Can a junior transfur still be concidered for recruitment?
Hi! I go to our local community college, I will be starting at UCSC next fall as a junior transfer, can I still rush even though I am what the adviser has deemed "old" for the average UC student? (I'm 24, in September) Also, I have a dog, is that ok? I want to experience this part of student life, but can I if I'm old and dog friendly?

Your dog will not be allowed to live in a sorority house, if that's what you're asking. Unless it's an extraordinarily laid back house.
|
I know when I got my dog, they made me give up my membership. True story, except not really.
|
Maybe that's why she is a transFUR.

We have a Kappa from UC Santa Cruz on GC. She could probably give you insight on the campus norms.

Does the UCSC admissions process not have a minimum requirement for the ability to write in the English language? |
Pi Eta Tau Alpha takes animals.:D

I wasn't aware UCSC had sorority housing.
Yup, I'm a UCSC transplant. |

Yes, a Junior transfer can still be considered for recruitment. I know we've accepted them before since they can still be valuable assets to our chapter.
UCSC doesn't have Greek housing so your dog can just chill at your house with no problems. :p Be sure to check out the OPERS Fair in the fall to meet representatives from all of the Greek orgs as well as many other campus clubs. That's when we do the most recruitment, so you'll surely see a ton of girls representing Panhellenic (Kappa Kappa Gamma and Gamma Phi Beta). This event is a few days before fall classes start. I'm the Membership Chair for Kappa, so feel free to PM me if you have any more questions. |

Thank you so much Lucy! ... and everyone else.
Lucy, Violet, OTW, Breathes,
Thank you for the actual information; I hope to see you this upcoming fall. I am very excited to join the campus and hopefully one of the sororities on it. No body in my family has ever shone interest in affiliation and I need all the information/help I can get. I just want to know if I should give it a try, and you have given me the info I needed to continue on my research. And everyone else, I apologize for the poor spelling of the last post, but I missed the memo about the spelling test that would be included with my consideration for eligibility here at GC. My mother would be very proud of all of you, my spelling has been her mission for years. I promise all spelling will be copasetic from this point forth.:o |

But minus points for "shone" instead of "shown". Unless her family is made up of shiny people. That's not even a typo. That's just a really odd grammar mistake. It's one thing to make a few typos or slip up on your grammar. It's another when it is as noticeable and as frequent as this mistakes are in the OP's posts. |
Ask a stupid question, get a stupid answer. "Will my dog affect my recruitment?" is definitely one of the silliest questions I've seen about recruitment in a while.

I thought trans-fur was supposed to be a joke. She spelled it right the second time... Because of the dog... nevermind.
