Fall 2001 Lineup
If you have seen a new show, tell us about it and whether or not it's worth watching. If it's an old show, let us know if you noticed any changes. It seems as though all the shows I want to watch come on at the same time!
I saw "Philly" last night. Yes, I bought into the promos. I hope Kim Delaney can go back to "NYPD Blue". As I said in another thread about comedies, "My Wife and Kids" re-cast the eldest daughter, Claire. |
***From the "Crossing Jordan" thread***
lovelyivy84 Senior Member Registered: Apr 2001 Location: New York, NY Posts: 135 Crossing Jordan Did anyone watch this show? It contained a moment when I literally had to stand up and cheer. THe black coworker asks the white coroner out to dinner. She takes that as an invitation to a date and turns him down. What does he do? He laughs and says "I don't date white women." Sorors, I was on the FLOOR Seems like we hear that sooo rarely. Anybody feel me? |
I gave in
I gave in to all of the FOX hype and watched "Love Cruise"
I won't say it's bad, but I would have rather spent that hour getting a root canal. Why did they replace the daughter on "My Wife and Kids?" I really didn't appreciate that. The new girl doesn't even look like her. I liked her because she was darker than most little black girls that they put on television. I don't have anything against the new girl, but if they had to replace the old one, I wish they would have chosen someone who looks like her. |

Well I still go with what I said back when my Wife and Kids first came on...they trying way to hard. It still doesn't seem natural. But I will still watch and support the show. :) |
I can't believe they gave Bernie Mac his own show. I mean he's funny and all. But I dont know how long I can take that funny voice he's always making.
Premieres I can't wait for The West Wing- In two weeks Roswell The X Files ER- is that tonight? Someone let me know!!! Premieres I wish I hadn't missed The Practice Love Cruise |

Pasadena
Did anyone else watch it? I watched it last night while doing my laundry, it wasn't so bad, but it wasn't so good either. But it kept me busy why waiting for my clothes to wash.
I can't beleive I missed The Practice:mad: , even one of my professors talked about it in class !. I will be watching Part 2, but I hope the new Law and Order Series (Criminal Intent or something) isn't on at the same time. What's a girl to do? |
Law and Order and Law and Order: SVU are two of my favorite shows, but for some reason this new version just doesn't seem too appealing to me. Maybe two hours a week of any version of the show is enough for me. Just make sure you give us a review if you do watch it!

STEVE HARVEY FYI!
Quote:
Premieres Sunday, October 14, 8:00/7:00c A top-rated comedy on The WB, The Steve Harvey Show returns for its sixth season. This fall brings a new level of maturity as Steve (Steve Harvey, The Original Kings of Comedy) finally begins a committed relationship with Regina (Wendy Raquel Robinson, Miss Congeniality), while newlyweds Cedric (Cedric The Entertainer, The Original Kings of Comedy) and Lovita (Terri J. Vaughn, Eight Heads in a Duffel Bag) prepare for the onslaught of parenthood. |
"Alias"
Did anyone else watch ABC's commericial-free premiere of "Alias"? Just like "Philly", they hyped it all summer long. Yep. I bit again. However, this one held my interest a little bit longer.
|
I thought that Alias waa quite interesting and definitely an attention keeper. It was worth all the hype.

Sunday night
Ok the shows were pretty alright. I watched Law and Order: criminal Intent. It was okay, not as good as SVU or original but it has potential.
Is it me or is The Practice one of the best shows i've seen in a while? I swear I was almost in tears when they let Leonard go ( Go head Roc!) Also I watched UC-Undercover (on tape of course because it came on at the same time as The Practice and I do have priorities :D ) It was okay. I want to see who gets caught. |

I loved "Seinfeld", so I was eagerly anticipating "Bob Patterson". I laughed one time the entire 30 minutes.

Citizen Baines

Steve Harvey & Men, Women, and Dogs
First Steve Harvey is finally back on but I am really not feeling it. Is it just me? I am glad they finally got together and everything but I AM TIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIRED of Lydia, Romeo, and Bullethead. They were in high school when I was still in college.
M,W & D = Why does Bill have to be the HOE?!?!?! This show, well, hmm not my cup of tea but I might continue to watch it. |
Yeah, I just thought Men, Women, and Dogs was just okay. I may watch to see if it will grow on me, but it really did not do much for me.
Does anybody know what happened to "For Your Love"? I really hope they didn't take it off, but I have a feeling they did. It makes me mad that they never give decent Black shows a chance. If it is not an instant hit, it is pulled. But let a White show just be doing okay, and it ends up on the front of TV Guide with the heading "Great Show, No One is Watching". Whatever. Sorry to vent, but "For Your Love" was such a cute show. |
I agree

The Ananda Lewis Show
Has anyone checked out the Ananda Lewis Show? I've been a fan since Teen Summit, so I may be biased. I like her show.
|
The "New and Improved" Teen Summit??
Ok, BET decided to keep Teen Summit on the air for another season...but with the topics they have decided to put on the program..well, let's just say they could've canned it anyway...
The "premiere" talked about how you could "bling bling" without spending a lot of money and proceeded to show all these outfits which were far from inexpensive...I think an outfit that one of the host were wearing costs well over $1000...what teenager could afford something like that?...Is this the kind of message we want to be sending to our future youth? Bling-Blingin??? Competing against each other to see who has the best outfit?? I don't know if it's just me or what, but I was thoroughly disappointed by the program...there were some other topics on the show but I can't remember them all, but not one emphasized anything positive such as going to college, getting good grades, doing something positive in your communities, etc... Did anyone else see the "new and improved" Teen Summit? |

I was never a fan of Teen Summit even back with Ananda as host. I would watch it every now and again but it never held my interest.
However, from what MissKriss described as well as what I see in my classroom, this is true. Bling blinging is the thing to be in this day and age. Teen Summit is only going along with what Robert Johnson is promoting for BET. BET = Booty shaking Entertainment Television BET = Bling blinging Entertainment Television |
