OK...you guys get first dibs and while I may not have gotten a quality shot of Obama (and didn't expect to...) I did get an unexpected one but otherwise enjoy.

Those are all great pics, Daemon. Thanks for posting them.:)
|
You are more than quite welcome.
|
Great pics!!!
|
Thanks for the post. I watched starting at 10:00 and finally turned it off at the end of the parade. I can't ever remember watching so much of the event. But then, I never turned it on at all for W.

Obviously this was swiped from the interwebs, but...

(taken as his alma mater's marching band filed past him at the parade) I MUA, President Obama! |
I was laughing when they showed his High School's band. I bet they have never been in temperatures lower than 60.
|
Holy crap!!! Samuel L. Jackson was so close!!! For a few moments anyway :D

It's like calling a Chinese person, Japanese Stop. |
Why is it offensive?

If you know anything about the culture you would know it is offensive.

That's one of those subjective offense things that I just ignore. LOL.
If it makes you feel better, though, I would never flatter you so much as to assume you are/call you a Rasta. I have way too much respect for Rastafarianism. ;) |

serious man...not something to be bandied with. |

I am not a Rasta and it's not flattering to assume that I follow the religion as to address me as one. |

And for the third time I ask, and more specifically, why is the term Rasta offensive to you? |
Quote:
are you? Do you smoke cannabis? Do you believe in the movement? |

Anyway.... Buffalo Soldier...dreadlock Rasta...Rasta...Rasta.... |

I tried to ask you respectfully. Thank you for showing me you have none.. 'night Quote:
Read up on your hair man... But fine...we are done here...if you feel like you need a further explanation, feel free to contact me directly. |
If you're not a Rasta, why would I need you to give me further explanation? lol
|
LOL :)
So, yeah, I was singing a song. The only reference to you was your dreadlocks. You aren't a Buffalo Solider, either, but you aren't pissing over that. |

When I went to Jamaica, they played Buffalo Soldier every night. We all had fun singing it. |

The last person that should be trying to make fun of someone's culture. Thank you for your 2 cents. And while you were in Jamaica did you enjoy getting your hair twisted and braided and fitting in with the locals and drinking 'real' Jamaican rum? and hitting the ganga, mon? Did you meet Dexter St. Jaque while you were there too? |
Quote:
People make fun of my culture all the time. Didn't you know that I'm mafiosa? And yes when I went to Jamaica I enjoyed getting my hair braided because it was cool and I didn't have to do my hair everyday. Plus the lady doing my braids made some money off of me. Woopity doo. I have no clue who Dexter St. Jaque are, but I did hit that ganja. |

(For what it's worth, she was biracial -- Italian and black -- and I believe she chose it for herself) ETA: I'm asking because I'm truly curious in general and not being snarky about it. |
