I'm not much of a concert-goer, but I did get to see Beyonce performing at the Revel in Atlantic City this past May and I was blown away. So, so gorgeous and an awesome performer.

Prior to that, I saw Styx and REO Speedwagon a couple of years ago (yeah, I love my eighties music) and I've gone to a couple HFStivals.

I'm taking my daughters to The I Heart Music Festival and I expect that will be a lot of fun!

Psi U MC Vito 08-29-2012 11:39 AM

I got to see the Blind Boys of Alabama last year, and that was fairly awesome.

I saw her live a few years ago. It was the flashiest show I'd ever seen. LOL for kicks, I recently re-read my old diary and found an entry gushing over that night and how great the show was.

I work as a stagehand in Cincinnati, so I get paid to see most of the bands that come through town. Recently I worked the Heart Concert with Jason Bonham and the Led Zepplin Experience....great show.

Also this summer we've had Rush, Jonas Brothers, Toby Keith, Kenny Chesney, Tim McGraw, Matchbox 20 with Goo Goo Dolls (great show also), we just had today Blake Shelton.

Jimmy Buffett course every year. We had a great throw back to the 1990s wih LL Cool J, Slick Rick, Doug E Fresh, and De La Soul....

Also saw Dave Matthews Band, Bare Naked Ladies.

The best two shows I've worked in my opinion were the Cher concert and the Elton John/Billy Joel concert.

Green Day and Red Hot Chili Peppers were other really good shows to watch.

chiojes 07-30-2013 06:32 PM

So many concerts..

My dad especially is really into music so I have been going to concerts since I was a little girl...so the ones I've been to with my parents include:
Crosby stills and nash
Paul McCartney ( most recently last month, he was amazing!)
Rolling Stones
Fleetwood Mac
Beach Boys
New York Dolls
Pixies X2
Dolly Parton ( LOVE her)

Ones that I have been to with my dad or my friends....( my dad is still my # 1 concert buddy) In no particular order
Green day X3
No Doubt X 5 ( Favorite Band Ever)
Gwen Stefani X 3
Old 97's X 3
Avett Brothers X2
Tom Petty
Goo Goo Dolls
Sublime with Rome
Pink
Britney Spears
Live
Sugar Ray
Collective Soul
Garbage
Mighty Mighty Bosstones

Can you tell I am a child of the 90's/early 00's?? There are others that I can't remember as I went to the warped tour and other outdoor festivals back in high school and saw multiple bands. Concerts are one of my favorite activities!!

Titchou 07-30-2013 06:57 PM

Just to show how very old I am - the best live performance I've ever seen is Jimi Hendrix. Way too cool....and I remember it vividly to this day.

Munchkin03 07-30-2013 07:11 PM

I saw Beyoncé this weekend! She was amazing. LOVED IT.

Missouri Ivy 07-30-2013 07:22 PM

Jimmy Buffet in KC, St.Louis, Cincinnati, and the Gulf Shores BP oil spill concert,
Garth Brooks in 1992(?)
They Might Be Giants
Big Bad Voodoo Daddy
And last but not least, Warrant, Firehouse, and Trixter. A 1990s hairband triple feature.

KSUViolet06 07-30-2013 10:10 PM

Saw Nicki last year with Wayne & Travis Barker. It was awesome. Can agree that Nicki puts on a great live show.

I just realized how I NEVER updated this when I went to Home & Home with Jay-Z/Eminem at Comerica Park (yes, THAT show that was the last time Em toured and only one of like 4 dates.)

That is probably my biggest concert WIN of recent years. Like, the concert was so rare that the shirt I bought is now being sold on eBay as a collectors item for $300 (there are no more.)

Coming up this year:

Justin Timberlake on 12/12.

Miguel/Future/2Chanz/Drake also coming in August.

Oh lawd Jesus it's a fahr.

clemsongirl 07-31-2013 12:11 AM

Concerts I've been to:

Kelly Clarkson
American Idol season with Chris Daughtry

Trans-Siberian Orchestra x2
Justin Timberlake with Good Charlotte opening
Bon Jovi with Kid Rock opening
Straight No Chaser x2
Jennifer Lopez and Enrique Iglesias
The Package Tour-Boyz II Men, 98 Degrees and New Kids on the Block

My mom liked taking me to concerts as a kid so she wouldn't look like "a creepy mom there all by herself"...I was totally okay with this! The last two were this summer.

GammaGirl1908 07-31-2013 03:01 AM

Hmmm, let's see:

I'll get the big stinker out of the way first: Milli Vanilli. Someone? Owes me $23.

Others, in no particular order:

*Dave Matthews Band (4 times. Macy Gray was the opener once)
*Aretha Franklin
*Rihanna (free tickets a couple of months ago)
*Better than Ezra
*Wale (at Georgetown's Midnight Madness a couple of years ago)
*Erykah Badu (was the entertainment at a fancy party)
*Frankie Beverly and Maze (Howard Hewett was the opener. This was one of the best shows I've ever seen.)
*Maroon 5 (twice)
*Rob Thomas (Beth Hart was the opener)
*Pointer Sisters (4 times. Once at a July 4th concert, and 3x because a cousin knows them)
*Stevie Wonder (was so awesome!!!)
*Jason Mraz
*Lilith Fair 199...7?: Sarah McLachlan, Natalie Merchant, Liz Phair, Indigo Girls
*New Edition, Bobby Brown (oh, middle school.)
*Ready for the World and Club Nouveau (oh, elementary school.)
*Wyclef Jean (was the entertainment at an inaugural ball)
*Bill Clinton's 1992 inaugural concert; I only remember LL Cool J and David Sanborn
*The first American Idol concert (Kelly Clarkson)

I'm sure there are others, but that's what comes to mind.

NinjaPoodle 07-31-2013 12:05 PM

Where were you seated? We were in the wristbanded "mosh pit" area where we almost lost our lives.

Bumping because reading threads like this is more fun than seeing an endless array of mindless spam...and because I saw Tesla, Styx, and Def Leppard in concert last night (Awesome!) and am excited about seeing Motley Crue & Alice Cooper next month!

I went to Def Leppard/Styx/Tesla earlier this summer! Lots of fun. This summer I also saw Barenaked Ladies/Violent Femmes/Colin Hay (what can I say, I’m a sucker for those multi-act 80’s/90’s tours), Counting Crows (twice) and Phish (a bunch of times).

In addition to this summer, I’ve seen, in no particular order, and a lot of these more than once:

Fleetwood Mac, Indigo Girls, Goo Goo Dolls, Matchbox 20, Alanis Morrisette, Elton John & Billy Joel together, U2, Dave Matthews Band, Bon Jovi, Gavin DeGraw, Maroon 5, Bob Dylan, Hootie & the Blowfish, Crosby Stills & Nash, John Mayer, Tom Petty, ZZ Top, James Taylor, Melissa Etheridge, Dixie Chicks, Augustana, Michael Franti & Spearhead, Blues Traveler, INXS, Bad Company, Damn Yankees, .moe, Heart. And probably a bunch more I’m forgetting. I go to a lot of concerts!

amanda6035 09-04-2015 01:38 PM

Let's go WAY BACK

My first concert ever, as a kid, was Randy Travis/Alan Jackson when Alan was brand new on the scene.

Brooks and Dunn
Toby Keith
Big and Rich
Gretchen Wilson
Dierks Bentley
Marty Stewart
Motley Crue
3 Doors Down
Tom Petty
Audioslave
Cowboy Mouth
Straight No Chaser
DC Talk
Audio Adrenaline
Newsboys
Third Day
Skillet
Building 429
Tenth Ave North
Jars of Clay
Drew Holcomb

Lots others during music festivals, but these are the big names. Third Day, Newsboys and Skillet are by far my favorites. I volunteer with merchandise booths frequently for Third Day and Newsboys and will be doing my first volunteer concert for TobyMac in November. (http://www.loopevents.org/) for those of you into christian music and want to see a show for "free" by volunteering.

AOIIalum 09-04-2015 04:25 PM

Cheap Trick for probably the 20+ time on Sunday night. I. Cannot. WAIT.

ThetaPrincess24 09-04-2015 05:03 PM

Awesome!

NinjaPoodle 10-01-2015 08:36 PM

I'd like to add Grace Jones to my list. :)

Dixie_Amazon 10-02-2015 08:42 AM

Styx
Boston
Beach Boys
George Winston
Elton John (Still has it!)
Paul McCartney (last October and sounded great!)

AnchorAlumna 10-03-2015 02:30 AM

No particular order...and I'll probably come back and add to it:

First concert, a Dick Clark Caravan of Stars around 1968, at our high school:
Gary Lewis and the Playboys
Sam the Sham and the Pharoahs
The Yardbirds (post Clapton and, we think, the concert immediately after Jimmy Page left - or maybe he played, nobody knows for sure
Bobby Hebb
Brian Hyland and the Jokers
Jimmy Clanton and the Angels

Classics IV
Swingin' Medallions

Most of these in Tuscaloosa while a student:
Bill Cosby
Santana (awful)
Beach Boys with Golden Earring
The Who
Nitty Gritty Dirt Band
Wet Willie
Allman Brothers
Yes
The Eagles
Three Dog Night
Cheech & Chong
Grand Funk Railroad
Jethro Tull
Led Zeppelin
Bob Hope
Emerson, Lake & Palmer
Elton John

Atlanta in the mid 1970s:
Steve Martin
Paul Simon
David Bowie
John Denver

Since:
Jimmy Buffett (4x: Huntsville AL, Nashville, Atlanta, Birmingham)
Billy Joel
Huey Lewis and the News
Fly By Radio (only because somebody else listed them, they're a cover band)
Tom Petty & the Heartbreakers
Martina McBride (local festival, free!)
Blue Oyster Cult

I do regret not going to Elvis Presley (I was too cool) and Stevie Wonder with the Rolling Stones (just could not afford the $5 ticket, I had no money).
