LOL- I'm definitely not arguing w/ MysticCat. He's very nice. I certainly hope he didn't think I was. We're just sharing opinions.

"The Wiz" was the first show I ever saw on Broadway. Stephanie Mills gave me chills at the end when she sang "Home" -- still does when I listen to the CD. (And the arrangement that KC did on Glee is, except for the choral back-up, almost exactly the same arrangement as Stephanie Mills' from the show.) I thought the movie absolutely butchered the show. So I guess we've both got issues with butchering. :D

But it's all good. It'd be a boring world if we all liked the same things.

AGREED!

Dude. I'm so behind on my Hulu I thought we were done *shame*

ree-Xi 05-31-2010 02:21 PM

I forgot to answer someone's upthread question about Rachel's dads - in Epi 1 she has a photo of the two of them. One is black, one is white, and she mused that she had no idea which one's swimmers smashed into her mama's egg.

Is anyone else going to be as depressed as me when the show goes off the air for the summer?

Oh wait I managed to survive 4 months without the show being on, I can survive June, July, August and most of September :D

oh glee.

LeslieAGD 06-02-2010 01:13 PM

Last night's episode was so so for me, but I did enjoy Puck and Finn doing Loser and Good Vibrations. I would have liked it more had Puck been shirtless and dropped his pants like Marky Mark, though. The broke-down cheerleaders were amusing.

I totally lost it when they showed Britney and she was wearing her uniform backwards.

Agreed 100 percent. :D

I really, REALLY felt bad for Rachel when Vocal Adrenaline attacked her. Especially when Jesse got her at the end of the scene.

Gusteau 06-02-2010 01:51 PM

I've been lurking in this thread for a while, but it's finally time to come clean...

Hi, my name is Gusteau, and I'm a gleek. :o

While I didn't love the music in last nights episode, I still enjoyed it. I like that they're giving other cast members a chance to shine. However, I was so disappointed when Rachel got egged and didn't burst out into some showstopper. It was the perfect set up for her to belt out something, but no.

I'm wondering if they will every do "Mamma Who Bore Me." Its one of her songs from Spring Awakening, and I think it really lends itself to the mother-daughter plotline. I guess we'll see...

txpacer 06-02-2010 02:23 PM

^^^ I was JUST thinking about cool it would be for Lea Michele do that song (again) for Glee! How weird would that be? Especially w/ Groff on the series it could become too Spring Awakening-y, which is why I think they will really shy away from using any of those songs. :(

It's funny you say that. I completely expected Rachel to belt out something after the egging, and was happy that she didn't. I think she was too shocked (sad? embarrassed?) to sing, and I think her silence was more powerful than anything she could've sung.

Oh, and welcome to gleekhood, Gusteau.

bostongreek 06-02-2010 02:52 PM

i loved when the boys tried to avenge her, that was sweet.

i love quinn and mercedes as friends!

ree-Xi 06-02-2010 02:57 PM

Things that made me laugh:

- Will saying "Funky tow-ow-ownnnn"
- Brittany's backwards uniform
- Will seducing Sue with his singing and gyrations (though I actually felt bad for her in the end)
- In the linen store, Terry asked Puck and Finn (who demonstrate teenboy angst so comically) if the name of the store changed to "Losers and Things" and Finn checked his name tag. Those subtleties are priceless!!

This would have been far too much like "Sesame Street" for my taste. I was also glad that she didn't start singing.

LucyKKG 06-03-2010 04:31 AM

I have the biggest crush on Mr. Schu. Maybe it's the curly hair? Oh man...seriously...if a guy sang to me like that, I'd propose.

BabyPiNK_FL 06-03-2010 11:32 AM

I love how she disses him and then admits he's "the perfect trophy husband". He's cute, but looks a lil too bony for me.

Ditto. Pretty much in love. Mathew Morrison has some great youtube videos...

polarpi 06-03-2010 02:39 PM

I will admit to already having watched this week's episode twice (probably will go up over the next few days/weeks...:D)

Wasn't a big fan of any of the songs this week, except *maybe* the group sing at the end - I'm still on the fence on that one. Liked the storylines, felt bad for Rachel's egging, laughed at the messed-up cheerleaders, and cringed at the Shu-Sue "relationship".

Looking forward to seeing next week (but then will also go through withdrawals until the start of Season 2!)

precipice 06-03-2010 11:54 PM

Not to get all Randy Jackson, but for me this episode was just alright.
It rated slightly above the Madonna episode which sucked to the highest of sucktivity.

Was it just me or was Quinn's number with the Unwed Mothership Connection kind of creepy?

More Puck please. And when will Shaft and Other Asian get more speaking lines?

I didn't like it, so I skipped it. It was weird and I just didn't think the song was a good fit vocally for her.

BabyPiNK_FL 06-04-2010 09:15 AM

^^ Yes. Her voice is paper thin. She doesn't have "chops" and when she talks it sounds like her nose is clogged and she's always out of breath.

Agreed, although I think the show has done a good job of picking songs that have worked for her (Say a Little Prayer, Keep Me Hanging On, Papa Don't Preach)...but the one from this week was a bad choice.

sceniczip 06-04-2010 11:11 PM

I thought it was really funny when Jesse said he was depressed and his face shows no emotion. Not one of my favorite episodes though. The Shu/Sue thing was weird.

ColdInCanada11 06-04-2010 11:21 PM

Yeah, I did not get the whole Sue/Shue romance thing... AWKWARD

ASUADPi 06-06-2010 12:02 PM

I thought the Sue/Shue thing was funny as hell. At first I was like WTH is he doing, but then I figured out pretty quickly he was doing it to get back at Sue. It seemed though, that even though she still hates Shue, they have reached some level of "understanding". Does it mean she won't continue to do everything in her power to dismantle Glee, heck no, but I think they have an "understanding". If that makes sense.

Quite honestly, I thought the songs sucked. Won't be buying any of them on Itunes. They just weren't good.

Looking foward to the season finale.

BTW did anyone else think it was kind of funny that Puck was the first one to be like "let's kick some VA butt for what they did to Rachel". I was like whoa that's puck right? I'm a huge Puck/Rachel fan, so I'm like "woo hoo", but it was a little weird. LOL.

I keep telling my hubby that Diana Argon (Quinn) has a deviated septum. She always sounds like she has a cold.

precipice 06-06-2010 09:33 PM

I'm not sure if it's on purpose but Quinn always sounds like she's on the verge of tears combined with mucous build-up.

Will Mercedes be given something else to do besides being the sassy Black chick? When will we see some of her life outside of the high school?

I want more Puck and possibly Puck's rock-star dad. :o

Love Sue in her track suit and pearls. :D

Anyway, it was a great episode, but I really wish it hadn't been switched with Funk. (I thought the end was a perfect segway into the season finale, but now we have another episode).

Was wondering what you saw as some of the inconsistencies - was thinking about the last two episodes earlier today, and started wondering (still need to watch to confirm) - did they even touch on Jesse's absence in Theatricality? I'm remembering their explanation during Larangytis (sp?) that he was on spring break with friends from Vocal Adrenaline in San Diego, so that's what got me thinking.

I then remembered your comment about the switch in runs of these episodes, so I wonder if that plays a role into it. Just something that hit me earlier today (I've been doing a Glee-marathon the past two days to rewatch all the episodes before Tuesday's season finale :D)

WinniBug 06-06-2010 10:53 PM

I was wondering about the storyline, too.
It seemed like she did the video with the 3 male leads, he went on spring break, he came back helped her find her mom, now he's all pissed at her and gone. Did I get something out of order?

No.
I think it is just confusing because Funk was supposed to air after Dream On (when Jesse helps Rachel find her mom), but instead they aired Theatricality first. But then again, even if they had aired Funk first, Jesse's reasons for leaving Glee are that "no one took him seriously".
