CHARITY EVENT--HOT-tUB-A-THON

Brothers, 2 years ago, LX Z Pitt State U. Kansas started a hot tub event and have given @ $4000.00 to the Ron Mc D house.

Brother Jacob Lee U Rhode Island and I have been conversing on this idea and would like to see it become Fraternity Wide!

It can be inexpensive, get Great PR, Include a Soroity, and give money to a charity of your choice!

Please let me know if interested and can give you more info on how we did it so you also can do it!

It can be fun and gain a lot of Pr as we all know we could use it as Greek Organizations keep taking hits on Bad Press!

Chris I dropped you an E-M!

You do not have to have a tub guys! There must be a Spa place that will donate it to you to get their name on the donation list!
This is not only placed on the Board 4x8 sheet of plywood with paper so you can write in big letters of the donators and listed in the news media!

This does not cost the Zeta a lot of money but does one heck of a lot for PR not only for us but you sell to one Soroity and the rest will want to become the one chosen next time!

Where can you get good PR, sit nexts to girls in bathing suits, and give money to charity and also have a great time!

you could also be resourceful, and build your own hot tub! we don't do hot-tub-a-thon, and really couldn't, because FIJI already does it, but for our annual pig roast, we have the "pig pond" it's a 10x10x2 hot tub made out of 2x12's with 4x4 corner posts. we just run water to it from the water heater. it runs for about a week, and doesn't cost that much extra. it's pretty sweet, and it's a one time investment.

Jacob, let me know how the hot tub charity event goes!!!!!!!

The Brothers at LX Z had 1 1/2 of the chapter attend Rape Seminar so as to help counsel anyone as a victum.

Homecoming was so hecktic that I did not get a date for ours, which if I remember right is done in the Spring Sem. early while still cold and the steam comes off for Great PR in the Media!

Side note We lost in the last 3 min. to our arch rivals! Between the 2 we have both won the championship 10 of the last 11 years! It is no small conference with 11 members!

Keep me posted and lets get this HUGE on Hot Tub Event!!!!!!!

Hot Tub

Just want everyone to know that Phi Delta Zeta at University of Maryland Baltimore County fished our 1st Hot Tub - A - Thon on Thursday and we raised close to $600.00. Everyone had a great time, the temp. was in the low 40's so the hot water felt very nice. We got help from the school and from 3 out of the 4 sor. on campus. Thank you Phi Mu, Phi Sigma Sigma, and Alpha Sigma Alpha. It was a great kick of for rush, everyone is still talking about it.

Jason get the boys a Shipps off butts and get them into it!:) How is the Zeta at Shipps and gettys doing? Know you are involved in both!

Ours is March coming all to fastly!

Would love to be in the Tub but they do not need a beached whale in the Tub!:D

How about the reast of the Brothers out there? Try it, you can get a tub donated as they get PR too! This can be a low cost Charity Event and get us great PR and in with some of the Soroitys who want to join in!;)

I may be able to help

I recently organized a "hot-tub-o-thon" which we call Hot Tubbing. I was able to raise about $1000 and we received free food to eat, free hot tub, shirts for about $4 which we sold for $8, the mayor was supposed to show up but had an event with the boy scouts at the last minute, had administrators from the Ohio U show up and many other people. We were able to do this with sponsorships and advertisments we placed on the t-shirt. If anyone would like the press releases, proposals to businesses, invitation letters, etc. I will give you everything I have. Just email me.

Hey all,
I would also be interested in some info on this. Sounds like a great idea. You can contact me at jjwilson@usa.com

Tom Earp 02-15-2002 05:24 PM

Will try to cover this as best as I can!

Find a spa place that will donate a portable hot tub. Place it on your lawn in front of house!

Contact the local media, paper and TV to let them know when the event is along with the Charity and Soroity you are sponsering. Make sure they will post something before hand and will be there during the event!

Have a big board near the tub so you can list all of the people who donated what and as they come by and donate $ or canned food put the name on the board for all driving by and or stopping. A sheet of plywood and paper.

Pick a worthwhile Charity so people will know it is worthwhile!:)

You can get a lot of great PR and meet some ladys and it does not cost much!

If someone else does it throw a little different twist on it. Do when cool as the steam rising looks great.

So far, after talking with Brother Jacob Lee, U R I he was the second and had a great time and it looks like we now have 4 Zetas involved!

Good Luck and keep us all updated!:D

Just found this site and I had to jump in on this thread.

I am also from Ohio U - alumni since 1996. One of my associate class brothers started Hottubbing at OU back in 1992 when he was Epsilon. His original theme was "Hottubbing for the Homeless", and we raised money for a local homeless shelter. As the years went on, the event grew in popularity, and I'm really glad to see that our guys continue the tradition of hosting the best Greek philanthropy on OU's campus. I'm sure he will get a kick out of the fact that other chapters are now getting in on the fun.

I almost hate to say this, but the original reason the event was started was because this guy was looking for an excuse to sit in a hottub with sorority women. :D Luckily, it was so well thought-out that we were able to make it a philanthropic event rather than a "party".

Anyway, the keys to making this a successful event have already been covered. But a bit of advice - you get more "pub" if you do this during the winter (if you're in a cold climate). People check it out out of curiosity - most think you're crazy to sit in a hottub when it's cold out - and that gives you a larger audience from which to solicit donations.

Tom Earp 02-22-2002 05:43 PM

Welcome to the Site! It do get addictive, better than drugs!:D

Brother Jacob Lee, U R I and I have been pushing this as a cheap way of getting PR and sitting with the Chicks! This year, we will be doing it with the AGD.

I talked to Tom Helmbock about pushing this Fraternity Wide but he said " Well It Should be up to the individual Zetas"!

In My humble Opinion ( NO smart remarks from Jason, Jono or Steve) It is a Cheap way to get Good PR , give to a Charity and sit with Chicks!:D

I push it every chance I get on talking with a Brother from another Zeta!

LrdOL 02-24-2002 11:57 AM

DAMN i turn my head for a little while and this thread blows up with relpys!!!!! kick ass

So we're not doing too bad with rush this semester out here in RI. Sent a good amount to New England Conclave in D.C. .. good times. I'm personally going to the IFC/Panhel Conference in Philly (SO LOOK FOR ME IF YOU"RE SENDING PEOPLE THERE!!!!)
And we're blowing up the neiborhood with the food drive!!!

But as far as the Hot-Tub-A-Thon goes, i think we're going to keep it situatied in the Fall semester. That way everyone can have time over the summer to REALLY SET IT UP!!! Saves time, you get the paper work done, you can find a sponcer really easily, cause you have time to do so.

I'm sorry i haven't been active on the list, i'll try to get here more.
But any questions about getting this going in a similtanious manor with other Zetas, let me know (ps my email address has changed!!!)

SonicLXA@yahoo.com

Drop me some brotherly love about anything, i feel like road triping some time this summer, and i love to hear how other brothers lives are (getting their party on, getting their girls on. . etc.)
So i'm here in cold RI, i'll hear from ya'll soon.
