Granted, almost everyone was garbage last night, but I can't believe the judges thought Blake was the best...his vocal and performance were awful!

What was that dirty DeBarge look that Sanjaya was wearing?!?

xo_kathy 04-11-2007 10:43 AM

I actually think Sanjaya sounded pretty darn good last night. He got the feeling of the song. He actually sounded better in the Spanish portion than the English portion, but overall, I think he was good (though I hated the facial hair!).

I thought Blake was boring.

I thought Chris was horrid - why do they think he is so good? The end of the song got better, but the first part was terrible!!!

Dialidaol.com has Jordin and LaKisha in the bottom 2 - it would be a real shame if one of them went before Sanjaya or Hailey (or Phil, or Blake, or Chris, or anyone but Melinda really!)

irishpipes 04-11-2007 11:59 AM

I thought Sunjaya was bad. Parts of the song were acceptable, but other parts were not good. And Simon didn't say he was good, he said, "that wasn't horrible."

I thought LaKisha picked a bad song because it didn't showcase her voice at all. Same with Melinda. But they weren't bad - that wouldn't be possible. They just weren't as exceptional as usual.

I thought Blake and Jordin did the best vocally and Chris was ok too. Haley was just, well, embarrassing. Phil and his big teeth need to go.

Predicted Bottom 2:
Haley
Phil

My bottom 2:
Haley
Sunjaya

And was it just me, or does J Lo "turn on the Latin" when she wants to? She seemed to speak with more of an accent than I remember her usually having. Granted, I'm not a fan of hers so I don't follow her much, but I don't remember her sounding that way before.

I agree. I don't understand why they constantly tongue-bathe both Blake and Chris Richardson. I think they're both awful. Then they criticize Phil Stacey but I think that he's actually pretty good!

I wanted someone to sing J.Lo's "Let's Get Loud". I think that would've been a fun, contemporary song.

About her accent, I'm not sure where it comes from either. I remember hearing one time that she doesn't even know how to speak Spanish - she's a native English speaker.

Keep in mind that she is from the Bronx, and they do have a certain accent. But also Mark Anthony has a definite accent, and when you spend alot of time with someone, sometimes you pick up their accent. It's happened to me when I've gone to NY for even just a week. My brother took my niece there to visit family and years later she still says some things like them.

I've never heard of that site before... do they have a pretty good accuracy in predicting the bottom 2?

I visited religiously last year the morning after each voting show and it was VERY accurate. This year they seem to be covering their asses and they say it's "too close to call" and have about 6 or 7 of them who could be in the bottom. Often the ones they had near the middle have been sent home this season.

That is so true. When I hang out with my friends from Minnesota, I start to talk like them a little, and I've never even been to MN!

Tell me about it.

I spent a few days with DolphinChicaDDD and her friend (another Jersey Girl) and by last night I was saying "coffee" and "sauce" different.

That makes me sad!! If Jordin is voted off, I'm going to stop watching!!!!!

I think I could understand LaKisha maybe... her performance was really generic this week.

texas*princess 04-11-2007 10:00 PM

bottom 3: Phil, Haley, Chris

Haley gone.... yay!

Now to get Sanjuya off.....

mu_agd 04-11-2007 11:00 PM

All the spoiler sources and predictions sites had Lakisha going home... hhmm... Apparently Lythgoe gave an interview saying that tonight would be a big shocker. I didn't think that was a big shocker. But I did like Haley and would have preferred to see Phil go ahead of her. I think she could have done really well at country night next week.

---->we are here<------ Did Sanjaya remind you a little of a scruffy Prince? I'm glad Haley went home. She's too soft to be in the entertainment industry. Too much crying for me. It's not ANTM!

texas*princess 04-17-2007 08:35 PM

LaKisha - I don't think I like you. All you do is scream into your microphone. Ouch.

And you completely screwed up a nice song. I hope you get voted off for all your shouting.

I agree. She was HORRIBLE  She completely murdered a beautiful song.

And Sanjaya sounded like he was drunk...

LeslieAGD 04-17-2007 09:39 PM

I think Phil, Jordin, and Melinda were the stand-outs tonight.

I'm sorry, but I don't understand why the judges kiss Blake's tushie...
IMO, he's been getting progressively worse and so bland each week.

I'm afraid to say it for fear of getting my hopes up...
but this might actually be the week Sanjaya goes home!
(if not, then my guess is Chris Richardson)

ZTAngel 04-17-2007 09:44 PM

Oh, Lakisha. Shouting does not equal singing. You hurt my ears!

MTSUGURL 04-17-2007 10:46 PM

So far Sanjaya has been saved by a couple of things - the publicity from that little crying brat that suddenly was on every channel, votefortheworst.com (which is freaking HILARIOUS, btw - it's amazing how upset people get), and interesting hair.

Tonight, I think that the hair was not interesting enough to save him. I really hope he's gone. He hurts my ears and my feelings.

Melinda and Jordin are my favorites, but I love Blake. I want to make out with his voice. Not him. Just his voice. Mainly because of the song he sang during the British Invasion week. I'm taking a cd of him singing that song on my honeymoon.

tinydancer 04-17-2007 10:52 PM

I didn't know some of the songs, because I don't listen to country music, but I really did like Blake's song.

I feel sorry for Ryan Adams, the dude who originally did "When the Stars Go Blue." Honestly? I liked the song better when Bono did it with the Corrs.

I was never a big Tim McGraw fan and thought he butchered it. I hate thinking that he's going to be the one who made it "popular".

I thought Jordin looked absolutely beautiful tonight.

Still, tonight was just a "meh" night.

I thought it was weird that it came off like a Tim McGraw original song. I was like, Um what about Ryan Adams! It's his song! I think Tim McGraw is like the fourth person to record it, the OTH recording was before it even I want to say.

ΑΓΔSquirrel10 04-18-2007 09:57 PM

OMG!!!!!!!!!!

SANJAYA WAS SENT HOME!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! !!!!!

GOD IS GOOD!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! :D:D:D:D:D

deadbear80 04-18-2007 09:57 PM

About.

Damn.

Time.

(that's all she wrote;) )

Praise the Lord!

ZTAngel 04-18-2007 09:58 PM

Finally.

Xylochick216 04-18-2007 10:00 PM

THANK GOD!

Now Chris needs to go. He has been horrible the past few weeks and he absolutely butchered one of my favorite Rascal Flatts songs.

You're right. The OTH recording Tyler Hilton and Bethany Joy Lenz did was right before Tim McGraw did his version. I thought they did a pretty good job with it.

And then I remember being at Nashville's Waikiki and it came on and I remember screaming, "What the fcuk is this crap?" to everyone in the bar.

But yay. Sanjaya. Don't let the door hit you on your way out.

Dial Idol was showing him as being in the bottom.. but then they haven't been all that accurate this season.

I wonder if Ryan Adams is pissed that they kept saying When the Stars Go Blue is a Tim McGraw song.

Just ask Dolly Parton what she thinks of Whitney and "I Will Always Love You". ;)

I have a chapter sister who didn't believe that it was actually a song pre-Tim McGraw.

I sent her the mp3s of Ryan Adams, Bono/Corrs, and OTH and even she agreed that those versions are way better.

dzfan 04-19-2007 04:26 PM

glad Sanjaya was kicked but sort of felt sorry for him when he started to cry last night -- did anyone else??

Urgent question

OK, believe it or not, I need to know the answer of this question for WORK! I cannot find the answer on any AI Web sites.

Can any of you tell me what the air date is for this season's final competition show and the finale (reveal) show?

As I much as I disliked Sanjaya, I did begin to feel bad for him. The poor kid was BAWLING onstage! Of course I wanted to cry whenever the kid opened his mouth to sing, so I guess we're even ;)

Good point! Which is also one of the reasons we've rarely heard that song on idol.. I don't think Dolly has released the rights to it.

I love Tim McGraw and all but I hate his version of When the Stars Go Blue.

OMG. I heard Sanjaya was kicked off at work, but I didn't believe it....

... and he was BAWLING!!

And because I'm a heartless meanyhead, here, for your re-viewing pleasure is the audience erupting in applause after Sanjaya was booted:
