One more, if you think it's worth posting in the master list-- it's just for

check out LSU Panhellenic's site for much more information:

Sure it's worth posting - I'm a little behind because I've been without power for 6 days - just got it back. Huge ice storm here last weekend.

Holy cow, irishpipes! I'm so sorry to hear about that, but happy that you got power back. Hope you and family and friends are okay.

You're certainly going to have a survival story to tell.

All the best ------

Yes we've had about a million people in our state without power, phone, etc. since last Sunday and the media has barely covered it. I know my brother in Philadelphia only heard one story on it. Guess that's what happens when you live in fly-over territory.

To make a quick correction to University of the Pacific in Stockton, CA:

Unfortunately, Alpha Chi Omega is no longer on our campus - we're the main campus, so Alpha Chi Omega could have chapters at the San Francisco or Sacramento campuses (but that chapter is no longer on our campus). Sorry about that, thanks.

Here's an article about Indiana's recruitment. It doesn't give too much numerical information, but does state that AOPi gave out 58 bids.

Irishpipes, you can add an inactive chapter to UTEP's (university of texas el paso)---Delta Gamma. I'm not sure the years though.

Without counting COBs, the numbers are:

I have been told quota at Washington University in St. Louis is 41, not 38 like what you have. It was 38 last year. DG got 42 (quota + 1).

UVa matched 603 women according to the Cavalier Daily. There are 15 NPC GLOs there.
http://www.cavalierdaily.com/CVArtic...32108&pid=1670

My D's former hs teammate just pledged Chi O there which happened to be the same chapter where my S's 5th grade teacher was an active.

ADPi took 45 women which will make another friend very happy as HER daughter is the Recruitment Chair there.

I have always wondered why there isn't more interest in sororities at Ohio State? The campus with the largest undergrad enrollment in the country and only 300-some-odd women pledge each year?

Alpha Delta Pi had a chapter there until about 4-5 years ago. They had decent memberships numbers, but no one would live in the house. I'm sure there were more issues than that, but IMHO, when you have a somewhat urban campus, people often find more to do than greek life permits.

This is a good example of North vs. South. OSU is a pretty liberal university, and a lot of students come in with pre-conceived notions that they don't fit the stereotype (I have a niece in that situation right now). Also, there is so much to do on the campus that you really don't need a GLO to become involved in leadership. I think only 3-5% of undergrads that are Greek.

Sororities are limited to a house total of 100, so low pledge numbers may or may not mean they are already at total. When I was in school, total was 105 and 15 of the 18 houses were full. Now, there are only 14 chapters, but loads of Multi-Cultural chapters

I'm not sure if they have early release. I know in last year's FR, many of the traditionally more popular houses did not make quota or total, which is why Alpha Gamma Delta did so well during their re-colonization, which followed Formal Rush.

Except for Miami of Ohio, the state of Ohio in general is not a big Greek conclave. Growing up, the only thing I knew about GLOs was that my cousin was in one (didn't even know that my dad was Greek). It isn't the center of your life, your parents do not necessarily have the same friends they did in school or college, there were no teas or preparation, and nothing was mentioned about GLOs at my high school. When I was going through Rush and for the first time read about Recs, my mom had to ask around to find women that were in sororities. It turns out, many of her friends were Greek, but she didn't know it because it never came into a conversation.

Most houses are now doing COB, which was unheard of when I was in school in the 80s. I don't have the exact number that went through recruitment, but I was to say that I heard 800-900 were signed up.

You are correct. The same year that ADPi left, so did DPhiE. Sigma Delta Tau and Phi Mu left in the 90s and Zeta Tau Alpha have left in the late 80s. Kappa Delta did a huge recolonization in the 80s which took them from a low of 20 members to total.

Many of the houses are physically large. Ours held 56 (out of 100 in the chapter), so when you back out pledges, those traveling abroad and locals, it basically means everyone has to live in the house. This has been a big problem for several chapters

Only three chapters made quota? Is that normal at OSU?

No it's not. From what I was told, a lot of girls suicided and lost.

One of the traditionally strongest chapters took one of the lowest pledge classes, but they always compete with the same girls as one chapter that took quota.

Also, two chapters that didn't take quota -- Kappa Delta and Alpha Phi -- couldn't take quota because it would take them over chapter total of 100.
