OK, I had to search for this thread because I LOVE this show just about as much as I love Run's House and I want to talk about it. Anybody else watch this show weekly? I try to catch t when it airs, but most times, I watch it on the 'net.
This show is super HILARIOUS!! Some of the quick wit has me laughing for HOURS. ALL of the actors contribute a lot to the show. I'm even happy to see Todd Bridges with semi-regular employment again. THE funniest line this week on the episode Everybody Hates Math was: "My mother was hollering at her boy long before it was cool to 'Holla at cha boy!'" LMAO!!! |

I like that he employs actors that have not worked in a while, i.e. Todd Bridges, Jimmie Walker, Jackee, and What's Happening actor. |

Can Chris please get ahead, for just ONE episode? LOL!
Can't wait until next season! |

The great thing about the show is that it's consistent. Just when you think Chris might actually come out victorious, it all fails.
Tichina Arnold is SO good on this show! I love her character! I'm don't really feel Tonya's character all the time.... Typical little sister.... |
The season finale was so funny! For once, I thought Chris was gonna get ahead but alas, he didn't!
And I love Tichina in this role too. |
Returns October 1.

My 11 cents on the show
I rented the first season of the show and saw about 2/3 of the eps within a 24 hour period. Not bad, huh?
Well, I'll say that while the show in and of itself isn't a bad show by a long shot, I did find it a bit meloncholy in that Chris always got the short end of the stick by the end of the ep, perhaps hence the title. FWIW, EHC reminds me of the numerous Charlie Brown comic strips I read as a kid, in that even when Charlie Brown wins, he loses. It's almost as if Chris and Charlie Brown have that same magnetic attraction to the agony of defeat (that or they were separated at birth). :D I think the late Charles Schulz said it best: "Happiness doesn't create humor. Sadness makes humor". Perhaps this is what gives EHC its unique flavor as far as comedy is concerned. One thing I do like about the show was that it portrayed a poor kid growing up in the 80s with his family struggling to make it. OTOH, that may also be the very thing I don't like about the show: 'Cause it reminds me too much of my life growing up poor in the 80s. :D And as an adult, the last thing you wanna see on TV is another you, particularly when you are in an unrefined state of being (read: immature and socially and emotionally un- or underdeveloped). But nonetheless EHC is overall a good entertaining show. I hope its run is a long run (a few more seasons). |
