Majors everyone!
Hey everybody! I know we have talked about majors before but we never really got down to what everyone's majors where so I am now!! :) So I guess what we should do is list our majors and why we choose it!!
Ok mine is Child Psychology and I choose it b/c I am all about psychology. I have always been interested in it for some reason. I just love to help people with their problems. And I also love children. So thats where the Child part comes in. The way I see it if I was to become an adult psychologist I dont think I would be getting very far. Where as I could change a child's life forever!! anyways those are my thoughts. I wanna hear all about yours too! Nichole |
Mass Communication and Law
Mass Communication, because i like TV, matter of fact I love TV, I am a TV and Movie addict! So therefore I learned and am still learning all the behind the making and all that other cool stuff. As for Law, I like the whole deal of u know jutice and liberty for all , so I want to make everyone gets their fair deal kinda thing, ya know. DGPhoney~ |
I'm a Spanish Major with a minor in Linguistics
In high school, I wanted to be an enviromental science major, so I decided that I better take some spanish so I can go down to the rainforest and communicate with the native ppls. But as fate would have it, I ended up enjoying language more than the science part of it. Then I added the scientific study of language as a minor and I found what was right for me. |
Another psychology girl here. For undergrad here you can't declare things like "child" or "human factors" so mine is just plain. I'm not entirely sure what I'm going to do other than continue with it through grad school. I've debated school and clinical psych along with school, marriage & family and addictions counseling. In a perfect world I'd get into a PhD program right from undergrad & go into clinical in order to run my own practice. We'll see.

im an economics major with a minor in spanish :)

Major: Chemistry
Minor: Psychology Pre-med concentration |
I'm double majoring in Theatre and Mass Communications with a concentration in Public Relations...
I'm contemplating Minoring in Poli Sci Why? Because, 1) I LOVE THEATRE. It's my first love. 2) I work in the hospitality industry and I love people. 3) The poli Sci thing is because I love goverment and politics. Always, jessica |
Major: Marketing
Minor: Sociology |
I'm a biomedical engineering major, with a minor in english. Eh, I like it, that's what's important right?
|
Major:Advertising
Minor:Fashion Design |
I'm doubling--Architectural Studies and Urban Studies. Most of the classes overlap, which is cool. My language focus is Italian. I actually considered tripling in American Civilization, but decided against it...:p I love my concentrations! Brown's odd in that you don't have any required classes outside of your concentrations (majors), so no one's stuck in any general education requirements.

I'm an alum, and I've spent about 3 years out in the "real world" :) but I was a computer science major with a minor in economics. CS was my first interest but I'm glad I did economics ~ it gave me the mindset for business. :)

BA in Communications, working in management in the telecommunications industry.
|
Electrical Engineering with all intentions of getting into law school for patent law. I chose Engineering simply because I was good at math and science and I didn't want to teach..and I hated Chemistry, so I figured Engineering was a good route. Wrong, I dislike it, I'm basically bearing it out until I can get into law school...only 2 more years
|
Major: Sociology
Minor: Criminology |
Major: Information Systems
I plan on going to law school next year - I want to do intellectual property law/internet law. I like IS and all, but this degree is just really a route into law school. But I figure if I burnout in law, I'll still have a tech degree to fall back on. :) |
I have a BA in history with a minor in political science. I will be writing my LSATs in a few months time.
|
I'll officially have my BSW degree in May 2002. I really don't know why I chose social work...its basically the one I settled on and happened to enjoy. I came into college as a History/Political Science major then I changed it to Psychology.
I'm applying to grad school now; however, I'm interested in the following programs: 1) Masters of Social Work 2) Master of Public Administration w/ a specialization in Community Development and Nonprofit Management 3) Master of Divinity My goal is open a Christian based housing facility for children/adolescents who have been abused and neglected. This same center will also be an adoption recruitment and placement agency. |
what is your major?
I am an emergency veterinarian (I know a lot of people watch " emergency vets" on the animal planet channel-that is exactly what I do-

I never did say what my minor was and now I see that everyone is posting those too. :) So here is mine! My minor is vocal music!! Yes I love to sing Its my major passion!!

Major: Information Systems and Decision Sciences
Minor: getting trough college alive. ;) |
Technical Graphics
No minor-it's a huge major. I tried minoring in Historic Preservataion, but when I sat down and figured it out, I'd be in school 6 years just for my undergrad. Ick. I love old stuff-houses, especially. I'd like to do residential architecture for people, but don't know if I can hack in in Arch. school. Plus the economy for new houses sucks right now. We'll see....... |
I've always been a techie at heart so I'm majoring in computer science and also minoring in French (just fell in love with the language when i took it in high school, can't bear to just stop studying it and end up forgetting it).
However, i might change my major to OMIS/operations management information systems, just so i am not stuck as a programmer for the rest of my life and i can be flexible enough to go on a business route :) |
Well, I would like to be a public relations major, however SDSU is a huge school with many departments that are impacted. The communications department just happens to be one of them, and public relations is an emphasis in the communications department. What does all this mean?! Well, in order to get into a major in the communications department you must pass the GSP test (grammar, spelling, and punctuation) with a score of 77 out of 100. Sounds easy, right? WRONG! This test is a crack head test where there are style questions, and parts that don't even make sence. The statistic is that only 1 out of every 5 people will pass the test. Here's the kicker, you are only allowed 3 chances to take it. It is a load of crap! Anyway, I have taken it twice and not passed it. So this semester I have to pass it only final attempt, or I will be changing my major to marketing.
