What concerns you about Election 2008?
I'm concerned that I just had a conversation with someone who couldn't remember Bin Laden's name.
"Ben... Bin... you know." |
However, this consoles me:
You Can Vote However You Like |
|
Shouldn't this be in news and politics?
I'm concerned that all Obama's votes are going to come up missing. Something willl happen to all the absentees, the earlies, the ones from a certain state...something. |
The fact that people are still undecided right now, and will probably vote based on things like "oh he has nice teeth" or "well, that lady always wears really cute suits" or "he went to Harvard."

That the candidate I am not voting for may win. That this country may go way too far in one direction. That they would take away my rights as an individual. That I would not be allowed to stand out as an individual as a result.

I mean, they do still teach in schools, don't they, that the president doesn't enact laws, Congress does? And that the courts can still declare laws unconstitutional? I just do not understand why people buy into the fear-mongering that goes on (on both sides) in elections like this. |
Well, I'm 99% sure my candidate won't win for President...
On a local level, I'm concerned that my state Republican party can't find more credible candidates for national positions. I understand that a few of the Congressmen are well entrenched, and have big followings around here. I still would like to see a real, credible candidate step up, though. |

I'm concerned that we're going to have another 2000 election, and this whole thing will last even longer than it already has.

Racism much? How can you be in college (can't make out the rest) and still be a racist @sshole? He's half and other great responses.... :D |

But hey, at least they knew where to put the comma. |
People will vote based on race, not qualifications.

My biggest concern is that Downtown where I vote there are only two voting machines, and around 10 or 12 where my parents in that small little suburbian library that serves maybe half the number of voters mine does. Seriously, I'm calling B.S. And I might even call my state board of elections. It just doesn't sit right.

THIS really concerns me. Summarized by my college roommate, but if you google search "howard stern and obama" you can hear the audio of this.
How about Howard Stern had his employee go to the streets of Harlem and ask them who they were voting for and obviously they all said Obama. He asked “are you voting for Obama because he’s black” and they all said no. Then he said “are you going to vote for obama even though he elected sarah palin to be vice president if he wins” and all 3 of them said yes the don’t have a problem with Palin being his choice for VP. And then he asked “what do you like better about Obama that he is for the troops staying in Iraq or that he’s pro life?” and they all said umm I like both or they would pick one or the other. So funny… I wonder why they are really voting for him?!? |
I agree with all of the above. Also that people still think that "Obama is still Islam and we will all be killed if he is elected because he hates us all." I heard that this weekend and ignoring the fact that it would be Muslim instead of Islam.
This election has really brought up my concerns for the intelligence of people and how much they actually trust everything they hear. |

And it really concerns you that three random people interviewed on the Howard Stern show were pretty much clueless? Not that I would for a second underestimate the ignorance of a large segment of the American electorate, but I do wonder how many interviews Stern's people had to do to get the three they played on air. |
Just as I suspected...several people in my office who are already bitching aren't planning on voting.

I REALLY dislike those people.... I wouldnt put too much faith in exit polls. Time and again they have been wrong (2004 is a good example). |

i worry about people voting for corrupted politicians for no other reason than name recognition instead of voting on values and issues.

The things that concern me are:
People who vote based solely on race and GENDER. The electronic voting machines that happen to always "malfunction" in states that a democrat needs Hell... electronic machines that malfunction period People who won't vote People who will vote, but are not informed on the issues. |

I'm praying for Obama's safety. His life is surely in more danger now than it was a few hours ago.

I'm worried about his life too. Especially down here in the South. There's going to be some crazy redneck nut job.
And I remember in class yesterday, my history professor said that there was a good chance if Obama won (which we all now know he did) that him winning could cause serious race riots that would make the 60s civil rights movement look like Woodstock. |
^^^
Are there? |

Things are entirely too quiet. I expected riots as well, but so far, nothing. That makes me more afraid because I honestly think people are taking time to plan. Call me a conspiracy theorist or whatever, but I think the danger will mount as we get closer to Inauguration. |
