What type of sorority are you thinking of?

AZ-AlphaXi 03-17-2009 12:56 PM

If you're asking about NPC (sorority) recruitment .. then no ... to pledge an NPC sorority you must be enrolled in the college or university where the NPC sorority chapter resides.

If you're asking about NPHC (and correct me if I'm wrong) .. then answer is yes, maybe. Some NPHC chapters are city-wide chapters and pull members from several schools in the same city.

KSUViolet06 03-17-2009 01:08 PM

To participate in Panhellenic recruitment, a woman must be a full-time student at the university where she plans on rushing.

For example: If I want to go through sorority recruitment at Ohio State, I have to be a full-time student at Ohio State. I can't be a full time student at Kent State.

Muff„n 03-17-2009 05:31 PM

the school this person attends is a technical schook and the city has a citywide chapter

knight_shadow 03-17-2009 05:35 PM

What type of sorority is this (NPC, NPHC, NALFO)? The terms you are using are sending mixed signals.

nphc, and what terms are you referring to?

Senusret I 03-17-2009 06:00 PM

"Recruitment" is not typically a term used by NPHC organizations. Anyway, your friend should look on the website for the sorority she wants to join and then contact whoever it says to contact. Or even call them.

One of your posts says recruitment, which is typical of NPC organizations. Your most recent post talks about city-wide chapters, which is typical of NPHC and NALFO organizations.

Just clearing it up in case someone wants to give some input.

ETA: Sen beat me to it.

Muff„n 03-17-2009 06:08 PM

ok, well now that we have established that is a nphc is it possible?

Senusret I 03-17-2009 06:09 PM

For goodness sake, just tell us what school it is and which org you're interested in.

Muff„n 03-17-2009 06:14 PM

no i dont believe it does

Senusret I 03-17-2009 06:24 PM

NPHC orgs don't take students who are not pursuing a Bachelor's degree, to my knowledge. I know Alpha does not.

Muff„n 03-17-2009 06:31 PM

thank u. but that is not a definite answer correct?

No.....OTW is curious (As I am) as to why all your posts are misspelled and use poor grammar skills?

Muff„n 03-17-2009 08:35 PM

well i guess u will always b curious then, now if u dont have an answer to my question then i blieve this convo is ova

agzg 03-17-2009 08:37 PM

You've already gotten the only answer you're probably going to get here, considering the fact that members of NPHC organizations don't talk about their membership intake processes online. If "your friend" wants further information, she will have to speak to a member of the sorority she wants in person.

This is typically the point when older posters get rude (referencing your post in another thread). Take in the answers you've been given and keep it moving.

Ditto.

Muff„n 03-17-2009 09:08 PM

i never wanted an answer regarding a specific organization, i believe i asked a general question. its when posters start to get rude and sarcastic that i get rude back. i dont believe anyone deserves to be treated the way that you guys treat people. so if me being rude to the ones that were rude to me make me wrong then so be it. i could care less. so thanx to those that were helpful, and screw the one's that weren't.

agzg 03-17-2009 09:10 PM

OK, fine.

DrPhil 03-17-2009 09:15 PM

Why were you all answering this person's questions? Geesh.

Why not, isn't that what they're here for?

knight_shadow 03-17-2009 09:29 PM

Nope. We choose to help people. We're not contractually obligated to.

Muff„n 03-17-2009 09:36 PM

ok well right now a certain few are choosing to be assholes, and u chose to add a non-informative post. who cares what your obligated to do, the purpose of this is to ask questions and to get answers that can be given and you are doing neither, so thanks for your input.

Really? You've been on the site for one whole day and you're an expert? Nice.

I guess I've been misinformed for the past 6 years. Maybe we should change the name of the site from GreekChat.com to GreekHelpthosewhodon'tknowhowtodoresearchthemselve s.com

Anyway, good luck to "your friend." Hopefully she conducts herself a little better than you do.

How's that for input?

this is exactly why i wouldnt join one of these organizations. i couldnt deal with the constant disrespect. you guys think because you are already "in" that you can talk to others with an "im better than you" type of attitude. the info that i was seeking today was only to try and help a friend out (if you know anything about that). so thank you for your "input" but it is no longer needed.

Awesome :)

Senusret I 03-17-2009 09:49 PM

To be fair, we it's not the organizations which give us the "I'm better than you" attitude.

It's the natural superiority we were born with. :)

agzg 03-17-2009 09:50 PM

Seriously. Just stop. You got as much of an answer as you are going to get online. If you don't like the way people are treating you on this site, stop feeding into it and stop posting in this thread.

"Defending yourself" is just going to make it worse, seriously.

Then why I haven't you left yet?

KSUViolet06 03-17-2009 10:21 PM

Oh goodness. I really fail to see what the issue is here.

You have gotten 2 very polite and informative answers to the questions you were asking.

NPHC orgs do not offer membership to those who aren't pursuing 4 year degrees.

Neither do NPCs.

I fail to see where anyone is being rude.

If you think that's rude, you have some real sensitivity issues.
