So far I've heard of two GC people lampooned on LJ, one of whom from GC I am close with. To this day I still don't know who's responsible, but everybody's so damn quick to blame the H&A. Riiiiight. I suppose we're responsible for the fake Antonin Scalia one too?

What Rudey was talking about was the community, made of up of several GCers -- a separate forum of sorts. The community's closed, however, so in order to view the posts in that forum, you'd have to be a part of the community.

The H&A roster is classified. People like to call it a "clique" and bitch about it, so let em.

There are 2304283498234986234762 communities on Live Journal you can belong to. Communities are formed based on similar interests, for example, AGD has our own, as does most sororities, fans of Harry Potter, fans of tiny titties, you get the drift. Membership can be public or private.

As I said above, and have said on many other threads -- I don't feel like I have anything to apologize for when it comes to my conduct on GC, and I don't feel like it's my business to apologize for my friends' behavior. Apparently many others agree with me on the first count because I have received dozens of PMs telling me that I have represented Tri Delta wonderfully and not a single one telling me the opposite.

While "it's just the internet" is not an excuse for hurting people's feelings, I have to say that I just don't understand -- and maybe never will -- WHY someone would hold back from posting their opinion just because they know people are going to disagree. If what the H&A does is considered "bullying," I've been bullied multiple times on GC and never complained. (Politics forum much?) I want to ask you, and anyone who disagrees with you, what is it that you fear will happen if you post something that disagrees with what I/we say? That you'll get "flamed"? Why is that so scary? IMO, it's natural that people are going to disagree on this board, and that is not something that should frighten anyone into not posting. If it does, there's a problem -- not with the environment of GC, but with why that person feels that way. Like I said above, people are blaming the H&A for why they're leaving GC, and that's ridiculous. They might not like the environment that's partially created by the H&A on GC, but they are the ones that are either choosing to stick around or leave. Everybody who posts on GC has a hand in creating the environment that the board consists of -- and believe it or not, not everybody loved the environment of the board BEFORE the H&A came along either. There are far more people who have left for more banal reasons than "GeekyPenguin made me cry!" than have ever left because of the H&A. We all make the decision to stay on GC or to leave it on a daily basis -- anybody who's posted or lurked here does.

GC is going to change -- it can't stay the same forever. You notice how every single person who comes to the board eventually says, "It's not the same as when I joined"? Whether they joined in 2000 or 2004, they view the time they joined as the Golden Age of GC. And like I've said, I was not thrilled with the board last summer. So what did I do? Instead of complaining, I made friends with GeekyPenguin and damasa, I started bonding with the people on the board that I still liked, and ultimately . . . the H&A was born. Clearly we have become a force that has, as y'all have put it, "changed the atmosphere of the board." You know what? We like it better this way. Most of us prefer it to the way the board was before! And so, if you guys are so pissed off at the way the board has changed, I challenge you to change it back. If it's possible for people to "run other people off the board," why don't you try to run US off the board? It's clear you'd like it better that way, so why not do it? Or, make like the H&A and IGNORE the posts you don't like and post more of the stuff you do. Wouldn't that, in your opinion, be a change for the better? And since the non-H&A outnumber the H&A on this board a million to one, wouldn't it be pretty damn easy to do so?

Because I'm going to be one hundred percent honest here: I don't care that we "ran Kitso off GC" because you know what? I like it better now that he's gone (ditto for most of the others we've "run off GC"). I don't care that the H&A are the only ones responding to certain threads because, hey, we're having fun -- and chances are I don't really care if you are or not. I don't care if you are put off by the fact that five of my friends responded negatively to your post and you felt "bullied," because that's your deal, not mine. Yeah, this might be selfish -- and no, I don't care about that, either. Sorry.

PS: To everyone who thinks this thread should die, every time you respond it just bumps it back up to the top and probably incites at least one new response. That whole "ignoring" thing works wonders!

the H&A is a group of GCers who feel like they have special permission to be mean to people who aren't "in."

They were founded for other reasons -- I'm sure because they had things in common with each other -- but it's grown into a small cluster of folks who gang up and attack.

Don't ask who's in; they won't tell you. You're not cool enough to know.

Don't ask how they choose who's the next victim; you're not cool enough to be privy to the selection process.

Don't suggest the H&A is behind ANYTHING -- after all, everyone's innocent, this is just the internet!

And DEFINATELY don't suggest any specific GCer is responsible for anything the "H&A" has done. That'll earn you post upon post of "NO ONE CAN PROVE IT WAS ME!"

Let me get this straight.

If every time you post something that me or my five friends disagree with.....

and if every time that happens, we all gang up and attack....

You are the one who chooses how to deal with it, kiddo. Personally, when somebody disagrees with me or "gangs up on me" on GC, I say, "C'est la vie" and get on with my life. I have enough confidence in my opinions and in the fact that I have great things going for me that I don't need to bring what happens on GC into my real life.

Now, if you want, you can also choose to be supremely offended, cry about it, quit GC -- I just don't think those reactions are justified.

As the cliche goes, life is 1 percent what happens to you and 99 percent what you make of it. People like Hootie and Kitso decided that being around GC was not worth it anymore, and despite our differing opinions on many subjects, I actually respect them for this one -- 100 times more than people who sit around GC whining about how everything's changed and the whole board sucks more. It's kind of like the people who sit on their asses all day eating potato chips but then complain about how fat they are . . .

I truly think that the people who are bitching about the H and A are doing the SAME thing they complain about. I also think the H and A get a very bad rep.

Do they stick together? Yes. But, so do many other groups of friends. They just give themselves a name.

For those who are upset about not knowing who's in... It's not an unbreakable code. Hell, I know and I have only been on for about a year.

The ones that they "run" off of the board? Are they such wimps that they cannot take a little ridicule on an ONLINE chat board? Seriously. We are adults. The ignore button is there for a reason.

Do I agree with EVERYTHING posted by the H & A? No. But, neither do I agree with everything anyone else on this board posts.

If you don't like the H & A, too bad. I don't like someone on here, but it is quite evident she isn't going anywhere anytime soon. So, do what the rest of us do and suck it up!

I personally like the H & A... They have always been sweet and kind to me (and completely honest if we disagree). They have had my back on more than one occasion...

Yup. The losers have private sections and public sections. Can you believe they sweat me so much that they put up my name and info under their interests in the private section? Does this scream desperation? Of course it would.

I mean seriously they take GC and create livejournals about it, they meet in AIM chatrooms to vent about GC...it's funny.
