I was just curious to know are there any other artist on greekchat. So far, as far as I know, it's just me and Phrozen1ne. I think christiangirl sketches too (as a hobby).

Do you do it as a hobby, career/job? If so, what do you like to work with? Painting, sketching, still lifes, pottery, sculpting?

Does photography count? I'm a hobbyist.

Nice title PB, LOL.

In undergrad, one of my majors was art. I'm a painter. I also do some pottery, though my interests (and skills) are definitely in painting.

I majored in Graphic Design at school and I still work as a designer now - 8.5 years later :) I work in print doing packaging, brochures, catalogs, booth graphics, etc.

I love what I do. And I think it will be good for the future if I decide to stay home, I can always freelance. Although it's sometimes hard in a corporate world working with people who don't always understand the language that I'm speaking - or the managers that want something changed and stand over my shoulder while I'm working on a layout. That drives me insane! The only things that keep me sane are the other two wonderful artists in my department.

I also wish the field were more lucrative. The market is just swamped with artists and therefore the salaries often stay low. And that makes it that much harder to find a new job!

I think SHEETCAKE should post some tasty art!

DaemonSeid 11-14-2008 12:49 PM

I write and perform spoken word.

sjsoffer 11-14-2008 12:55 PM

I paint and draw with colored pencils. Just a hobby, but one I've been doing forever:)

jessica.lanelle 11-14-2008 02:48 PM

I draw and paint in my spare time.

Surely do. :) I did take on art class where I learned to paint as well, but I wasn't nearly as good at that. I've been writing since Junior High (poetry, short stories, plays, you name it). I also used to be a volunteer photographer at the humane society at one point. If you can shoot a wriggly, camera-licking, ADHD-acting puppy, you can shoot ANYTHING. :D

I write. Currently I'm doing the National Novel Writing Month project. www.nanowrimo.org

I also write a blog called Local Music Fanatic. I go to shows in the DFW area and write reviews about them. My blog is strictly a hobby.

If you do photography, writing, music...etc that's cool too.

NP I like your work. I don't know much about photography, but your work looks really good.

My art work puts food on the table and pays my bills for me,:) but I enjoy figure drawing as a hobby. A nude model is always the best, but loose clothing is cool too, it's just more of a challenge (depending on the light source) because of the folds in the clothes. The technique I enjoy using the most is filling the entire sheet of strathmore with vine charcoal and then using a needy eraser to draw the figure and bring out my highlights. I use compressed charcoal for my shadows and some of my middle tones. Then I go in with some off the wall weird, soft pastel colors over the charcoal and man does it really come off the page.;) I like sketching still lifes too. For those of you who like sketching still lifes, you should try sketching brown paper bags if you haven't already. They're really challenging, especially if you have a good light source. Other than that, I'm a transportation designer during the day, and I teach an introduction to transportation design class two nights out of the week.

I keep misreading this title as "me and Phrozone" :D. I guess that would make PB Mr. Incredible? :p
