That's incredibly sad - she just got engaged, too.

Velocity_14 10-24-2008 09:17 PM

I just received an email about this. This is really sad and I am certainly praying for she and her family...

Not a surprise that they're moving so quickly - high profile case like this, they're probably putting a little extra manpower behind the investigation.

Taualumna 10-25-2008 04:40 PM

But they still have no idea where the little boy is.

What a horrible, terrible crime. I hope that little boy is ok, I can't imagine what his mother and Jennifer are going through right now.

Some people just don't want to get involved for whatever reason. When my friend's house was broken into (and they took practically everything, including a car) the neighbors saw everything. But none spoke up.

It also seems as though they might be in an area with a higher crime rate, so maybe gunshots isn't that unusual???

KSUViolet06 10-26-2008 11:01 PM

Jennifer and family have posted a Myspace blog with pictures of Julian and who to contact if anyone sees him:

Haven't seen a report confirming it's King. Just that a child's body was found in a white SUV matching the description of the one that was missing (same license plate). That sounds pretty definite though.

ETA: I was really hoping he had gotten away and was hiding somewhere, scared.

BabyPiNK_FL 10-27-2008 11:31 AM

I seriously hope this man gets death. Does Illinois have the death penalty?

ETA: NM-YES THEY DO! GOOD!

KSUViolet06 10-27-2008 03:38 PM

CNN is confirming that boy found in the SUV is indeed Hudson's nephew Julian. Press conference with Chicago police to be expected within the next hour.

They might as well not. They have executed 12 people between 1962 and now with the first coming in 1990 and the last coming in 1999 (all under Republican governors). Ryan suspended the death penalty in I think 2001 and commuted the sentences of everyone on death row. I think it has since been reinstated, but I don't see Illinois using it again any time soon.

Yeah. The death penalty is highly unlikely, unless Illiois decides it wants to make a statement in this case because it's relatively high profile.

PM_Mama00 10-27-2008 08:18 PM

This is sick. Did they say what the motive was?

KSUViolet06 10-27-2008 08:33 PM

I haven't heard anything official about a motive, but maybe they were originally planning to hold the kid for ransom (hoping that Jennifer or family would cough up some money)?

nittanyalum 10-27-2008 08:44 PM

Absolutely heartbreaking. :(

pinksirfidel 10-27-2008 10:34 PM

I'm watching Nancy Grace... a chill went up my arm when I heard about the little boy... sad, just sad :(

I don't think so. At least one of the neighbors where the truck was found recalls it being there since (if I recall the article correctly) Saturday or Sunday...they didn't even put two and two together for the longest! And then the neighbors not even calling 911 after hearing gun shots-there appears to be a band of dimwits residing in certain neighborhoods.

I honestly cried this morning. There is no reason to kill a child.

Dionysus 10-27-2008 10:45 PM

When you're in the hood you're used to hearing gunshots. And, don't forget about the "no snitching" rule that some follow.

BabyPiNK_FL 10-28-2008 12:24 AM

Well I understand that. But I obviously grew up differently as my father is an officer of the law. I know that you can't always trust the police (some depts. or individual cops are really just a joke), but if you live next to me, rest assured if there is significant or unusual trouble in your home, I'm dialing 911! That's just me and that's just my nature. Help if you can.

This is no joke. We have a high-risk youth program where I work and some of these kids have witnessed things that no child should have to see. They allude to things that have happened but they would NEVER go to the police over anything that happens outside of their own "families." And, if something happens within their "families" they take care of it themselves.

Very true. I know that people think "What? Why don't they just tell someone!?" but that's honestly not all to the story. Yes it seems outlandish that one would keep this kind of thing quiet, but that is how they have grown up.

I totally understand where you are coming from, BabyPink. I, due to my parents, live in a better part of Chicago where I could walk down the block and talk to my alderman if I wanted to. But if I go visit my friends in Hyde Park (outside of U of Chicago), I keep walking if I see something up. Sorry, but I am not putting myself at risk. Risk here being greater than just getting mugged.

The next line I think is worse:

"He was with Diana that night and with Kate in the morning," she said.

Woooow.

Although stuff can happen anywhere, I wouldn't classify Hyde Park as a "rough" area. Hyde Park has pockets, meaning there are little areas where you might want to be a bit more careful. On a side note, stuff has really gotten out of hand in this city, especially in Englewood in the past 3 years.

lillady85 12-02-2008 06:26 PM

Hyde Park isn't the worst area, but there are trouble spots. Plus, once you head out of the U of C area, it gets progressively worse.

And yes, the city has gotten worse. It makes me sad to see my city slowly destroying parts of itself.
