Requiem for a Dream - the whole freaking movie.

Any scene in anything involving electroshock treatment or spit/saliva.

I've seen I, IV, and V. On my first date with my current boyfriend we went to see Saw IV. I told him I was gonna pass out. He just kind of shrugged it off. The opening scene was an autopsy. About 10 seconds into the movie I got light-headed, I was sweating, and I had to put my head on his shoulder to keep from blacking out. He said after the movie, "I didn't think you were serious!" Not so funny at the time. Hysterical now. :D

Sidewalk scene in AHX was definitely awful.

Kill Bill when she slams some guy's head with a door repeatedly.

Basically anything with slicing/cutting or any violence to someone's head in any way, shape or form will pretty much make me cringe.. and pass out 95% of the time.

KSUViolet06 02-24-2009 02:56 AM

The majority of Sweeney Todd (anything that involves him, um, shaving someone). The blood got to be a bit much in some parts. I love the musical, but I seriously had to shut my eyes during the scene where he is singing, and it shows him slitting like 5 people's throats. Ugh.

Pretty much the only reason that I saw that movie was because his first name is my last name. :p Didn't really know what the whole thing was about. Found out quickly. Thankfully I rented it and didn't see it in the theater :)

Ugh sidewalk scene makes me cringe thinking about it.

Passion Of The Christ, when they are whipping him and his back is all cut and bloody.

Yeah, that entire movie made me cringe. Also, had the displeasure of watching some 70s movie called Cannibal Holocaust. Let's just say, CRINGE. Also saw another 70 movie called Last House in the Left or sumething like that. Rape scene was just brutal. And now I've herd that they're going to remake it.

Along with the scene in Hills Have Eyes (2006 remake) where they rape the girl and set the dad on fire.

Agreed.

- Kill Bill 2 - When Uma ripped out Daryl Hannah's eye (not TOO bad, but still...)
- Urban Legend - When the dean is in the parking garage and has the back of his feet sliced
- Hostel - Again, when the blonde guy's feet are sliced. When the Japanese girl's eyes are burned. When one of the character's leg has a hole drilled into it.
- Hostel 2 - When Heather Matarazzo's (sp?) character is hanging and the woman is scratching her back with the blade (the actual cuts didn't bother me -- just the time when she was "warming her up"). The ending scene :(

ITA! I cannot stand spit. So that would include the spitting in Titanic, the loogies in Big Daddy, etc. I'm gagging thinking about it.

- The ankle smashing in Misery.
- The rape/beating at the beginning of A Time to Kill (and then I cry all over again when it is retold in the courtroom at the end).
- The woodchipper in Fargo.

Senusret I 02-24-2009 10:54 AM

The "birth" scene in Aliens vs Predator: Requiem.

Saw an ad for it last night. Didn't realize it was a remake, but I thought from just a trailer where you couldn't really tell what it was about that it looked kinda good.

The Exorcist is my favorite horror movie and I've seen it over and over again. And have the limited edition DVD. The vomit scene makes me cringe everytime.

It was split pea soup. I love split pea soup...but damn.

I just saw Quarantine last night. I liked it. The night vision scene at the end made me cringe. And I don't scare or gross out easily.

Battle Royale is one messed up book/movie/manga.
Clockwork orange and the rape scene from Irreversible. :shudder:

that rape scene made me cry. i'm a really big fan of old horror movies but i wouldn't even consider that a horror movie in the traditional sense.

a remake of that movie is just wholly unnecessary. i generally hate remakes because they try to get all glitzy and effects oriented. this particular movie was so horrifying because of its low budget and because they didn't "separate" you from the violence and brutality of that rape scene. it was real. it SHOULD make you cringe and want to look away. i just feel that by remaking it they can separate the viewer from the reality of that scene with effects and make and make it look like rape is cool. it only serves to show yet more disturbing, sexualized violence to another generation...

I'm glad you typed that because I had a soapbox about remakes.

90%+ of horror movies are remakes and mostly unnecessary remakes. I want writers and directors to get their creative juices flowing and give us some NEW, good stuff.

OneTimeSBX 02-24-2009 07:26 PM

I hate gore...that is the one thing that ruins a movie for me. Saw movies = waste of my time even though the story line was good.

anyone seen Black Hawk Down? the guy had an RPG hanging out his side...that whole movie made me queasy, so did Saving Private Ryan...

AGDee 02-24-2009 07:44 PM

Hannibal, the dinner scene... the skull.. I can't even describe it! But, that moment that you realize what's for dinner... ack.

In a nutshell (spoilers)

It's about 2 girls being raped and killed by escaped convicts. The escaped convicts then went to a house, who happen to be owned the parents of one of the girls. The parents find out these convicts raped and killed their daughter and went on a killing spree on the convicts. See the 70 version, very powerful, very raw. Does not gloss over the rape scene and you feel sick to your stomach watching it. It's Wes Craven's early movies.

AOII Angel 02-24-2009 10:10 PM

How about the outhouse scene in Slumdog Millionaire....ack, ack...excuse me while I go vomit!

phisiglindsey 02-24-2009 10:30 PM

It's hard to even read some of these posts because I'm reliving the terrible movie scenes! The one that's getting me the most though is definitely the sidewalk scene in American History X. OUCH!

tri deezy 02-24-2009 10:54 PM

The sidewalk scene in American History X is the perfect example. Anytime I think about I have to thinking about something happy and pretty or go to cuteoverload.com because I can't even handle it. There are so many scenes that I can't handle but I still like gore in general. I think the gore that is less realistic is easier for me to watch, though. Any scene in which animals are abused or hurt is heart-wrenching to me. For some reason, it has more of an effect on me than abuse or hurt on people. Maybe because the animals have no idea why they are hurting or why people are being cruel to them. Of course this happens to children too, I can't explain it.

I've heard too many lectures on Lincoln this week. I was just thinking how really weird that movie would be if the main character's name was Mary Todd...

Cannot stress this enough: if you get the chance to see the 1970's version, PASS!!! I had nightmares for years over that movie, and probably will again tonight.
Men will cringe over one scene in particular; most will be grossed out over the whole thing. Even though the beginning is cheesy, it's horrifying.

I don't know how the guys on here feel, but my friend & I went to see Sin City with her guy friend and I thought he was going to throw up right there in the theater. There are quite a few scenes where this or that character's "family jewels" get pretty badly abused.

fail.

Next, 300...yikes

PeppyGPhiB 02-25-2009 01:03 AM

Saving Private Ryan, when the Nazi pushes the knife through the American's throat.
Grindhouse: Planet Terror - there are a bunch of places in that movie that are just gross, but I find the beginning parts, when the sick people start coming into the hospital with puss-oozing sores, to be especially gross. When Josh Brolin squeezes one on a patient's tongue and it pops all over his face, I want to gag.

ANY scene of the remake of the House Of Wax.

ASUADPi 02-27-2009 12:43 PM

A Time to Kill- the rape scene, enough said

Black Hawk Down- when Shugart and Gordon are killed and the Somali's drag their body through the streets

Saving Private Ryan- the entire first 30 minutes of the movie

The Green Mile- the botched execution

Rock Star- when Mark Wahlberg is getting his nipple pierced. That is just total cringe worthy to me.

That was quite terrible. I also remember watching "Masterpiece Theatre's - A Town Like Alice" and Bryan Brown is also whipped and beaten. It's quite awful.

Pretty much any rape scene is disturbing and upsetting for me. The "A Time to Kill" one is particularly awful as it involves a young, young girl.

As for "cringing": "Nobody puts Baby in a corner" from Dirty Dancing...need I say more?

Same with What's Love Got to Do With It?

The first store scene in Cabin Fever.

The scene in 24 Hour Photo where Robin Williams' eyes explode (or something, I hid my face so I can't really describe it accurately).

OMG. I know EXACTLY which part you're talking about. He's like dreaming or something, and his eyes just all of a sudden start BLEEDING. It's really weird. I HATED that movie. It was so creepy. I wanted my old Robin Williams back (a la Patch Adams or Mrs. Doubtfire).

Can't believe I missed this one. Anything with burning is a huge weakness for me. Holy crap, when his eyes turned white... ahhhhhhhhhhh! I was freaking out. It's something that scares the crap out of me but I can't stop looking. It scares me so much I'm fascinated by burning. Oh god, thinking about it makes me feel weak in the knees. Also, I want to agree with the Saw movies... duh (furnace scene, guy burning, holy cow.) And Hostel.

PM_Mama00 03-12-2009 01:21 AM

How could nobody have mentioned...

Brokeback Mountain.

Nothing against homosexual sexual relations, but... um... ouch?
