Survivor: Tocantins

I'm an early fan of Sierra's. Sure she had strep and got the early vote-off, which of course wasn't a real vote-off. But she built the whole shelter herself while sick and just seems like she's going to be fun.

Definitely a fan.

Interesting to see that there appears to be no exile island. Kind of had gotten used to that.

ASTalumna06 02-13-2009 03:23 PM

I knew that the first vote wouldn't kick them off. It just seemed too ridiculous. When I originally heard "a vote on first impressions," I thought they would be at camp for a couple days and then both tribes would have to kick out one of their members. But to travel all that way and to get rid of someone before they did anything seemed crazy. There's always a catch on Survivor!

I'm not surprised by who they voted out. I would have done the same thing. Carolina was holding them up in that immunity challenge and those are the things you have to win. And I can see why people thought she was annoying, but saying that you have to build shelter didn't seem to be a crazy concept to me. Why was everyone getting on her case about it?

And yes, props to Sierra for building shelter. Wasn't it Coach who said that she's still going to be the first to go? That's ridiculous.

And Sandy... if you're going to claim that because you're older, you're wiser, please learn was '10 paces' means before you go on Survivor. Thanks.

THANK YOU (@ bolded)!!!

I don't think she knows what a palm tree is, either. Bless her heart - she's giving Louisville a bad name. Part of me thinks she's gotten a crappy edit; I guess we'll see.

As soon as she decided to look for the idol instead of building the shelter, I figured her tribe would boot her as soon as they got the chance. I was a little surprised when they voted out Carolina.

Oh, and I didn't realize there wouldn't be an exile island. Have they previously sent someone there this early in the game? (Meaning, they could still have it, it just hasn't come into play yet.)

srmom 02-13-2009 06:32 PM

Always the interesting twist ;)

So far, I don't hate anybody yet, but not knowing what a pace was, nor a palm tree, was pretty dumb. I like her though and am surprised she didn't get the boot!

Debra (Debbie) is an Alpha Gam from EIU from the mid 80's.

She looks smokin' hot for 46.

I had been told by a big squirrel that we had a sister on this season's show, but she could not remember her name at the time we were talking. I did a search at member services and couldn't find her... thanks for letting us know!

KDAngel 02-20-2009 03:07 AM

SO glad Sierra stayed another week. And while that chick that was voted off today may have been annoying, I would have kept her around. She seemed to pull her weight at the challenge.

SydneyK 02-20-2009 09:52 AM

I'm not liking Coach much - I would've been happy to see him go last night instead of Candace.

I love the Exile twist! I think Taj and Brennan (? is that who went with her?) have a great strategy to try to get themselves sent there again. Did Taj tell her tribe that Brennan picked the bottle with the clue, and she has no idea whether he found the idol or not? I'm only asking because I remember dude telling his tribe that Taj picked the bottle with the clue and he let her wander off alone to search for it. I just wondered if they were both leading their respective tribes to believe something that isn't true, or if only Brennan was.

I like these two people, and I would like to see their strategy of the half-blind 4-way alliance work.

ASTalumna06 02-20-2009 09:54 AM

I didn't really like Candace, but I agree, they should have kept her.

I thought the whole Exile Island thing was interesting... and I love how Brendan lied and said that only Taj got the clue to the location of the HII. And wasn't he the one that Sierra enlisted to help her find the other one? If so, he definitely has a leg up in that respect.

I almost see Coach as being another Ace. He's definitely starting to annoy me.

Now that they went to Tribal Council, Sierra's HII, if she should find it, it worthless. The clue said it was only good the first time they went to TC.

Oh, ok. I must have missed that.

AGDee 02-20-2009 11:14 PM

I wondered if it isn't the same HII that the other women were told about. The clue said it was in their native tribal land or something like that.

SydneyK 02-27-2009 12:15 PM

Sad to see Jerry go last night. I have a soft spot for military folks.

I didn't get to see the previews for next week - did they show anything regarding Taj and the HII at her camp? We know Brenden found his, it'd be interesting to know if Taj found hers.

ASTalumna06 02-27-2009 01:35 PM

I was sad to see Jerry go, also. Especially with Erinn smiling the entire time. She is really starting to piss me off.

I'm glad Brendan found the HII. I'm anxious to see how this is all going to turn out with their secret alliance. I wonder if the other two people will go for it... and if they'll all be around long enough to see the merge.

Quote of the show:

Tyson: "I love seeing people cry when you crush their dreams."

ASTalumna06 03-06-2009 02:54 PM

I am hating Coach now. He's extremely annoying. And he thinks he should be the leader, because apparently he looks stronger than Brendan? Get over yourself! It's Survivor. Who cares?

I'm anxious to see what happens with the secret alliance next week. I'm hoping it doesn't fall apart.

I wasn't too surprised to see Sandy go. I wasn't too upset about it, either. I do, however, think that she was doing well in the challenges, but that probably couldn't make up for how annoying she was back at camp.

And Tyson is officially my favorite. His commentary is hilarious.

Oh, and can someone get Sierra some underwear, please?!

Is that why they were blurring her? I couldn't tell if she was sporting a wedgie or a thong or what. I didn't realize she was going commando this whole time!

I'm right there with you about Coach. And the fact that he has ditched his real name to be called Coach makes me like him even less. I'm hoping he goes next.

I don't know, but they blurred it out when she was sitting on the beach talking to the camera, when she was walking, when she was running in the challenges, etc. Even if she was wearing a thong, I don't think they'd have to blur it out THAT much.

And speaking of when she was sitting on the beach.. even if you're wearing some kind of underwear, you don't sit with your knees bent and brought up to your chest when you're wearing a dress!

The increased nudity on this show is getting out of hand. :o

AlphaFrog 03-08-2009 12:11 PM

I'm glad Sandy's gone - she reminded me (as in DEAD RINGER) for the Admin Asst we just let go for being batshit crazy.

SydneyK 03-13-2009 02:35 PM

I sure wish Timbiria (or however it's spelled) would've lost the immunity challenge. I'm so ready for Coach to be gone.

I was actually hoping that they won last night. Only because I think they would have been inclined to vote out Brendan at this point. Next week, though, it seems like people might become more annoyed with Coach. He definitely needs to go. He's such a jackass. And we need a blindside soon!

srmom 03-13-2009 05:35 PM

did they say last night that it wouldn't be on until a week from Wednesday? is it because of college basket ball?

I agree, I was worried they'd vote off Brendan, and I want the 4 way alliance to work. I was also a bit worried when Taj didn't use her idol, because a lot of talk was about her, but I guess it was editing. She must have known she was safe and that everyone was voting as a block for that Gator boy.

No new episode for three weeks, due to the NCAA tournament. (Not that I'm complaining about hoops to watch.) The one a week from Wednesday will be a clip/recap show.

Agree all the way around.

BTW, I've read on a few sites that Spencer is dating Todd, the winner from a season or two ago. (The seasons are starting to run together.)

THAT'S HILARIOUS!!! (True or not)

Considering the history that openly gay people have had on that show (minus Chet, who ASKED to be voted out), I wonder why Spencer decided to not come out? I understand JT probably would have not been his ally because of it, but I don't think he would have rallied against him HARDER because he was gay.

I had a dream last night that I was on Survivor. My husband was also on the show, and I was on a diet and refusing to partake in all the rewards my tribe was winning. It was also being filmed in a school. W.T.F.?

Going through Survivor withdrawl, AF? :p

ASTalumna06 03-30-2009 01:09 PM

I once had a dream I was on Survivor. But our only source of food was... the people we voted out of the game.

Finally got a chance to watch last week's episode last night. Was it just me or did it really look like the editing is setting up Coach and/or Tyson for a major fall?

Please don't be toying with us. Please don't be toying with us. Please don't be toying with us.

I know. Sadly, I know. But it was just so over the top for Coach that I must hold on to hope.

Of course, the fall that the editors set us up for may just have been the cancellation of tribal council and the resulting unraveling of their plan to blindside Brandon.

I've never been as sad to see a tribal council cancelled due to injury as I was last week. And, just to be clear, I wasn't sad because I liked the guy who left (I can't even remember his name); I was sad because it would've been a reallllly interesting TC.

Oh, well. I'm just going to keep telling myself that the longer Coach stays on the show, the more disappointed he'll be when he's voted off. His exit interview, whenever it is, will be fantastic.

And even if he makes it to the final 3, there's NO WAY he's winning that million dollars. Unless he's up against two equally obnoxious people.. but I really can't think of two who would fit that description.

I dunno...I think just about everyone this season is obnoxious in some form or fashion [notice how that keeps me from watching every week when I should be at choir practice :p]. In this case, even thought I kinda like her, I think Sierra would lose to Coach. But that would only be in a Final 2 situation. And if Sierra and Coach end up in a Final 2 situation, I'm never watching Survivor again.

Obnoxious, yes. AS obnoxious as Coach? I don't know.

My favorite right now is probably Stephen. He's so sneaky and playing every side and no one suspects anything. It makes me laugh.

I think the drama will boil even more now with the same thoughts and give more time to scheming that this next will now be BETTER thanks to the injury... can only hope, right?

And Sierra is annoying, but nowhere near as much so as Coach.

I hope you're right! I won't get to watch tonight, but I hope it's juicy anyway.

I don't know that I have a favorite player at this point. I initially liked the idea behind the blind alliance, but I think the novelty of it has worn off (that is to say, I can't think of a good reason why I don't want to see it work anymore). I'd like to see more of Tyler and Deb, so I'd hate to see either of them go any time soon: Tyler always says the most hilarious things, and Deb has some serious spunk and likeability. I think when it comes to gameplay, though, Stephen is probably the best Survivor out there. At least, it appears that way to me based on the editing...

AGDee 04-16-2009 12:11 PM

Have we mentioned that Deb is an Alpha Gam?

ETA: Yeah, we have :) Nevermind!

I've seen speculation that Tyler is positioning himself as a "quote factory" to get as much screen time as possible.

And if I had to guess, I just might put my money on him to go tonight.

I wouldn't be surprised if this were true! Some of the things he says are so outlandish that I can't believe he actually means what he's saying. It doesn't prevent him from saying it, nonetheless. You know, both Tyler and Coach bring "flavor" to the show. I'm trying to decide why Tyler's flavor is more palatable than Coach's. Maybe because Tyler can't actually be as terse as he seems, but Coach can definitely be as egotistical as he seems. I dunno... I'm open to ideas here.

LOL. No, I don't have any spoiler information. Pure guess. I'm going with what I think would be the good strategy for Stephen, whom I think is in the driver's seat right now.

And I think you're right about Coach vs Tyler. I think with Tyler, we're all in on his joke. Coach, meanwhile, I don't think has a clue about how big a joke he is.
