As Seen on TV

To not hijack The Snuggie thread, we need one to discuss all the ridiculous stuff sold on tv.

While watching a DVRd episode of the new Rock of Love on a tour bus, I saw a commercial for Easy Curves. I would not look at it at work.

www.easycurves.com

It reminds me of junior high sleep overs and "I must, I must I must increase my bust"

Here's another favorite: Bumpits

http://www.bighappiehair.com/

I'd totally get one to give myself Big Love compound hair.

AlphaFrog 01-12-2009 06:05 AM

I really want the Strap Perfect Bra Clips: https://www.strapperfect.com/flare/next?tag=ED|SM|GO|GN I have so many shirts that I've had to go buy a new bra for, and they would only work with that one bra.

I had to look at that and then the website for a full minute before I realized it wasn't called Big Apple hair. I was trying to figure out what the hell hairstyle NYC was famous for. :o

I've ordered some - I'll let you know how they work. It takes 2 - 6 weeks (wtf?) for delivery, and ordering them on phone is a PAIN. They keep asking you if you want some wedding white ones, or fashion colours, or who knows whatall. I got them, thinking I can take 3 (you only wear one bra at a time) and give the other 6 to my two daughters.

I'm tired of having to tug at a strap while lecturing.

The best "As Seen on TV" product is the Ped Egg!!! I LOVE this product. It really is nothing more than a micrograter like I have for the kitchen, but for people with lots of dead skin build up on their heels, this is a miracle! Beware...use the product on dry skin only (if you soak first, it won't work) and put a paper towel on the floor (you will make a mountain of dead skin and the contraption does NOT catch it all as the makers imply!)

AGDLynn 01-12-2009 01:50 PM

There are "As Seen on TV" stores in malls; and I know CVS has some of the smaller items.

epchick 01-12-2009 01:51 PM

I totally want the Bumpits and Strap-perfect, but I definitely want Smooth Away.

When I was in MS/HS they sold something similar at like Walgreen & such, and it worked great. Maybe i'll wait to see if Walgreens gets it, cause they sell a lot of "As seen on TV" stuff (like the pedi-cure, the green bags, sham-wows, etc)

I did something wrong, then, because I looked like my feets had been mauled by lions afterwards! Guess I didn't have enough callouses?

Anyhow, I do NOT recommend using this for the first time just prior to vacation.

nikki1920 01-12-2009 02:25 PM

I love my pink PedEgg. And yes, you have to do it right over a trash can.

My husband and I wondered if that thing really worked!

Honeykiss1974 01-12-2009 02:56 PM

Yes, the PedEgg does work and it is DA' BOMB. Ditto about putting a paper towel underneath your feet because some will fall out of the egg. But other than that, no complaints here! :)

More As Seen on TV products here: http://www.greekchat.com/gcforums/sh...ad.php?t=85576 (it also includes a hijack by the Queen of the Banned)

I have yet to get a GF grill and the Food Saver. Now that the Boy and I are eating in more often, they'll be very handy to have and hopefully they'll help us save money.

agzg 01-12-2009 05:14 PM

We use our GF two or three times a week. It's nice if you live in an apartment, want to grill, but don't have the outdoor space. It doesn't taste like grilled food though, even if you don't like charcoal and use gas or propane instead.

indygphib 01-12-2009 05:17 PM

My cat HATES the PediPaws I bought for her at CVS. But then again, she's a completely spoiled psycho.

I'd like to try the Smooth Away and the Strap-perfect someday, but that would require me to have extra cash on hand to fritter away.\

And GF grills are awesome for making grilled cheese sandwiches!

I've found myself watching that commercial a few times. I'm interested to hear SWTXBelle's review.

That's interesting. It's hard to believe that it really works. If it does, I'd be interested. Lol--stuff like this is made for people like us.:o

I was seriously thinking about ordering this, but then I got to thinking about the wear on the bra...As expensive as bras are, it might just be better to keep my strapless handy:cool:

SWTXBelle 01-12-2009 07:57 PM

I'm getting them to keep my straps from slipping - I don't really have much in the way of fashion-forward tops which will require different strap configurations. But I'll report back on what my far cooler daughters think.

The ones I used to use (I can't even remember the name) did work very well. I don't know about the whole "it exfoliates your legs and leaves them smooth" but it got the hair off.

The only problem I had was the fact that I have REALLY dry legs, so the pads would wear out more quickly b/c of all the dry skin it had to slosh off (lol).

I have sensitive skin and tried to use something like this a while back. I had a rash for days. The thing I got was just a strip of really fine sandpaper.

Me too. The hair comes off, but it's because you SANDED IT AWAY.

KSUViolet06 01-13-2009 01:56 AM

Double post, but does anyone own the Sham-Wow (the towels that are supposed to be super absorbent). I keep seeing the commercial, and i'm curious to know if they are really that good.

Really? Yeah I can see how that can happen.

I have a friend who has them, and she loves it. Walgreens sells it (well i know my Walgreens has it) and it's cheaper than the infomercial.

Saw them on display of the window at Bed Bath and Beyond tonight. I swear they have everything that is seen on tv, except the damn hair bumps!

AGDee 01-13-2009 07:04 AM

I highly recommend the green bags for produce. They truly do extend the life of your fruits and vegetables, especially bananas. I love bananas but I usually have to buy a couple that are ripe, a couple that are half ripe and a couple that are green to get me through a whole week. The green bags are great for lettuce too. I immediately transfer the bagged salad I buy into those and it stays good much longer! I thought they were pricey but my neighbor gave me one to try and I was sold. I throw out so much less produce now that I think they pay for themselves.

epchick 01-14-2009 01:12 AM

So Walgreen did NOT have Smooth Away :( bummer.

They did have:
Debbie Meyer's Green Bags
Debbie Meyer's Bread Bags
ShamWOW
The Perfect Pushup
The Iron Gym
Tweeze
Buxton Organizer
One Touch can Opener
Pasta N' More
Bendaroos
Pedi Paws
some stuff from Billy Mays that I can't remember
this hearing aid-type thing that amplifies sound

and a few other things that I can't remember at the moment.

summer_gphib 01-14-2009 06:06 AM

According to KFVS12 News's Does it work Wednesday (tests all kinds of as seen on tv stuff,) the bumpit doesn't work well with fine hair.

Here's a link to their website, they grade everything pretty hard and there are many products listed.

A girl that I coach has the bra strap contraption and says that if you move too much it tends to either flip or scratch your back. It also will tend to ride up one side and make your straps uneven.

ZTABullwinkle 01-14-2009 04:39 PM

I just got back from bed, Bath and Beyond. They have the perfect straps (and most of the other As Seen on TV items) on sale there for about $9.

SWTXBelle 01-14-2009 04:40 PM

Perfect Straps

I KNEW the minute I ordered them they would should up in stores! Hope y'all appreciate my throwing myself on the grenade for you!:p

Sorry about that! If only I had gone to BBB earlier, right? It seems they have just about everything "As Seen On TV" in the store, including the.....

SNUGGIE!

THAT'S WHAT IT'S CALLED!!

I'm not sure if any of you have flown JetBlue yet, but they have individual TV screens that you control on the back of each seat. I noticed this person like two rows up from me was watching the Bumpit informercial...and I wanted to know what it was but of COURSE my TV was broken. Thanks for posting it!

I wanna try it... but I think only the mini Bumpit would work for me... I would probably look ridiculous with any other. :o

cuteASAbug 01-14-2009 05:22 PM

SPACE BAGS!!!

My mom's friend told her about them, who told me. They are amazing and are great for storing things that you don't use, like seasonal items, or for moving.

I figured as much. Nothing ever seems to be made for those of us with fine hair. I was always the girl in high school who would go through three cans of Aqua Net a week to get my "perfect pouf", only to have my hair completely deflate by 2nd period. :(

PM_Mama00 01-14-2009 05:54 PM

As much as I've made fun of the Snuggie, I wish I had one now. I'm constantly getting hot then cold especially when I read.

I have the Magic Bullet Blender. FABULOUS invention. There's SO MUCH you can do with it!

I love the Magic Bullet too! I asked for it for every Christmas and birthday for three years and the kids finally came through last year!

I had some similar bags I got and they were a god send at the dig site last summer. I had my clothes sorted into bags, and it kept the dust off my clean things, and all I had to do was grab one item from each bag to get dressed. The dirty clothes stayed outside and went into a laundry bag. I had the cleanest and most organized tent at any archaeology dig known to man. I also wore makeup every day and brought my hair straightener, plus shaved every time we got a shower, so take that as you will.

SWTXBelle 01-15-2009 06:47 AM

Standards must be maintained. My family has pictures of 10 yr. old me camping - pink foam rollers in place, green macramé purse with me at all times. (Yes, it was the 70s.)

SWTXBelle 02-01-2009 02:07 PM

Strap Perfect

Got 'em - and they work! An earlier poster had said that her friend had problems with straps being uneven - I'm guessing her problem was getting the straps even in the first place. It's a tad awkward to do yourself - but once in place, I've had no problem with them slipping. And yes, you do get a "lift"! I give it a thumb's up!

Anything for a lift! AND, I have a gift card to BBB!

-Have the Magic Bullet - would rather have a real blender (mine is at my house, my mother decided she didn't need hers anymore); the one minute bit doesn't do it for me. I think that having bought it (them) from an informercial (read: paid too much) soured me somewhat.

-The Ped-Egg destroyed my feet for about 3 weeks. I guess I was too hard on myself with it.

-Love, love, love the Space Bags! I may actually get another set. All my summer whites are in them, but I haven't tried them with sweaters. Has anyone?

-Another fine hair victim. I think it would be easier to tweeze my hair rather than sand it.

-The GT Express Cooker. Think shaped electric frypan. My mother watched that informercial. I think we need to join Informercials Anonymous!
