The Bachelor: Jason Mesnick (Season 13)

First news about the filming of the show is starting to drop. The new season is to premiere on January 5.

First trailer for the series (featuring the opening night introductions/toasts):

GEEZ, pushing the single dad angle, much, ABC?

Apparently, they're filming the final three fantasy dates in New Zealand. Pretty awesome location this time around:

I am dreading this season. I am not really a big Jason fan. At the same time, I cannot look away. BRING IT ON!!

LucyKKG 11-24-2008 05:33 PM

Yeah, but I can't NOT watch...

ΑΓΔSquirrel10 11-24-2008 06:04 PM

Aww yay!!! I was so upset when DeAnna didn't pick him, so I'm really happy that he's going to be the Bachelor :)

srmom 11-24-2008 06:31 PM

I am just really disturbed by the fact that he's a single custodial parent during this whole thing! I felt badly for the little boy last season, after meeting DeAnna the dumper (although they probably dodged a bullet there!). I think this type of exposure and mixed signals cannot be healthy for a little guy.. :(

scbelle 12-11-2008 04:09 AM

Here's hoping for a happy ending...

http://omg.yahoo.com/news/new-bachel...gaged/16398?nc

I loved Jason last season and was really mad at Deanna, although now I realize that she's just a fame whore and addicted to all things wedding, so I agree with you, srmom that they probably dodged a major bullet. And I appreciate the seeming maturity about the situation that Jason possesses, even though the decision to drag my kid through another round of reality TV wouldn't be one I would make, Jason at least has his son at heart when making his decision. And barring any scenario where he fell for another fame whore, then maybe he's found his happily ever after as he says.

With the history of The Bachelor, I will believe it when I see him walk down the aisle. I hope for his son's sake, however, that we do get to see a Bachelor wedding.

Well technically HE won't be walking down the aisle...

Hehe sorry, I couldn't resist! :p

srmom 12-11-2008 05:16 PM

I read on an entertainment blog (yahoo I think) that he is already engaged. Is it to someone he met on the show? If so, I don't give it much chance of lasting ;)

Sorry, duh - once again, I missed your post above!!

Well, technically he does walk down the aisle after the vows. Or is it up the aisle?

OH NO SHE DI'INT!

De'anna is coming back during this season saying she 'made a mistake' and 'it's not too late'???

F - That! She had her chance.

ETA -- Unless the network is playing tricks on us, the girl he proposes to is a brunette. At the end they were showing highlights and they showed the whole proposal from far away and him twirling her around. Brunette, long hair and a blue dress. I'm thinking it might be that girl from Dallas (the former Dallas Cowboys Cheerleader), Raquel (the girl w/ the accent who Salsa'd in Brazil), or (bleh) DeAnna

DreamfulSpirit 01-05-2009 11:29 PM

That doesn't surprise me that they would bring Deanna back. They've brought others back for a "second chance" before.

Well, I know who probably won - I read the boards and (very very very) occasionally post at fansofrealitytv.com... the people there are insane and basically use every method available to figure out who wins (checking when people log into myspace/facebook against the timeline of filming, analyzing people's hands, etc..). Anyway they have declared who the presumed winner is based on the light blue dress proposal and I'm pretty convinced by the evidence that they have. So I'll keep mum on that.

I'm not sure about the Deanna thing. When I first saw it I was freaking out about what a psycho she is. They showed the same promo that was aired at the end of the episode during the Saturday night showing of Sleepless in Seattle, and I was like WHAT... Anyway I think a good number of the shots of Deanna are from her Bachelorette season... For example the one of her on the balcony and the one of her and Jason on the couch I think are both from her season. The part, though, that doesn't add up for me is that the women's quotes "She's obsessed with him" "What's she doing here" "I cried when I saw you with Deanna" don't make sense unless Deanna comes and sticks around... I guess the obsessed quotes could be about Shannon...?

I dunno.

Part of me hopes Deanna does make a play for him, just because it will bring the crazy.

BetteDavisEyes 01-06-2009 01:55 AM

Wow. That Jacquie chick was so full of herself talking about how great she is and how men love her but none of them think she is great enough for them.

Yeah, her whole dialog about how she woke up with one guy and left the engagement ring on the pillow and then went and got engaged/married to another guy? And then that marriage (for which she had a BEEEEEYOOTIFUL wedding) ended? Uh, no duh, Sherlock.

Also: Megan was really stupid to be lecturing the other girls about motherhood on the first name. Total buzzkill! And then being all "you are all a-holes" when she got the news of their vote... uh, yeah.

So far, I like Stephanie and Jillian a lot. I think I probably like Shannon least. That girl is CREEPY.

That's where I've seen Melissa before!! It was bugging the heck out of me all night! Thank you! lol

I couldn't believe he gave Erica a rose. The man clearly has poor judgment.. or did he feel sorry for her because she was one of the three biggest vote getters?

So I dont normally watch the bachelor just because Ive never been into it, but my pledge sister told me that she works with one of the girls that is on this season. She works with Megan the girl that got the most votes from the others in the house. Anyways she says that Megan is really nice in person, although some of her coworkers don't like her I guess.

Anyways if your curious she works in the Nordstroms in Pittsburgh, PA in the young mens section.

So I guess this season I will be watching. LOL.

If she works at Nordstroms, how on earth does she afford 20+ acres in Sewickley? She was talking about all the land she has, and I was wondering what the heck kind of money she must come from.

(I'm hoping I didn't just confuse who was who, but I remember this specifically)

srmom 01-07-2009 11:33 AM

I thought the girl who got the most roses was the one that was a lacrosse coach with a 14 month old son, who kept lecturing the girls on single parenthood.

I really wanted to hug the widowed mom with the daughter, and then give her a make up lesson!! Every other girl had subdued makeup and hers was just so jarringly overdone. I'm glad she got a rose and hope somebody takes her under their wing and tells her eyeliner and lip liner like that went out a long time ago unless you are in a girl gang.

How pathetic was the girl who quit her job? She was personality-less. I think it was a pity rose.

I thought the most genuine girl was the one who got the "first impression" rose. I liked her.

I think I will like this season, but I am still somewhat queasy about the exploitation factor of having his son, a 4 year old, filmed for this type of thing (with all the nutjobs out there). I'm curious how his ex-wife feels about her son being on national tv. He is a cute kid and I hope this works out for them...

Speaking as someone who worked at Nordstrom one summer in college, I can say that Nordstrom pays a lot better than what you may think. Especially with commission. There are plenty of people there that make quite a nice living.

Is she divorced? The property may have been purchased while in a marriage.

Remember, he's not privvy to all the gossiping and conversation amongst the women. But I too was disappointed that she got a rose! She's very immature and seems to only be there for the competition. And it irked me that she told him, when she came out of the limo, that she had just come from Kirkland, yet then rambled off a couple places she had been in Seattle...did she swing through Kirkland just to see the town where he lives?

AGDee 01-07-2009 02:40 PM

Yeah, but he saw her reaction when she was announced as being one of the three highest vote getters from the others.

Nordstrom's only been open for less than a year here, I think. But who knows, maybe she makes enough. But Sewickley is a VERY pricey area, so 20 acres would cost a bundle.

She kind of annoys me, but at the same time she seems to be much more of a real person than many of the other contestants.

I feel bad saying this, but the woman who is a widow frightens the hell out of me. I think she is just plain scary, drag-queen 50 year old looking. She seems like a good person, but just creeps me out.

srmom 01-07-2009 06:54 PM

Like I said, she needs a makeover. Her makeup is what makes her look old and drag queenish. There was a shot of her in the previews of the upcoming season where she was by the pool with less makeup and she looked about 15 years younger.

Poor thing, whoever taught her that more is better -

Less is More.

As far as Nordstrom's goes, I had a friend who worked in commission in the lingerie department and she made up in the upper $30s. So Nordstroms is definitely not a bad gig.

I'm not knocking the job but even if that was her salary (or even more) she wouldn't be able to afford even an acre in the area where she lives, let alone 20 acres and being able to raise a kid. My husband and I make many times that and couldn't afford to live there. Gotta be family money or divorce money in there somewhere.

Should be an interesting season, it's always funny to see who you thought was a decent person go totally batshit during the season.

I know you did a typo, but I would say that she got THORNS from the other girls, not roses. hee :D

srmom 01-08-2009 04:12 PM

Yeah, woops, I meant votes!

Thanks for catching it.

lauralaylin 01-08-2009 04:39 PM

I found out that Ericka is an Alpha Chi Omega. Graduated from URI in 2005. Some younger chapter members of mine remember her. I haven't watched the episode yet, but I did hear she got a rose.

Ruh roh! Wasn't Erica the runner-up for the girls' "most hated" votes?

Oh - I had no idea of the cost of living in that area. I see what you mean now.

And to your second comment, right on! So many seemingly normal people just become unhinged on this show.

My money is on Melissa. I've read a few spoiler boards and also Melissa and DeAnna were basically separated at birth in terms of similarities, looks-wise.

I'm so glad that he got rid of Nicki (or whatever that blond girl's name was that he took to Vegas)

I loooooooved that she got all pissed off and started cussing. I bet when he sees that he's going to be glad he didn't give her a rose ;)

This girl wanted to elope? Seriously?
