since I was younger, I have been a believer in God, but when I heard that song, it's like He had them to write it especially for me and I couldn't do anything except cry!

"This Woman's Work" By Maxwell

It makes me misty eyed because I remeber when I first heard it and broke down crying. For those who don't know, it's a remake from the film "She's Having A Baby" starring Kevin Bacon. In the film, Kevin Bacon and his wife are having a baby. The whole time they were trying to conceive and she was pregnant, he was wondering why he married her, and contemplating adultery.

Then, she goes into labor and has complications. He is sitting and thinking about how much he loves her and his unborn child. And, hating himself for having feelings of regret. This song is playing during this scene and it's enough to make a grown man cry, or at least a Classy Little Lady.

SweetestDiva 09-27-2001 12:56 AM

I cry at...

1. Who doesn't cry at "I Miss You"?? DeltaQT, if Aaron's abusive ways ruined it for you, I would have to say my impression was ruined when I saw the girl from the video half-naked on one of those 1-900 commercials.

2. "Fool Of Me" by Meshell N'Degeocello. Whoa.

3. "One Sweet Day"

4. Umm.. I don't know the name of the song. I think it's called "My Soul Is Anchored", and it's kinda old. I used to hear it every Sunday on the way to church with my daddy, and it always makes me think about him. Let me stop before the tears hit the keyboard.

And the number one make-you-wanna-cry, good-to-repeat-after-a-bad-breakup song is...

5. "I Can't Make You Love Me" - the one by Will Downing and some chick... MANNNN.

Mz. Sports Luva 09-27-2001 09:33 AM

1) Donnie McClurkin's Great Is Your Mercy (Track #10) from his new CD makes me boo hoo. That song is absolutely BEAUTIFUL.

2) Boyz 2 Men's Mama song

And don't laugh, but....

3) Still by Lionel Richie.

4) Just Because by the late, great Johnnie Taylor. I love me some Johnnie Taylor.

Do you mean the "Stand by Me" by Ben E. King? The song that was also used for that movie of the same title?? That song STILL makes me cry. *oh darling, darling, stand by me...oh, stand by me...*

DreamfulOne 09-27-2001 05:24 PM

I've done some more thinking about songs that make my cry:

My Help ~ Bam Crawford
Stand ~ Donnie McClurkin
It Wasn't Easy ~ CeCe Winans
Calvary ~ Richard Smallwood
Healing ~ Richard Smallwood
Jesus You're The Center of my Joy ~ Richmond Smallwood
Holy Thou Art Holy ~ Richard Smallwood

I'm sure there are others; however, most slow and worshipful gospel/contemporary christian song can make me cry...it has to be the anointing behind the people singing it.

DELTAQTE 09-27-2001 07:18 PM

yes!

That is the song girl! Just hearing the music at the start of the song makes me tear up, and then he starts singing:

when the night...has come....

Oh lawd, let me quit(tearing up)

That is such a soror song to me.

also a soror song:

count on me by Cece Winans(sp) and Whitney Houston

For those who are frequent posters to GC, you know how much I love music and you know I can cry @ the drop of a hat.

A lot of songs have been mentioned already but I will again have to co-sign on
A. I Miss You by Aaron Hall
B. Missing you -- Set It Off SOundtrack
C. One Sweet Day
D. Fool of Me
E. Something About the Name of Jesus
F. Love Me Today by Zhane

Others that have made me cry:
A. Changed by Tremaine Hawkins -- right after we found out my dad was terminally ill, someone sang tihs at church and I could not stop crying.

B. "BLESSED" "We're blessed in the city, we're blessed in the field. . . Late in the Midnight Hour God's Gonna Turn it Around . . . It's Gonna work put in your favor" -- The time it made me cry was one of my years of teaching and when they sang it the Sunday they did I had had a hellified week with students, parents, and administration and when they sang that last part, I just fell out.

C. THE BATTLE IS NOT YOURS -- Yolanda Adams

D. In The Midst of It All -- Yolanda Adams

E. That's Why I Praise You/For Every Mountain by Kurt Carr -- saw it danced and sang at the same time two years ago and since then, that is the IT song for me. After my house was broken into, I bottled up my emotion -- 3 months later I was riding in the car, playing the CD with tihs on it and I just became so open to this song.

F. Saviour More than Life to Me -- Kirk and the Family

G. So Good -- God's Property

H. More Than I can Bear -- God's Property, saw a Praise dance to this once that just struck me all over.

I. I Told The Storm

J. God Is by James Cleveland

K. Intro's Love Me Better

L. Faith's Reasons and You Don't Understand

M. The One I Gave My Heart to by Aaliyah

N. Fine Time by SWV

O. Mary J. Blige's My Life

P. There is this other song they sang at church (well more than one) but this one song said "healing is in his will) -- have no idea who sings it but it just touched me so much.

I agree with whoever said as far as gospel goes if the song has a message and just can touch that part of me that is hurting or can relate to the song.

GANGSTA LEAN was sung by DRS -- Dirty Rotten Scoundrels

PrettyPetite 09-27-2001 08:41 PM

My List

Songs won't really make me cry, but there is ONE. ONE SONG, that, to this day, will make me shed a tear.

Amazing Grace. They played this at my grandfather's funeral back in 1988, and ever since then, when I hear that song, I think of him. I was so close to him.

Other songs that I could say give me that watery eye feeling:

"Change Gon' Come"--Sam Cooke
"Mama"--B II Men
"Never Felt This Way" (acappella) Brian McKnight
"Fully Committed" (I can't remember who sang it, but I used to hear it every Sunday on the way to church. Hearing it now brings back major memories)
"Missing You" Brandy, Tamia, et. al (I never used to cry at this song, UNTIL I went to a young person's funeral and I heard it)

Don't know if this was said, but "Did you ever know that you're my hero" by Bette Midler

4eva-blsd 10-03-2001 11:14 AM

I concur, but I have to add one more. the title is "God Is." I don't know who sings it but it goes like this:
God is the joy and the stregnth of my life
He moves all pain, misery and strife
He promised to keep me
Never to leave me
He never ever falls short of his word...

There's more but I'll leave it at that. My church choir sang this at a woman from my church's funeral and I bawled like a baby. This was her favorite song.

It is one of my bawling songs as well. IT is sung by the late James Cleveland. I had them sing it at my dad's funeral.

I had forgot "Wind Beneath My wings" -- sung in Beaches.

deltagrl 10-05-2001 08:07 PM

My tear-jerker is The Storm Is Over Now by God's Property!!!! I heard this song for the first time when I was breaking off a long-term relationship and I didn't think that I could make it. The Lord bought that song to me and showed me that the realtionship was the "storm" and now that it was over I could trust him for the things I used to look for in that BUZZARD! Of course I don't have any hard feelings:mad:

sequel_1913 10-05-2001 08:28 PM

One that gets me is "Beyond The Veil" by Daryl Coley on WOW Gospel 1998.

carolyne 10-08-2001 09:46 AM

I cry every time I hear the Mississippi Children's Choir's version of 'His Eye is on the Sparrow'. That little boy just broke me down. I also cried when Aaron Hall released the video to 'I Miss You' because my sister was pregnant at the time and I scared me. Now, I cry tears of joy when I hear Jill Scott's 'The Way You Love Me'. It reminds me of how my husband makes me feel.:)

carolyne 10-08-2001 09:51 AM

I just thought of another song that makes me cry. It's by Howard Hewitt. I believe it's titled 'Amen'. It's the song that he sings to God. That song is so touching.

vanda 10-08-2001 10:11 AM

One song that makes me bawl at the drop of a hat is Minnie Riperton's " Loving you". I hate to even hear it on the new Visa commercial. Stevie Wonder's " All I do is think about you" makes me sad also. Others include james Taylor " Fire and Rain", " Sunshine on My Shoulder" by John Denver ( If you saw the movie, you'll understand), and that gospel song, I don't know who sings it but it's a woman giving her testimony and when she showed how she overcame each obstacle, she'd sing " I had a praying Grandmother. And the commodores " Jesus is Love."

joi 10-08-2001 10:25 AM

1. "Heart Break Hotel "by Whitney Houston
2. "One moment in Time" by Whitney Houston
3. "Greatest Love of all" by Whitney Houston
4 "Soul of a Woman" by Kelly Price
5. " Rain" by SWV
6. " Tommorow" by the Winans
7. " My Life" Mary J. Blige
8. "I Believe I can Fly" Yolanda Adams & Gerald Levert
9. "Hero" Mariah Carey"
10" Precious Lord" Vickie Winans
11" Can You Reach my Friend" Helen Baylor

c&c1913 10-09-2001 08:45 PM

I just saw Aaliyah's new video. I think it was one of her best. I'm sure the record company went all out for this video. It's sad knowing that we are watching the last days/hours of her life.

STL_Lady 08-12-2004 05:19 PM

1. The Sweetest Thing ~Lauryn Hill
2. Ex- factor ~ Lauryn Hill
3. My Life ~ Mary J. Blige

The songs that really get me are:

You Were My Everything - Jodi Watley
Hurts Like Hell - Aretha
One Last Cry - Brian McKnight
Silly - Deniece Williams
Thats What Friends Are For
For Every Mountain (for this I give you praise) - Kurt Carr

BLUTANG 08-16-2004 05:01 PM

Stevie Wonder - "You and I"
