How long did you wait in line to cast a vote?
2 hours and 27 minutes for a precinct with only 1000 people in it. All my neighbors were there, well, everyone was there at opening, and it took forever, but I am sure I didn't have the longest wait....
Everyone at work was jumping on my case because I waited until today to vote instead of doing early voting. They said stuff like "I would be in line for hours, blah, blah, blah..." Well I just voted. I made it through the line, voted, and left in less than 40 minutes. That is quicker than most of the early voters I know. So there! :p
I just got back from voting. Not long at all. About an hour.
I waited for 30 minutes here in Tulsa.
was in line at 6am...polls opened at 7 am ...cast my vote at 7:47am
I did early voting last Monday after work and waited about 2 hours. I'm glad I got it over with then because I've heard the lines aren't any better today.
I got to the polls at 7:20 (later than planned). I was voter #71 in my precinct. I was out of there by 8 am, including MY CNN EXIT POLL! I got exit polled by CNN! I was so excited! What they were doing in my sleepy lil town, I don't know, but there were three of them with forms to fill out. Anyway, things went smoothly, nobody was turned away while I was there, and I'm done. I was talking to one of the poll workers and she said there were a lot of absentee ballots cast in our precinct, so they didn't expect lines would be too bad. When I left, the line was half as long as when I came in.
I had to drive past the precinct where I voted when I was married and the lines were way long, there were cars parked up to 1/4 mile away. I'm glad I'm not in that precinct anymore! |
About 5 minutes - got there at 7:25 to vote, was out at 7:30. Of course, I live in a small town with a lot of polling locations, and I think they split up the lines by party affiliation (and there are far less Republicans in my town).
Downtown OKC, I showed up about 8:40 and there was no line.
Showed up at 5:58 .. there were 20 or so people ahead of me .. out by 6:20 .. we had a long ballot with judges to approve and a bunch of initiatives
I arrived right when the polls opened. From walking to the line to pushing "cast ballot" took 2 hours and 57 minutes. Well worth it!
I arrived later than I wanted to, at around 7:10. Left the building at around 8:50. Only two machines. Great.
I live in the "Gateway" district. |
Some pics I took today
I did early voting last Monday morning. Even with some extra form that I had to fill out, I was in and out in about 5-10 minutes. The polling site I used was at my University, and it didn't getting busy until about lunch time.
I did early voting three weeks ago. I was in and out in 10 minutes, and there were about 50 voters there while I was there.
Just five minutes in New Hampshire this morning. Phew!
I waited about 10 minutes last thursday for early voting
5 minutes from the time I entered the building to the time I cast my ballot in the machine.
got to the polls at 530 (yeah i know lol) doors opened at 6, and got home at seven...nowhere near what i thought it would be!
I did not wait...and Michigan does not have early voting either. I showed up about 8:45.
The radio was saying there were huge waits everywhere, but my precinct had empty booths. Weird. |

No wait here!

40 minutes.
About 30 minutes for me. There are two precincts that vote in my polling location, and lucky for me I seem to live in the less populous one. The line for the other precinct went across the parking lot. My precinct had only a short line indoors.
No early voting in MO, incidentally. |
When hubby and I showed up, there was only one person in line in front of us. When we gave them our street name, they became very confused. Apparently because our street/neighborhood is new construction (0-3 years depending on which lot you bought), the info provided on the voter location finder website(s) have incorrect info. So we had to drive over to another location, which was horrible.
It took about 25-30 minutes to get into the parking lot. Because people had parked on the curb, the driveway into the firestation parking lot ended up only being wide enough for one car, so people leaving were having a hard time getting out, and people arriving were trying to get in. Once I was in line, I stood for only 15 minutes or so. Then another 10-15 minutes to get out of the parking lot. Again, people coming in weren't letting people get out, and other people parking right in the lane itself. As I was exiting, two men ended up getting out of their cars and having a verbal argument in the middle of the road in front of the building, at which point I called the police to come direct traffic or do SOMETHING. So maybe an hour; when I left it was around 10am. ETA: I was voter 485 in my precinct. I was really impressed with the excitement of people in line, as well as the number of teenagers waiting to vote. |
It took me an hour and a half to vote in Kansas City, MO. I was really excited to learn that 50% of my precinct had voted by 10am....just amazing.

I got to the poll in Los Angeles at 6:40. They opened at 7:00 and I was back to my car by 7:30. When I left there was a huge line around the building so wait times were probably getting longer.
It took me about five minutes to vote; just had to wait for a machine to become available. Including drive time I'd say the entire process took about fifteen minutes.
0 minutes. I did absentee mail-in 3 weeks ago. I've voted via absentee mail-in for the last 3 elections. I think I've only been to my polling area on Election Day once.
I've been watching coverage of polling areas on the news and I think it's wonderful that so many people are coming out to vote. Even despite the long lines, no one seems to really be complaining. |
It took me around an hour. I was the 533th voter in my precinct at 10 am.
About 20 minutes. I usually vote at 3pm and am around @ #100. Today, I voted at 10am and was #288.
About 3-5 minutes and I was out of there. This was around 2pm in NE DC.
30 seconds. Only person at the precinct this afternoon at 2pm.
I walked right in and voted - no line at all.
It only took me about 10 minutes, counting the time I spent filling out my ballot.
The new optical scanning system is sooo much nicer than the old lever voting machines. The lever machines were old, and finicky - I once waited on line for 2 hours because my polling place only had one functioning machine (and that was for a local election!). I don't trust touch-screen voting, either. So I'm glad Connecticut went to the new system - it's quick and easy, and there are actual physical paper ballots to count in case there are any problems. |
It took me 15 minutes. There was some drama because one of the usual polling places wasn't in use this year and there were some frustrated people who kept trying to figure out where to go and vote.
20 minutes. i was number 7585 at 8:30am.
There were three other precincts voting the same place I was. They had LOOOOOONG lines. I am glad to see/hear about long lines. It means more and more people are exercising their right to vote and making their voices known (women especially). |
I voted during lunch break. Walked right in - no wait. I asked how was the turn out and was told that I was the 652nd to vote out of an about 1100 person voter role.
Voted early 2 weeks ago on Saturday. Took all of 10 mniutes start to finish and much of that was getting past folks giving out political literature on the way to the door (they were tyhe required distance away).
