A-Phi Poetry/Songs (Faves?)
Anyone have any favorite A-Phi poems or songs? What are they?
Has anyone made up one of their own? Do you want to share? I, personally, love "Green, Green," "Lovely Girl," and "Alpha Phi Sweetheart." How about you? Let's get this forum ACTIVE!! :D Alpha Phi Love, Jen |

One of my favorites has to be "Oh I am an Alpha Phi!" You could probably tell though. I also love "All I Needed" and "With an A".
|
Hey alphaphichick- I've never heard of a chant that ends with "1872!" How does it go?
|
I've not heard of the "1872" chant either. Please let us know! ;)

I love some of the non-public new member songs that we get to learn. I also love "Eppo." :)

I forgot one of my very faves...
I love the song "Linger." It is just great!
|
One I wrote...
I'm not a poet to be sure, but I wrote this one... :)
Jen Who Is She? Who is she? She's an Alpha Phi. Everyone knows Alpha Phi, The one the girls all want to be. She's got such style, she's got such grace! And don't forget her pretty face. Nobody can forget an Alpha Phi. She's got charm, she's got smarts, She's the one boys keep in their hearts. Of course, she's an Alpha Phi. There's been none like them in history, Just one look and you will agree, There's nothing like an Alpha Phi. So who, you ask? Just who is she? There's no question, she's an Alpha Phi. Alpha Phi: the best sorority! --Jen |

Thank you!
Awwww thanks ya'll for the support. I was kinda nervous to post it. I was afraid you'd think it too corney. I can always count on my A-Phi sisters for support. Thank you! :D

Great job TechAPhi! I love your poem! :)
My fave Alpha Phi songs are: All I Needed and El Shaddai. I esp. love El Shaddai: Fave excerpt... "...With our union hand in hand, We'll spread our love across the land. Alpha Phi, Alpha Phi, A friendship for eternity. You're the only one for me, Alpha Phi. " AOE |
One of my fellow alumnae sang "I Will Remember You" at our Pref Night. Actives and rushees were bawling! It was so beautiful.
I also love "The Lily". As a small, struggling chapter it held a lot of meaning and always will be significant to us. Whenever I hear it, I remember the hardship we as a chapter had to endure. We're kicking butt now though! |
As far as poems go, I'll always remember the "Alpha Phi Experience" from my own Pref Night. I still get chills when someone reads it! :D

Looking for songs...
Hey all! I am an Alum and many from my day (late 80's) stay in touch and often try to go to our collegiate functions to help out the current members with rush and other events. Since we are all getting OLD and loosing our memory (if you don't use it you loose it) in regards to songs and traditions, it would be helpful if you have song lyrics (new or old) that you can email to me I would like to make a songbook for not only our use to stay updated, but also to teach the collegiate songs that we might not be knowledgeable of. Any help is deeply appreciated. You can email me at etxgal@hotmail.com . Thanks in advance for your help on this!!

Not quite a poem...
...but the 'essay' What is a sorority? is always a sentimental and meaningful read...Have read it and sent it to many sisters...If you'd like a copy - kinda long to post here - PM me and I'll send it off...
Some - Time to the tune of Ice Castles and the song (can't rememebr the name) tune to Somewhere Out There...I feel the tears welling up as I type - LOL! Oh yes, Edelwiess is soooo traditional....I can still sing it after all these years - '87 initiate...And knowing the original history of the song Edelwiess makes it a bit more special... I was fortunate enough to find and purchase the very first A-Phi song book published in 1892 (or 1897???) and the songs are sooooooo different but as always the sentiment and love is still the same. |
I would LOVE any resources you can give me. My personal email is etxgal@hotmail.com if you would like to send it there. I just built a Yahoo group (PRIVATE by invite only so confidential stuff remains just that) for our group of Alums (and possibly the collegiates to pending group approval) for a shared resource on stuff like this. Thanks so much for your help. :)

Funny, our version is kind of different. Funny how things change and the words get lost or added to over the years. Kind of like that game we played as children whisper...and at the end the words would be completely different!
APhi Love and Mine\ |
"Lovely Girl", "A, A, Alpha Phi", and of course "Hottie Tottie!"
|
Alpha Phi Love, Eppo, and All I Needed!
