God i feel so sorry for Patrick O'Sullivan. Many scouts pictured him as a top ten pick, but nobody would take a chance on him because of his emotional fragility, caused by years of phyiscal and verbal abuse from his hockey-crazy dad. So the kid gets taken 52nd overall, and everytime he's interviewed the damn media always talks about his father. For %*&# sakes, leave the poor guy alone.

LeslieAGD 06-23-2003 02:48 PM

CC, which team picked him up?

56, sorry - the wild.

Oh man i'm a genius...
after july first, trade fedorov for jagr - offer both of them half of what they're making now. If neither of them likes it from their new respective GM, then they sit, which is what the old GM would have done anyway. Teams are so desperate to dump payroll, they're giving players away for nothing. With this strategy, the GMs get some sort of calateral back.

LeslieAGD 06-24-2003 06:02 PM

Thanks, I was too lazy to look.

The Jagr for Fedorov suggestion works for me...I want that crybaby gone!

I called it...

In a brilliant way to take leverage from restricted free agents, the caps have traded Jagr to the Rangers for Nedved, Barnaby and Lundmark.

HAHAhaaaaa...actually, it's quite good! My in-laws brother in Minnesota is a good friend of Shjon Podein's parents, and were invited to his home (ironically in Red Wing (EWWW), MN) for his day with the cup, and the Coor's flowed and flowed....

Prediction: Either Jiggy from Anaheim as a free agent or Hasek will come out of retirement to netmind in Colorado. News yesterday was that Hasek was considering it, and you can bet that neither Dom nor CuJo will settle for sitting 2nd on Detroit's bench, and CuJo is still on contract, where Dom can be traded - Avs are going to NEED the help in goal, and a good couple of offensive player acquisitions to be competitive again next year.

LeslieAGD 06-25-2003 05:03 PM

I severly doubt that would send the goalie who helped them win the cup last year to Colorado enemy territory. On the news last night, the sports reporter stated that Cujo would be willing to waive the no-trade clause to go to NYR.

LXAAlum 06-25-2003 05:13 PM

I heard the NYR rumor as well, but Richter is still there under contract I think. It would be the same situation in NY with Richter and Dom fighting it out for the starting position - the loser of that battle will try to walk elsewhere if possible.

Besides, money talks. Lot's of players have wound up on rival teams due to $. I wouldn't be surprised to see Fedorov on the Av's roster, though I doubt they're very very interested in adding offensive depth (unless Forsberg decides to play in Sweden next year)....we need goalie depth. Aebischer is OK, but we need better than OK to go deep in the playoffs.

LeslieAGD 06-25-2003 09:59 PM

Richter isn't doing much for NYR anymore...doesn't he have bad knees or something? Does he have a no trade clause?

ZTABullwinkle 06-26-2003 12:47 AM

Say it isn't so...the "flopping fish out of water" is coming out of retirement??? Someone shoot me now!!!!

ARGH!!! At least the Caps made the smart decision and got rid of Jagr....

<Let the flaming begin!>:p

Trade Rumors and Goalie Frenzy

LeslieAGD 06-28-2003 07:39 PM

Hey hockey fans...can anyone suggest a really good NHL site?
I used to check out Faceoff.com all the time, but they've changed it and now it sucks! NHL.com and THN.com are helpful, but not as good as Faceoff was. Does anyone know of a site that is similar to Faceoff?

bcdphie 06-29-2003 01:46 PM

LeslieAGD you may want to try the CBC/Hockey Night in Canada site. I usually find it pretty informative.

CBC Hockey

Thanks bcdphie :)

Hasek's back and McCarty and Wooley are sticking around with multiple year contracts! http://www.handykult.de/plaudersmili...ty/yelclap.gif

Now we just have to unload CryBaby (aka Fedorov) and trade CuJo (perferably to Philly for LeClair).

LXAAlum 07-03-2003 02:51 PM

WOW!!! Another Av's shocker - Kariya and Selanne, together again, on a one year contract to the Avalanche.

We still need a good goalie, though.

" In adding Paul Kariya and Teemu Selanne to Peter Forsberg, Milan Hejduk and Joe Sakic, the Colorado Avalanche have assembled one of the most potent offensive quintets in recent memory. "

I hope this isn't the Av's version of what the Bronco's in Denver have done recently - make the good parts even better (which isn't a bad thing, really...) but, neglecting the areas that need improvement (goalie, a couple of depth defensemen)....

Offensively, it should be a GREAT season for the Avs....

Kariya, who played with the Mighty Ducks last season, agreed to a $1.2 million contract
Why would Kariya sign for only $1.2 Mil? Sounds stupid to me!

On a positive note, Derian Hatcher is said to be signing a deal with the Wings today...

heh heh. Sergei goes to a team that had their magical run last year. History won't repeat itself there again this year. Sergei acts as if Detroit was the worst place he ever played..... so I guess winning the stanley cup doesn't matter to him.

He just wants to be the center of attention, the star of the team. Well, in Detroit, we have such a variety of star players that Sergei was never going to be number 1. He whinned and cried about his ice time and about how he didn't didn't get enough respect...but if he had just shut his mouth and acted like a team player, he would have had $50 mil, another Stanley, and maybe the fans here wouldn't be so quick to celebrate his leaving.
