I got to watch the end of the Hoston/Cards game, it was unbelievable!! One minute Hoston is one out from going to the world series, the next Pujols hits a three run homer to eventually win the game. It was unbelievable to hear the crowd go from deafening screams to silence and shock.

ASTROS ARE GOING TO THE WORLD SERIES!

Was it me, or was the St. Louis crowd chanting "Let's Go Astros" after the game?
Damn, what a great show of class by Cardinal fans. |
All you Anti-Astros (I don't like Texas teams) fans can suck my left nut. The Astros pulled it out, nutted up, and now they're gonna beat the "media darling" White Sox bastards to win the whole damn thing. There is no way that the Black Sox are going to be able to beat Clemens, Pettitte, and Oswalt. If the Sox win the series I won't post on GC for 6 months. I just don't see it happening. GO FUCKIN 'STROS!!!

Sorry. I shouldn't have posted when I got home from the bar last night. What I meant by "media darlings" is that I imagine all we're going to hear in the lead up to the Series is how the ChiSox are like the BoSox, and have this long jinx to kill, haven't won a Series since 1917, blah blah blah.

I dont know...the white sox for the most part have been exceptional throughout the season, look what they did to both the Red Sox and Angels in the post season. That on top of several days more rest than the Astros have will definitely work in their advantage.

This isn't football, or even basketball - rest is not automatically a good thing. The Sox starters have worked a LOT recently, and so has the Stros pen, and 2 extra days of rest doesn't magically take 230 innings off someone's arm. Here are the real issues to watch: -The Astros hardly ever walk - much of their offense is based around putting the ball in play (similar to the Angels, but with slightly more diversity). The White Sox don't walk ANYONE - the Astros will have to hit for slightly more power than in the Braves series to win. -The Sox perform very poorly against power pitching, which the Astros have in spades. They also walk about... NEVER, and so are quite vulnerable to the bullpen guys the 'Stros roll out. They are also ridiculously right-handed at the plate, which the Astros will abuse. -The DH allows the Astros to put their best defensive team on the field at all times, while still keeping their bats there. The lack of DH in the NL park will remove Everett, one of only 2 lefties and one of the only moderate power threats in the lineup. Konerko will have to stroke it. ... This might be the worst-hitting World Series in modern history - the matchup edge goes to the Astros, I would think, but the DH issues traditionally favor AL teams when they have the home-field advantage. Houston in 6. |
I pick the Sox to win.....
....so that likely means Houston will win it all :p |
