So what do GCers listen to driving to and from work/school? NPR radio, iPod music, CDs, mixed music? Dead silence? :)

I usually listen to a mixed playlist, but it's generally music like this:

NPR. I'm an NPR addict.
But I DO have a bright pink hummer. How did you know?

I listen to NPR, too.:D

NPR, or if I'm driving at night, I have some podcasts I like to listen to. Among them, The Moth, Stuff You Missed in History Class, Dan Carlin's Hardcore History (and his political show), Left, Right & Center, some Slate podcasts, etc.

NPR after 8 or 9 around here turns into a jazz/world music channel.

Bob & the Showgram on G105.

I even use the proxy server at school and listen to it for the hour I'm at school before students arrive. :p

Elliot in the Morning on DC101 before work, WTOP 103.5 on the way home (news, weather, traffic, etc). Traffic is such a huge thing in the DC metro area, you really need it updated every few minutes to figure out if your half hour commute is going to take 3-4 hours.

If I'm feeling up to some music, I'll pop in a cd. I have Marina and the Diamonds, Beach House, the Deftones, Crystal Castles and all sorts of weird stuff floating in my car.

Morning - I will listen to any one of the local morning shows (mostly Top 40 or Urban)

Afternoon / Lunch / Ride home - I'll listen to my iPod

My office is ~8 minutes from my house, though, so I don't get much radio time lol

The majority of the time, I take public transportation, so I usually just listen to my personal music library on my iPhone or Pandora (usually my Beatles station).

On the rare occasions when I drive, I listen to local radio morning shows on the way in and news/sports radio on the way home (really, I only listen to the sports shows during the summer when it's all about the Sox).

My commute is only about 15 minutes long, so I just listen to whatever is in my iPod. I always try to make it something upbeat going into work, and something more low-key when leaving. Flo Rida's "Good Feeling" is the last song I listen to before getting out of my car in the morning. The last song usually changes every couple months.

Oh, and if I hit the timing just right, on my way home, I'll listen to 103.5 KTU New York's The War of the Roses. If you don't know what it is, look it up. Hilarious.

Local pop station in the morning, 700 WLW talk radio on the way home.

I don't drive, but I do run anywhere between 1-3 hours every day. I listen to a few favorite podcasts (This American Life, Wait Wait Don't Tell Me, How to Do Everything, and Radiolab). I also have a subscription to Audible and get two credits a month to spend on audiobooks -- I just finished the A Song of Ice and Fire books and am starting work on the Stephen King Dark Tower series.

My commute is on public transportation and takes about 30 minutes, and I usually read my Kindle rather than wearing headphones. I work in a not-great area and two of my coworkers have been mugged for their iPhones while wearing headphones so far in 2012.

It really depends on my mood. Usually in the morning I listen to J Powers and the morning crew on 100.3 (Detroit station). On the way home, it's usually XM Radio: channels I tend to stop at are:
8: 80s on 8
9: 90s on 9
10: The Pulse
72: On Broadway
13: Some lite radio station out of NYC
16 (I think): The Blend
31: Coffee House - cool acoustic versions of lots of different music
And, I forget the new number for Alt Nation, used to be 47 but I think it's 36 now. It's all pre-programmed.

Or I plug my ipod into my car and listen to a playlist, which could be anything from "girl songs" which includes Pink, Lady Gaga, Lady Antebellum and Bruno Mars to "musicals" which has all my musicals on it, to 70s stuff like John Denver to 80s bands- Journey, Queen, REO, etc.

I have some 90s country music on my ipod also, like Garth Brooks and Reba.

It totally depends on what fits my mood that day. I don't listen to rap or r&b or new country much.. or bluegrass kind of country. Sometimes I'll go to a jazz or classical station, sometimes comedy, sometimes news.

I tried to find a really cool cruising gif, but that's all I could find.:o

I like NPR, too. Diane Rehm is the best. She sounds like she's really old, but from what people have told me, she isn't.
