how old were you when you stopped trick-or-treating?
I'm pretty sure I stopped in 5th grade when my neighborhood moved to daytime trick-or-treating, which made it WAY less fun--no one wants to trick-or-treat at like 4:00.
Even though I'm older now, I still somehow end up taking my younger cousins trick-or-treating every year. It's no fun now because it's FREEZING out and they walk way too slow. They got mad at me last year because I insisted on driving them to different blocks, instead of letting them walk in the freezing Ohio cold. |
11, but I returned for an encore performance at 14.

I believe my finale was at 9 when I was in 4th grade. By fifth grade I had moved to a less safe neighborhood. |
Stop? I was supposed to stop?
|
I think it was 4th or 5th grade. After that I just helped my parents hand out candy.

There was a girl trick or treating last year in my parent's neighborhood wearing a "sexy Bo-Peep" costume, and she was a freshman in COLLEGE. |

Are you sure she wasn't doing "Trick or Beer?" |

I know I completely stopped at 15 b/c of September 11. We used to trick or treat on base, and after 9/11 they didn't allow that anymore. |
I think I stopped when I was 13 - mostly because my friends were less interested in getting candy than hitting everyone else with shaving cream, and since I was a "big kid" and one of their friends I got nailed and they ruined my costume. :(
I'd probably still be trick-or-treating if they hadn't done that. I'm excited because my neighbor downstairs is in 3rd grade, and he's not going trick-or-treating beyond this block of our street, so live-in and I are going to do a reverse trick-or-treat with lots of goodies. His dad is going to loooooooooooove us. |
I'm pretty sure I stopped in 7th grade.
And then I went once during High School when a group of friends decided to trick or treat as we walked to a Halloween party. I don’t mind if older kids come trick or treating just as long as their dressed up and polite. |
My roommate and I went trick-or-treating our freshman year of college. :D
We did double duty, though, and acted as escorts for the kids after we saw how many there were whose parents let them go alone. |
The last time I went trick-or-treating in earnest, I was 14 and went with friends. When I was 17, those same friends and I went trick-or-treating, but it wasn't really going door-to-door seeking candy -- we pretty much went to houses of guys we liked and made silly small talk.
That same group of friends and I dressed up and did a bit of trick-or-treating when we were 22, because we thought it would be random and funny. We actually got a great reaction from people whose homes we visited! :) |
I think I was 20. I think I was a hippie and BF was Spider Man. Honestly, why should I pass up the best holiday ever created b/c of an age? I would have gone when I was 21, but that's when I started going to parties or events instead. I'd probably go this year, but I'll be out of town. My neighbor (my age) usually came with me too. :D

When we were at West Point, the cadets drove around the post in open-backed transport vehicles and tossed candy to the military kids who were out trick-or-treating in the neighborhoods.

Some people may have stopped trick or treating but some never stopped tricking....heh

I stopped trick-or-treating when I was 10. It just wasn't worth the trouble. I was allowed to trick-or-treat from the time I got home from Catholic school and got into costume, until the time my parents took me home to change into church clothes for the All Saints' Day vigil Mass. The church offered two vigil Masses, at 5:15 and 7:15, and my parents forced me to go with them to the 5:15 Mass. (Most parents let their kids go out and then took them to 7:15 Mass.) This left me, hmmm... half an hour of trick-or-treating time, all of it during broad daylight. It just wasn't fun.
</bitter rant> |
Oh idk when I stopped.... My street gets a lot of families driving in from the city (the street behind me is known for a few houses that give out king size candy bars) so eventually i stopped going out and started handing out. . . To kids their parents and the parents 2month old who was at home and also needed to candy. . . It gets a bit crazy but its fun to watch we tend to go through over 1,000 pieces of candy in about 2 1/2 hours. . .

i have never trick-or-treated in my life
:( |
I was maybe 11 or 12. I remember 4th and 5th grade we were pretty much hooligans who wanted candy. And then that got old.
Also, NO ONE comes to my building for Halloween. So, I never get to see what the cool costumes are. I wish I could go again, it seems like that was the one time of year I was guarteed to see everyone from the neighborhood, or at least very many of them. |
I think i was 13 then made a repeat at 17 for what my group of friends called "our last time as kids". Now we all just buy our favorite bag of candy and pig out :)
|
I now celebrate "Happy Half Price Candy Day" on November 1st. :D
|
You mean you are supposed to stop at some point?! :D
I stopped at 18. Trick or treating in the dorms is fun. :) |
I went for my last round when I was 11. I don't remember what I was...I think I was some sort of princess (yeah, I know....a little childish for a kid in Grade 6).
