Is there a new Paedagogus coming out?

docroc67 11-11-2008 06:47 PM

Brother John,

The Centennial Edition of the Paedagogus is out. I am sure that they have a backlog to fill because it goes out to our undergraduate members as the first priority.

I have seen it. I think that it could be the best yet. It looks great, has a nice layout, and color is everywhere.

I'll have to read it closely before I venture an opinion on the content.

It is worth getting....

Maybe someone could tell us why we call it the "Paedagogus"?

eli_the_chopper 11-12-2008 07:31 AM

It's on like, the first page of the paddy. It's the Greek word for teacher or companion, as in, that book teaches you about LCA, and is your companion through associate membership. Right now, I'm in Germany, studying, and the school for teachers is called "Pädagogische Hochschule". Roughly translated, that means Teaching College.

GammaZeta 11-12-2008 07:54 AM

Wasn't a big fan of the paed, didn't read it much.

Always thought it was Greek but didn't know the exact meaning.

AJL3 11-12-2008 11:10 PM

The new Paedagogus is a great read. It has colorful pictures and great writing. Plus, it has some bio's about some of our more famous brothers and it also features the officer medallions.

I think I read the Paedagogus much more AFTER being initiated than I did before. Before I mostly learned the stuff that i knew I'd have to know later.

Mooch279 11-13-2008 02:42 PM

is there a soft copy somewhere? like the last edition.

Bilski 11-17-2008 01:53 AM

The latest edition is great. I've actually got a lot of actives wanting a copy of it. I'd like to see it in electronic form soon too.

Shadowskream459 11-17-2008 02:26 AM

I don't neccesesarily (sp?) agree with some of the information posted in the paed.
But I also don't agree with the true brother initiative in the sense of some of the stuff it eludes too. Anyone else agree?

GammaZeta 11-17-2008 07:19 AM

Is Paed available online in PDF form? Or maybe someone can scan the pages on the true brother?

Cube TX 11-18-2008 12:24 PM

I still don't understand why guys like Powers Boothe, Tito Santana and Mark Kelso don't even get a mention in the famous alumni section while guys like John Tesh get their pictures proudly posted everytime.

GammaZeta 11-18-2008 01:59 PM

Um, maybe because John Tesh is so f'n awesome?!?!

Seriously, this is John motherf'n Tesh we're talking about.

Mooch279 11-18-2008 06:02 PM

triumph the insult comic dog skits with John Tesh are pretty funny.

john1082 11-19-2008 11:38 AM

I received a copy yesterday - very impressive!

I don't know Chase. If you teach the True Brother Initiative right, it works great. I know I've seen a difference in the chapter since we started implementing it a few years ago. It also flows well when you start the Inner Circle. It all comes together and works really well.

JL87 11-30-2008 03:58 PM

Ya, my AM group got the new ones, there really nice. The new content as well as the color pictures really added to it.

Trey_P-I_47 02-10-2009 12:48 AM

Has anyone acquired an extra copy of the new paed yet? I would love a copy and have an older version (60s something i believe) that i wouldnt mind trading for it.

lambdaindenver 02-10-2009 10:37 AM

New Paed

You can contact the office - they were going to have some for sale.

on page nine of the new paed, our current and previous chapter president are front and center: Dave Bogaerts on the left as the most recent previous, Mike Rudoff in the middle, and dead weight is on the right. Our current Beta is just to the left of Bogaerts. Pi-Zeta represent!!!

"Dead Weight" is a great nickname! If justified, quite worthy. I used to name our pledges back in the late 1960s. Some nicknames have become part of some Brothers personal identity....
