Brother John,

I am in full agreement with you on this point. It would be a mistake to disclose the location. No way and not by me!

My dream is to have an historical marker placed in Swansee to recognise Warren A. Cole as our Founder. This is his birthplace and the proper place for his memory to be memorialized.

Does anybody know who to contact in Mass. to "get the ball rolling?" The Historical Society? I know the money can be raised and I am willing to do the "grunt work" to "getter done!"

How about our Mass. Brothers getting me the information I need to apply for an Historic Marker?

Mike Raymond, ZU-Z

Do you mean a marker in the town or near the location, or do you mean a marker within the cemeter?

Marker Location

Greetings,

I would propose putting the sign in the town. If possible near the actual site, to be determined, of Cole's birth. His grave site headstone does an adequate job of identifying him as our Founder.

If his actual birthplace cannot be found, there is a great spot near the Public Library that would serve the purpose.

By locating the Historical Marker in the town we avoid the real danger that his burial site would be damaged by too many visitors.

Historical Markers

Better still, if there is a signpost at the town limits, to have a secondary sign under the town name "Birthplace of Warren A Cole, founder of Lambda Chi Alpha Fraternity." Perhaps the Mass Historical Society would be able to assist us with a state-approved historical marker.

I haven't explored the possibilities with the Interior Department on this one...may be a can of worms they don't want to open.

Do we have a marker at the Truman house in Independence, MO? Perhaps to schedule a wreath-laying at his grave on the anniversary of his initiation would be a nice touch?

That would be a nice touch at the Library.

There is nothing at His Wife Bess's House in Independence or the Home In Lamar, Mo.

If He was born in the area which I would guess, then if the Historical Society would go for it, that also would be nice.

Just think about how many Founders of National Ogranizional of Greek Nature there really is or was who have not lasted!:)

Truman

Y'know, I lived in St Louis for over 7 years, traveled all over the state, and never went to the Truman house or library, even though I have double ties to him (Lambda Chi and Freemasonry--triple if you count we both were masters of lodges in Missouri).

Foolish me, eh?
