I don't like the new facebook look

Boo, it's so cluttered now.

Glitter650 03-19-2009 10:48 PM

If I wanted to twitter, I would

Amen. I hate Twitter, and the new Facebook is cumbersome and icky.

I hope the powers that be actually listen to their users and change FB back to the old style.

:\

AOIIalum 03-20-2009 07:50 AM

Ditto. I enjoy Twitter, but don't need a "Twitterbook".

Leslie Anne 03-20-2009 08:28 AM

Don't like it either. Why on earth did they change it?

KSigkid 03-20-2009 08:39 AM

I really don't see the big deal...although I hope no one in this thread is the type of person who sends in nasty complaints to Facebook staff.

too late

nikki1920 03-20-2009 09:06 AM

I'm not fond of it either b/c I check FB from my phone at work. Now there is too much going on...change it back or give us an option to customize the page or something.

AGDee 03-20-2009 10:01 AM

I'm finding it humorous how many people think they're typing on someone's wall but it ends up being their Status instead. So, their status looks like a part of a conversation and I'm sure they didn't intend for it to be their status, like this:
We are well, thank you. Enjoying spring. Saw Mom and Dad this weekend. Have been going 1-2 x/mo. They are okay too How are you and yours?

LOL!!! I was thinking the same thing. HILARIOUS!!

agzg 03-20-2009 10:09 AM

I think I'm done with facebook, pretty much. It's gotten too much like myspace, especially in the sense that while my profile is private, I'm still getting message from people in Russia saying "hi, how are you? I need friend. I just want to chat ok?"

No thanks.

sceniczip 03-20-2009 12:25 PM

I've going on it less and less now that it changed. I didn't mind the first time it changed but this is just ridiculous. Half the time I can't even find anything! And I almost wrote on my own wall once lol

Senusret I 03-20-2009 12:57 PM

I like it.

deltadevil 03-20-2009 01:03 PM

I dont really care about the change. I will continue to use Facebook =)

I like too. I HATED the first design change. I would prefer the original but this will do

Unregistered- 03-20-2009 03:49 PM

People just don't like change. Everyone will get used to it, eventually. It's free, so who are we to complain?

In a perfect world, Facebook will go back to Beta. Everything was just so basic and easy to figure out.

PeppyGPhiB 03-20-2009 06:16 PM

I don't see what the big deal is either. On my home page almost everything looks the same as it did after the last change. Except now I can see more updates from more of my friends, which is a good change I think. If you are seeing stuff you don't want to see, do what I did and go into your settings and adjust them.

luv n tpa 03-20-2009 07:03 PM

I'm usually open for change, but the font size is irking me slightly. Maybe it's just me, but I prefer a smaller font. Now I feel like I should pick up one of those thick pencils you use in the first grade to learn penmanship in inch-high letters.

And I'm guilty of confusing my newsfeed with my friends wall. Now I just stick to using wall-to-wall. Still has my preferred font size and no confusion.

Jimmy Choo 03-20-2009 08:34 PM

I hate it with a passion!!!

FSUZeta 03-20-2009 08:37 PM

hate it.

I did kind of like that...but I keep my profile private anyways, so it's not such a big deal.

Exactly...there are portions of it that I don't like as much, but at the end of the day I don't think it's a big deal.

WinniBug 03-20-2009 09:35 PM

i miss the tabs at the top for status updates, photos, etc...now it's all jumbled together
i don't care about seeing so much about the quizzes everyone's taking

RU OX Alum 03-21-2009 12:52 AM

I liked how it was this is basically the same thing but the people you might know thing is lower

seriously, if you have an opionion, i'm glad were not "friends" or whatever that means to facebook

Oh it's not just that. If one of your friends sends a "gift" to a bunch of friends, it shows a status for every single friend they sent it to. TOO much crap on there.

I LOVED this format. I'm hoping they listen to their users and go back.

amanda6035 03-21-2009 04:26 AM

unless I havent figured it out yet, the only way I know to see a list of my groups, with highlighted info about new posts, and new members, is to click on settings and then click on groups from the apps page. I HATE this. I want a Link from my home page to view all of my groups, and if there is availability to set that up, i havent figured it out yet.

AGDee 03-21-2009 07:59 AM

You can bookmark the groups so that they show in the bottom left hand part of your browser all the time. I've done that with my favorite apps. I don't remember how I did it though. I also like to be able to go to all my groups quickly as the Crohn's group is a really good support group and I post it on it often.

I am annoyed by just how much is showing in the news feed and do wish we could configure that so we didn't see all the invites to apps and gifts to everybody that a friend sends out. I do want to see their status', photos, etc., but not all the other stuff

But that's the problem...you can't. I've looked -- don't need to see every quiz result out there -- but as far as I see, I can't filter the "junk mail" from the real content on my wall. It's all or nothing, and I don't like that.

If someone knows something I don't, PLEASE FOR THE LOVE OF DUCKS SHARE!!!

PM_Mama00 03-21-2009 02:25 PM

That's the link to apparently go back to the old one. I did the steps and it didn't work, so now I'm downloading Firefox (which I've heard is better than IE anyways). I hope this works.

eta: I couldn't get it to work.

I'm with you. I just can't make myself care enough to care.

33girl 03-25-2009 01:33 PM

I don't like it. We had a group for our chapter and friends that we kept open that I've had to close because things people were writing on it were showing up in their activity for all their friends to see. I didn't mind it being open if people wanted to investigate and find it but this is like putting stuff out on a silver platter.

Oh, and if facebook is going to make changes, how about these:
-A list of pending friend requests
-A list of who turned down your friend request. I don't mind if people do, but I forget who I sent what and I don't want to look like an a-hole requesting them over and over.

Buttonz 03-25-2009 02:12 PM

I hate the new look I really want the old Facebook back. I didn't mind the changes over the summer, but this is crazy.

DaemonSeid 03-25-2009 02:28 PM

It looks like Facebook may be listening

Facebook users haven't exactly been reticent about their dislike for Facebook's recent redesign. And Facebook staff want you to know they're listening.

Facebook has been deluged with feedback on its new layout, much of it negative but constructive, according to a blog posted Tuesday by Product Director Christopher Cox. Hundreds of thousands of people gave the redesign a thumbs-down in a user poll. And groups like "MEMBERS WANT THE OLD FACEBOOK BACK!" have formed to voice their discontent.

While the social network isn't reverting back to the old page design, they are making a handful of changes to appease some of the outraged masses, according to Cox, who has also worked as director of human resources and software engineer at the company.

Some of the changes already in the works include:

Live updating: Users will have the ability to turn on auto updating so they don't have to refresh the page to see what's new.

Photo tags: Facebook will add photos tagged with a person's friends to her stream.

Applications: Users will have the ability to cut down on the application-related content that's showing up in streams.

Highlights: This section in the right-hand column will update more frequently and show more content so it'll be more like the old News Feed.

Requests: Friend requests and event invites will be moved to the top of the right-hand column so they're more prominent.

Friends lists: Users will be able to create a new list of friends with which to filter their streams.

From the post: "Over time, we'll continue to give you more control over what's in your main stream and how you consume it. We have the eventual goal of building filters that summarize this activity so you can see a more condensed view of what's been going on. We're also thinking about ways of filtering out some of the Wall posts and content directed to specific people to focus more on posts shared with everyone."

I really like the live updating and moving the requests back to the corner. I think the requests at the top was my biggest beef with the new layout.

AGDee 03-25-2009 03:43 PM

Photo tags: Facebook will add photos tagged with a person's friends to her stream.

I know someone who is going to freak out about this. He had FB drama yesterday because one of the women he is dating posted pics of the two of them doing things together and tagged him. Another woman he is dating saw them and freaked out on him. Both women KNEW he was dating others too and claimed to be doing the same and claimed they were ok with it. Woman #2 went ballastic though, ranting on and on about how hurt she was. Kinda crazy. All because the pics were posted on HIS wall. If those pics had been in her stream too, yikes!

Not a bad idea. All the websites could use these feature.

Unregistered- 03-25-2009 07:30 PM

They just moved the Friend Requests back to the top right corner!

deltadevil 03-25-2009 07:47 PM

It seems like I have been getting a lot of friend request from people I dont know every since this change. Now thats strange

Thrillhouse 03-26-2009 11:47 PM

I want to see the status updates of my friends - not every damned thing that they post or every conversation that they have, what we have now is totally useless. I cannot count on seeing any of my friends items because the sheer volume of all the crap we get drives everything off the page in a very short time, and of course, no one can see my stuff. It is all spam and all useless now.

Yet..... I'll still continue to use it.
