Fashion Crimes

Not sure if there is a thread like this, but this picture prompted me to start one. . .

I'm not even sure what to say about these. . .:eek::eek:

[quick hijack]

If anyone has a copy of Tim Conway's Fashion Police segment, I would be thrilled to somehow get a copy!

EWWWWW. I like that style but the color scheme is nasty.

Oh, I'm so glad someone created a fashion crimes thread.

On Thursday, two of my co-workers and I went to Five Guys for lunch. You know the sweatpants tucked into Ugg boots look. I think it's atrocious whenever I see high school girls wearing that at the mall. But when we were at Five Guys, we saw a white-haired man rocking that look. It seriously took everything within me not to burst out laughing.

And speaking of white-haired men dressing inappropriately, a few years ago, I was flying back from California and there was a man on the plane with white hair and a looooong white beard. He was wearing baggy white track pants and a huge baggy Sixers jersey and huge bling. He looked like hip hop Santa.

At my former nursing job, this one father of a child came in..and I swear I'm not makign this up he had on a short sleeved button up shirt only it was unbuttoned and he had no shirt underneath so you saw his beer belly and hairy-ness. Why would you walk around like that much less show up to a doctor's office like that? Aside form that each time i see an old man or any man for that matter with his pants pulled up to his chest it takes everything in me to keep from laughing.

Scandia 10-26-2008 08:31 PM

Somebody PLEASE tell the boys and men walking around in my library with half-unbuttoned shirts and skimpy undershirts to PLEASE wear something with more coverage.

Ditto for the women with tube tops, skimpy tank tops, and things that are WAY too low cut and not supportive enough.

And why in the world would an 8 year old girl wear a tube top to a library? If it were the beach/pool I would look the other way- but the LIBRARY? Why oh why?

When Doves Cry 10-26-2008 09:37 PM

the leggings/jean skirt/Ugg boots combo. Ugh

BabyPiNK_FL 10-27-2008 01:09 AM

leggings. too short shirt. on any size-but especially "big girls".

I just want to yell, "That's not an outfit! I really don't want to meet that much of you."

LightBulb 10-27-2008 03:18 AM

So I googled ugly shoes and found a website with the ugly shoe of the week, such as the hairy shoe below!

Are they hot? If so, I'm going to come visit your library.

When it becomes October in a state above the Mason Dixon....please, put any and all open toed shoes away.

Munchkin03 10-27-2008 12:43 PM

You know what I hate?

I hate when people wear sandals/open toed shoes with hose! During the summer! With pants! Especially when they're under 80!

WORST. LOOK. EVER.

Scandia 10-27-2008 12:46 PM

No, they are not hot. They have no concept of what good taste in clothing is.

Even if you were a male model, I still think you should observe rules of decorum. This is a library, not a beauty contest.

Benzgirl 10-27-2008 12:46 PM

Women who wear black who have no business wearing black....LIKE ME!

It amazes me the number of women who think wearing a black turtleneck or crew neck is cool, but they resemble the dead when they wear it. Only about 10% of women look great in black, and about 25% can get away with it. Just because black is cool, doesn't mean you look good in it.

ThetaPrincess24 10-27-2008 01:39 PM

I think it is a fashion crime for women to wear black/dark colored bras under white/light colored t-shirts (or atleast shirt that the material is thin enough to see through it).

They make nude colored lingerie for a reason!!

Coincidentally, here's how the website described it:

Funnily enough, a shire horse is more or less what these boots remind me off, with the hairy trim helping to create the illusion of some thick fetlocks around the wearers ankles. It's not a look I love, but if you want to make like Solange and buy a pair of these for yourself, they're $910 and can be bought direct from Sergio Rossi.

agzg 10-27-2008 04:05 PM

Uggs and shorts - why would you do that??

ASTalumna06 10-27-2008 04:09 PM

From the website that LightBulb mentioned...

http://www.shoewawa.com/prada-spring08-flower-mj.jpg

by Prada. And they're only $750!

tinydancer 10-27-2008 04:14 PM

That website is a hoot! I actually have those Cali rubber shoes in pink (they are yellow on the site) and they are comfortable as all getout. I should get extra Gammie points for having pink shoes.;)

Gee, but it's in our colors (sort of). We'd be the belles of recruitment.

VandalSquirrel 10-27-2008 08:35 PM

I saw this unfortunate girl today, beige Uggs with black knit gaucho pants. It was so unflattering. Those pants are so four years ago, and Uggs are just FUG. I realize it has been down below freezing at night, but it was 65 today.

Oh and people need to stop wearing cat ears as a fashion accessory.

LOL @ gauchos. A girl I work with and I were discussing those pants just a few days ago. I could not imagine what they would look like with Uggs. Oh no.

I've wanted to ask some of the students where I teach that same question.

Since when is a blanket a fashion statement...or a spiderman, disney princess, etc...back pack when one is in HS? I'm :o for some of the students sometimes.

WinniBug 10-28-2008 07:36 AM

I've never liked Uggs
But then, that might be b/c my feet start to sweat just looking at them....

Clearly! And question... are they technically our colors? I've heard some things about purple, but no one has confirmed this for me.

Online, I've only found a few things saying that purple used to be one of our colors, but they're not the most reliable sources. Wiki says that our colors were originally purple and gold but another sorority on campus was already using those colors, so they changed them (I know Wiki isn't always accurate).

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Alpha_S...tional_symbols

And this site, under "Alpha Sigma Tau" says, "Alpha Sigma Tau's colors are purple and gold"... I know that's clearly wrong now, but still, it says it.

http://www.thestationerystudio.com/i...Sigma_Tau.html

Any idea?

Tell me about it - I'm trying to find a pair of gold shoes, and every pair I've seen has either an open toe or is a sandal!

True, but I'm pretty certain the colors have been emerald and gold since our founding year.

I don't think that stationery is specifically meant for ASTs. It probably comes in different colors, but the website only took pictures of one variety (yet still tagged a bunch of sororities for it). You could probably order it in emerald and gold.

Oh wait, I see where it says that. Yeah, somebody didn't do her/his homework. Cool stamps though.

It's bigfoot!! Wait! Is it a Yeti or a yak??

WCsweet<3 10-28-2008 02:52 PM

The only time I can say yes to Uggs is in Colorado in the fall/winter when that dry, bone chilling wind comes about.
I cant stand them anywhere else, especially when worn with boxer like shorts and a tank top. I mean really, what's wrong with you?

I'm also surprised I'm the first to mention this, but crocs. I cannot find one valid reason for wearing them. Get flip flops for the shower!

Also slippers. The Ugg company made some slipper clog combination that has taken off by storm here and I cannot understand it. Slippers are comfortable and all, but I would hate to walk around all day in them.

LightBulb 10-28-2008 03:37 PM

Anybody need some wedding shoes?

http://i36.tinypic.com/2cynpk4.jpg

ETA: Those toes look like they're in pain!

BadCat25 10-28-2008 06:29 PM

My mom thought I was a fashion crime this summer when I would go out with my GF's in daisy dukes and a crop top. She said I looked like I should be standing on a street corner.

The heels look like a Mrs. Butterworth's bottle.

It was almost 40 degrees outside and I saw a girl wearing UGGs and a skirt today.

I love my UGGs (because I live in Ohio where it is FREEZING during winter). However, they are NOT meant to be worn with shorts, skirts, dresses, etc.

I saw a girl in the same weather, in uggs, a miniskirt, a short sleeved tshirt, and a thin scarf. Outside. What's with people?
