Fall Rush
How is rush going for everyone? Our chapters are ALL doing very well, and I'm curious if that is a general trend?
|
Ours are done and did well.

as a rushie it didnt go so well for me. I focused on one chapter the first weeks before rush (the number 1 mistake) and that fell through so during rush week i was scurrying around trying to meet enough people from the chapters that i was also interested in. In the end i didnt meet enough guys in the two i ended up rushing (we had unformal rush so i could only go to a couple events for only a couple houses), but was told by a few houses to meet more people this semester and try again in the spring, which is what im going to do. This is probably a blessing in disguise because i now have a chance to relax and really put quality effort in trying to find a chapter that fits me best.

From Delta Chi's website, their top 5 groups: Arizona State 30 South Florida 30 Michigan State 29 Long Beach State 28 Texas Tech 28 http://deltachi.org/ More on their website. Alpha Kappa Lambda also lists recruitment numbers publicly.http://akl.org/recruitmentdata/index.html I wish more members of NIC would do this. Just interesting to see how everybody is doing. |
Here are a few for Sigma Nu that I was able to track down:
University of Arkansas (Gamma Upsilon) - 50 Auburn University (Beta Theta) - 41 University of Iowa (Beta Mu) - 36 Florida State University (Zeta Zeta) - 35 University of Kansas (Nu) - 33 University of Colorado (Gamma Kappa) - 31 Louisiana State University (Phi) - 31 University of Georgia (Mu) - 27 South Carolina (Delta) - 27 UCLA (Epsilon Pi) - 27 Texas Tech (Zeta Pi) - 24 University of California Irvine (Lambda Omicron) - 24 Northern Illinois (Theta Eta) - 23 Birmingham-Southern University - 22 University of Tennessee (Epsilon Eta) - 18 Central Oklahoma (Mu Tau) - 16 Fresno State (Zeta Kappa) - 16 Mississippi State University (Iota Gamma colony) - 14 |
Here are some of ours:
MIT 19 (biggest on campus) Washington-18 (reactivation) UBC-25 Illinois-25 UMass-13 UConn-10 (new group) Minn-12+ (biggest fall class in over ten years) |
What fraternity?

I've heard rumors of as many as 64 and as few as 56. |
I don't know about nationally, but on our campus numbers are down huge past two years. Fall classes are always small but still...tenative number for us is 5 which is the top number on campus this rush...pitiful.
Looking for 20 in the spring, or graduation is going to hurt. |

Thanks.
Sigma Nu had a veeeeeeeeerrry interesting rush this year. I know for a fact that the 50 number is at least really 48. Maybe less. |
It started at 50.
I know one ol' boy got balled, so that's 49. Could be less now. |

"Get in there, or you're cut" "Mommy, they were so mean to me!" They gave out 50 on bid day, but that doesn't necessarily mean that everyone wants to show up and go there. On Bid Day it's inevitable lose one or two. They lost another as well that quit the day of. |
we're not even done yet. Anyone else on quarters?
|
We had fewer men go through IFC rush this year at Florida State, but more men ended up pledging overall. Strange. IFC guesses it may be the result of what they call "Previews" where rushees can go around fo 20 minutes to each fraternity house the week before open rush. It may sift out the rushees serious about pledging. Everyone says the numbers were off, but all 21 fraternities seem to be pleased with the ize and quality of their classes.
It's hard to get accurate pledge class numbers. There might be two in the high 50s. Except for a few, everyone seemed to get solid classes. |
Sigma Chi results that I have been given.
Mississippi State - 65 Arkansas State- 21 University of Tennessee/Martin- 16 Middle Tennessee-15 Western Illinois-15 Western Connecticut-15 Santa Clara (colony)- 11 |
Delta Upsilon's top 10 recruiting chapters
Oklahoma - 61 pledges Central Florida - 38 Kansas - 36 Illinois - 33 Kansas State - 32 Bradley and Mizzou - both 27 Wichita State - 26 North Florida and Western Illinois - both 23 |
Alpha Kappa Lambda's top 5 classes
Alabama - 36 Purdue - 30 Idaho - 22 Missouri State - 20 Boise State - 13 |
jesus some of these numbers are insane. Santa Clara is on quarters, we are doing winter rush after we get installed along with the other fraternities, but we took in 11 pledges this fall so we would have enough to get installed (we now have 36 total no freshmen).

I was only sort of impressed by Delta Upsilon at Oklahoma cuz I didn't know they even existed there. |
