My bad. I completely misread AKA's post. :o
Probably because DST never had to do a moratorium. We were the first to adopt a no-pledge process, even before the NPHC as a body dealt with it. The AKAs were right behind us in their thinking, but it took the frats a little while to come on board. - lol

In the late 80s, some NPHC orgs did have a moratorium on pledging, so that the NPHC as a whole could address the issues of hazing. Since then all LEGAL processes have been changed to non-"pledging" ones. That it all I can say about that.
Ahh. All ya needed to say. :) Just wanted to make sure I was on the right track with my thought process.

It sucks that it had to go to that extreme, but it sounds like everyone found the best practical answer to the problem and came up with a good result. Kudos.

That's debatable.

I am not in an organization in NPHC. However, I know what they mean when they say that more than likely you would not be invited to another organization in their council with out criticism or being looked down upon. I think whether it's a formal procedure or not; the politics of Greek Life at times, depending on the council and org. can lead to this type of aspect. You have to keep in mind that no Greek Organization wants deadweight added to their chapter. And we are all looking for strong solid members. The key is quality and not quantity; so being that you were even given the chance to pursue farther membership for that prior org. says a lot and you should feel privaledged in that matter. However, I understand your feelings of not being able to see members of that org. you cannot refer to as your sisters. If you plan on finding another org. DO YOUR RESEARCH! Make sure it's something you believe in, you would feel proud to be a part of, and that you get to nkow it's members and what they are like in every aspect of the org. before trying to pursue its membership.

That way you won't have these feelings of resentment in the latter.

^^^ Still a "Black Greek" Per say

In the NPHC, you pledge AT a chapter, but you pledge TO the national organization.

If "gillman" really wanted it, "she" would have had some TENACITY about "herself" and got it.

Oh yeah, I also want to take this time to say: black, black, black, black, black, black, black, black... :)

nikki1920 03-25-2005 01:10 PM

and in those 4 days, whos to say that the behavior exhibited was only to serve as a test to weed out those "weak" members? hmmmm.....

They got you gillman....you gotta look beyond the people in your chapter and focus on the organization as a whole. And if people in other orgs know you were participating in another org's process, then it will be almost impossible for you to join another org.
