Nothing yet but I'm checking with some people....

Game Day Color Chart [Click Here]

*Added to Past #1 as well.

33girl 08-07-2014 11:25 AM

Do you need to wear the designated color head to toe? My only experience with this is "white outs" at Penguin games.

The Greek Life office won't have an Angelia this year as of right now. They are focusing more on education about recruitment/greek life via their website and webinars.

I think you can wear it head to toe. But sometimes I will just wear a cute red top with nice jeans. Some people take this chart very seriously and they buy their outfits all summer long and then plan each weekend which one to wear.

Also dresses purchased for Recruitment can do double duty with Grove attire once Recruitment is over if the dresses are the school colors.

OldOleMiss 08-07-2014 05:38 PM

^^^YES!^^^ I had the most adorable Red and Blue dress (with big white collar and red ribbon- of course :-) ) that I just loved-- wore it to skit then to about 4 more home games before it eventually (and mercifully) went out of style!

DeltaBetaBaby 08-07-2014 06:17 PM

I don't think there are any colors for NPC groups that, as a single solid color, shout, "XYZ" so loudly that it would raise an eyebrow, are there? I mean, I can't think of an NPC that has a color that would be totally weird for a fall dress...probably the closest I can think of would be someone showing up in a mode dress.

Sciencewoman 08-07-2014 11:27 PM

^^^ since we don't have a chapter at Ole Miss, brown or mode should be OK!

MaryPoppins 08-08-2014 06:04 AM

There is actually a Chapter at Ole Miss that wears a long brown dress for Pref. It's like a dusty mocha color, in fact I think you would say it is mode. I saw them walking from their dorm to a Chapter over on Sorority Row.

Thank y'all for all of you helpful advise you post onto this forum. You are lifesavers for those of us who have daughters going through rush!

My daughter will be rushing at Ole Miss, and has a class that ends at 5:15, yet rush starts at 4:30. Will this hurt her chances?

What part of rush exactly is it?

Griffins&Quills 08-16-2014 04:50 PM

She should inform her recruitment counselor asap but if possible, skip class

I think that at Ole Miss, if you skip class, you're dropped from recruitment. I'm not 100% sure of this but I think I've read it on here before.

Griffins&Quills 08-16-2014 04:59 PM

Well, in that case, definitely don't do that then!

Usually groups will have more slots for parties than the actual number of parties the PNMs attend to help with overcrowding. If they are saying you can't skip class to attend an event, I'm sure they have backup plans in case of this situation and should be able to work around it.

DubaiSis 08-16-2014 07:02 PM

At a school like Ole Miss, if parties are happening during normally scheduled class times, there will be a Plan B. Just make sure she communicates her problem as soon as possible. This isn't something to bring up the day before parties begin.

Yes, missing class would cause a PNM to be dropped from Recruitment. She should inform her Rho Chi ASAP, as in as soon as she knows find out the Rho Chis contact information.

Loyally Kappa 08-16-2014 09:46 PM

I never teach freshmen, only seniors and graduate students ... and occasionally a group of spring semester juniors, so I can't answer the questions about skipping class. But I am always mindful of when recruiting happens because my students have some really long work days (and nights).

They always appreciate that I massage the schedule so that no major assignments are due during recruitment.

newtogreek2 08-16-2014 09:50 PM

They did send out a letter saying that you would be dropped from recruitment. I will make sure she informs her Rio Chi when she gets that info. Thank you for your help!

trtlgrl 08-17-2014 11:26 AM

Found this great sight for game day clothing among others. They have some really cute stuff and a lot of Royal and Red as well.

Would anyone REALLY wear those leggings?
Ew.

My husband came home the other day and described these to me. I didn't believe him! A woman was wearing these in court!

Griffins&Quills 08-17-2014 12:21 PM

I really hope no one would seriously wear those.... every single pair of leggings on that site is hideous. Ranging from plaid to tribal to ugly Christmas sweater.

33girl 08-17-2014 12:55 PM

OK, I would TOTALLY wear all those leggings....

IF I had my college body
With a giant black t-shirt or sweater fully covering my butt
And with flats or black Beatle boots - definitely not heels!!! Skanky!!
In other words, 80s style.

The thing I can't get with is the headbands like "Pink Pewter" girl is wearing. Oh and the flower wreath/tiara things. I thought this was just something the magazines were trying to make happen, but I saw an actual human wearing one last night, so I guess people are biting. Eeek.

Griffins&Quills 08-17-2014 01:26 PM

Eh, different strokes I guess. I don't mind the 80s style, I would probably even wear neon pink leggings with the black booties and black shirt or something of the like, but I just really hate the crazy patterned leggings.

pinapple 08-17-2014 01:58 PM

Ok well the reason that site carries those leggings is because they are quickly becoming the "sorority uniform" for fall and winter on many, many campuses, especially in Texas. Summer and Spring: Nike shorts and T-shrits with letters. Fall and Winter: funky leggings and T-shirts with letters. Sigh. Such is life.

Tiaras? Tiaras are coming into style? Does this mean that I can wear one on a night other than New Year's Eve?

Titchou 08-17-2014 06:38 PM

I think she's talking the flower child type head band thingy...but, for a princess, a tiara is never out of style...

Griffins&Quills 08-17-2014 06:53 PM

Flower crowns are all over for bid day these days

AnchorAlumna 08-17-2014 07:06 PM

Dahlings, tiaras nevah go out of style!

Titchou 08-17-2014 07:49 PM

Absolutely! I have my collection on the center top shelf of my study bookcase!

Right next to your emergency pearls for when you have to clutch something in a hurry! :D

But speaking as a 20-year-old who's fairly fashion-conscious, I think the heels and leggings looks dumb together. I don't see anyone around Clemson wearing patterned leggings because A) they only look good on girls who have little tiny chicken legs or model legs and B) it is too damn hot right now for leggings. During the winter girls really only wear black leggings or black exercise leggings with colored accents! Some of those other clothes on that site were cute, though.

Oh Lord! I didn't post it because of the leggings. Lol! I don't like patterned leggings and pineapple is correct leggings are everywhere. Late fall and winter driving down University Ave. in Tuscaloosa and about half of the girls you see going to class are wearing them. I mostly meant the really cute tops and dress. I did like the little lace shorts as well.

HottyToddy1 08-22-2014 02:56 PM

Moved my DD in yesterday. Glad that's over. It had to be the hottest day of the year. Every girl on her floor is so cute. That coupled with a great roommate helps me know that this is going to be a great experience for all of us. 23 days until recruitment. I've got my mad dog 20/20 ready.

33girl 08-22-2014 04:17 PM

The mad dog reference has me rolling.

MU2Driver 08-24-2014 01:04 PM

My Gamma Chi DD met with her PNM group for the first time today. They changed it up a bit from last year. I'm not sure about the details, but it seems that 1) instead of being grouped by dorm floor, it seems to be a more random allocation, and 2) instead of a group of 40-50 girls being assigned to a group of 2-3 GCs, each GC has about 15 girls for whom she is directly responsible.

Sounds like a move to give more support to the PNMs which is always a good thing.

Maybe her Gamma Chi has better things to do than meet with PNM's who skip the meetings?
