There was a sorority that had forced their pledges to watch porn and pleasure themselves until they made a newspaper wet. Thankfully, they were kicked off campus in a hot second.

This I can agree with. Were I to find out that was going on here I'd call the police in a heartbeat.

I'm lucky to say I wasn't hazed at all. This stuff is awful sounding! I do know that a lot of fraternities and one sorority at my school do still haze, and most of the stories are just this bad.

The worst I hear of on my campus is making pledges clean the house or be DDs for actives, and that's just from the guys. Sororities here don't haze (or if they do, they are the queens of discretion). Which I'm glad of, not only because I dislike hazing but because it's another way in which our Greek system is laid back.

The worst I have ever heard is the fraternity pledge class had to raise a puppy through all of rush and keep the actives from getting to it. At the end of pledging, they had to kill the dog with the meaning of "b**ches come and go but bros last forever". This is a true story as there was a failed attempt and the dog was taken to a rescue shelter and is so messed up it goes crazy just at the sight of other males. Only women are allowed any contact with the dog.

Also I heard a story from just last year one of the fraternities had to drive 17 of their pledges all the state to have their staph infections taken care so the local hospital wouldn't put the connection together and get them in trouble

Some others are color sorting confetti across the floor in the dark with the opening of "Bad Romance" on repeat in the background

Forced to hold diet coke and a mentos in their mouth until they can't any longer and when they shoot it out it has to be on another pledge.

Forced drinking until everyone pukes

Blindfolded and driven to the middle of nowhere and having to find their way back to the house before sunrise

i did a lot of pushups, situps, and a bunch of other exercises. we had to clean the house everyday and run errands and such for the brothers. we weren't allowed in certain areas or to do certain things. we were basically on call 24 hours a day and even had the occasional dip in the swamp or river...never were we hazed in the company of anyone but brothers, and never were we ever hit or beaten. it may not have been right, but i don't think there was anyone who started that didn't know what they were getting into.

This is the single most horrifying hazing story I have ever heard in my life.

Pike chapter at Tulane pours boiling water on pledges, etc. No more Pike at Tulane--they didn't take care of their house, their antique fire truck or their brothers.

That was a terrible accident, result of negligence as hazing incidents often are

Heating up crab boil to the point that it causes third degree burns is NOT an "accident." Call it what it is and learn from mistakes. If a parent did this to a child and called it an accident, you'd still call it child abuse.

I heard a terrifying story just the other day and by chance saw this thread bumped. A friend told me about one of her hs friends who goes to another university in our area. She was pledging a sorority and dropped because the pledges were told they have to get to know their ls in and out by performing on each other.

MysticCat 08-04-2011 09:03 AM

^^^ Well, if a friend told that you it happened to a another friend at another school, then it must be true, especially since it explains why friend's friend dropped out.

***Falling out.***

Sure they did. This Greek Rumor has been going around before my mama pledged.

voLTAgeDEuce 08-04-2011 11:14 AM

LOL, well, I'm not going to say who this came from, but that person would not tell me if they didn't believe it themselves. I feel like although stories like this are probably not exactly true some variation probably is, otherwise why are people still talking about it? ;)

Some of these are truly horrifying. I would NEVER participate in hazing.

Are you talking about the "truly horrifying" hazing or anything that could possibly be considered hazing depending on the audience?

Individual members and chapters have gotten in trouble at the school, organization, and legal levels for doing seemingly harmless things. For instance, one legacy who doesn't get an invitation for membership may move on with his/her life whereas another legacy may accuse the chapter of trying to intimidate her/him and unfair treatment. Thus, members and chapters can get in trouble for hazing even if the intent wasn't malicious and wasn't to haze.
