But, but.. Amber is an Alpha Gam!

it seemed a bit uncomfortable for them to be in sri lanka this time. i know it was taped earlier last year...but it feels a bit odd.

I remember riding one of those tuk-tuk. It was fun!

polarpi 01-26-2005 02:02 AM

Lori and Bolo were growing on me - sorry that they left tonight.

I couldn't believe Adam tonight - "I don't want to be here, let's just go back to the airport and fly home" and then getting all pissed off that their driver stopped for gas - better he stopped than you running out of gas, moron!

Glad Kris & Jon were first, but it looks like Jon's temper may show up next week! :o

GeoffZ 01-26-2005 02:21 AM

Aww Lori & Bolo are gone. That sucks. You gotta read all the info on this show. Lori charging down the hill, screaming at him was funny though. Kris was sweet to try to comfort him.

The contestants are pretty boring now -- I don't absolutely love or absolutely hate anyone. Kris and Jon are nice but woo hoo, nice isn't captivating. I kind of like Adam and Rebecca just because they're so jacked, but at this point, I really don't care who wins. If I had to pick someone to hate it would be babybabybabywahwahimscaredhayden, but I like Aaron so eh.

Are these episodes repeated anywhere this week?

Not that I am aware of. But you can read re-caps and see some video at CBS.com.

I'm so sad that Wrestlemania are gone now! I don't care who wins, as long as it isn't KKKendra and her boyfriend...whatever the heck his name is.

Yeah, but next to the Amazing Race, Survivor blows monkeys. I really hope they don't make this a habit. First the "Fear Factor" kind of stunts, and now this.

GPhiBLtColonel 01-27-2005 12:15 AM

I hate that all the teams I like -- save one -- are gone -- I loved Gus and Hera and the grandparents and Lori and Bolo -- the only team I care about now is Kris and Jon --

I HATE all the other teams!

Is anyone else as sick as I am of MODELS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!?????????

What the $%^&$ are producers thinking with all the good looker contestants -- do they honestly think they are more interesting to viewers? It seems like more viewers root for the "real" people most of who are now gone....so why concewntrate so much on team looks? I don't get it....

I love this show but this season is the first time I am actually pissed off about many of the contestants...several other girlfriends of mine in other GLOs here agree....

sigh....

By the way, I missed the very beginning of the show last night -- was there anything said about the tsunami and Sri Lanka? It was very sad to see where the teams were competing knowing there had since been so much death and destruction there since -- nearly all the places they were are gone....

I pondered aloud to Mr GpHiB "what would have happened if the tsunami had hit when the show was being taped?"

I guess the teams feel lucky....

I pondered aloud to Mr GpHiB that it would have been extremely bad if the tsunami had hit when the show was being taped....

They made metnion of the fact that they filmed this part in Sri Lanka a few weeks prior to the tsunami, and they were proud (or something to that effect) of their friends and colleagues who are there helping to bring aid and rebuild.

I said pretty much the same thing to my mom last night...

A lot of the stunts that they have come up with were "in place" either right at the time of fear factor or before (most likely), with that being said, it has gotten a bit more intense.

Meh...I disagree. I've watched it since TAR started (Frank & Margaritta 4-EVA!), and the whole eating disgusting foods until you puke/drinking blood thing wasn't there in the beginning. It was what made TAR the "thinking person's" reality show - and it's why I watched it. If I wanted to watch Fear Factor/Survivor, I'd watch those shows, not TAR.

I'm just surly because all my favorite shows are jumping the shark this season.

I've said this before, but I still think there is a difference between the gross tasks on TAR and on Fear Factor.

On Fear Factor, the gross stunts occur every episode and exist solely to see if the contestants can stomach something gross.

On TAR, they do not occur every episode (I can think of two this season -- the spicy soup and the blood drinking, which was on a Fast Forward that allowed the team to avoid the soup) and they are tied in some way to the local culture. That soup is eaten in Hungary, although not in such large amounts. But you've got to make a challenge out of it.

It seems like the "gross things" in TAR have been things that Americans would find gross but that locals would either consider normal (although maybe in larger portions than would be normal); challenges to show one's strength, courage or power (like the pig's blood); or maybe even delicacies (thinking back to the octopus in, was it Korea?).

I've always viewed the "gross" tasks in TAR as being about getting Americans -- both those participating in the race and those watching -- to recognize that ours is not the only culture in the world and that what we consider abnormal or even gross may be considered very normal elsewhere. In fact, I think that is the gist of a lot on the TAR, and it's one of the reasons I like it. (Are you paying attention, Kendra?)
