I'm told the same for Washington State........

Gamma Phi Beta at Alabama actually had 36 new members.

SDT did not participate in formal recruitment.

Aphigal 08-24-2004 09:26 PM

actually I think both Washington State and Auburn were both pilot campuses....

Thanks GP :) Is it just me or do people keep pissing on this SDT chapter for no reason?

Their poor chapter...nearly everyone quit or graduated last spring. They had some really sweet girls, however, and I'm still friends with some of their ex-members.

They have just acquired a stigma over the past few years, and it's hurt them. Go back 8-10 years, and they were quite strong. Of course, you can also go back 10 or 12 years and another house was the "worst" house on the row. That new McMansion did wonders for them.

Sadly, the U of Alabama sororities seem to like to have a "little guy" to kick around and put down. It used to be Alpha Xi Delta...then DG...then somebody else. I wish they had a strong Greek advisor who would get across to them that doing that hurts the entire Greek system. Men's groups can be awful one year and great the next...women are not allowed that. The "rankings" seem frozen throughout the generations.

I agree, AnchorAlumna. There are slight fluctuations from year to year, but overall, it's pretty set in stone. My chapter has had to work really hard because we're still "young" at nearly 16 years old. AXiD, DG, SigK, and APhi have all closed, and SDT is close to it...you would think that Alabama sororities would be more supportive of each other, but they're not. Definitely not a Panhellenic-spirited campus.

Zta at University of Tennessee made quota + 2 for a total of 49 girls!

Wish we still had our chapter at UA. Had one from the '30s to the early 80s, then it closed, then it opened back up for like 6 years, then closed again. It would be nice to actually meet another Alpha Xi from west Alabama... right now I'm one of like 4 known to exist on that side of the state.

zta at florida state pledged 60 girls( quota plus additions)

At LSU..... Quota was set when it was supposed to be set, using whatever formula they use. I would assume that it takes into account the number of chapters, how many girls are going through, how many girls are usually released, and how many girls drop out. The only explaination I can give is that more women were staying in recruitment throughout the week. This is good and bad news for LSU sororities. On a good note, we've all reached somewhat of a level playing field and women are not dropping out after being released from particular houses. This is what Panhellenic has been aiming for for years here. Also, the quality of students attending here in recent years has increased. In my opinion, this has to do with the TOPS scholarship (for those of you that don't know, it is similar to the Georgia HOPE scholarship). It pays tuition and sometimes extra depending on your high school GPA and ACT scores, if you are a Louisiana resident. This fact, coupled with the fact that we are National Champions (haha, I'm bragging USC fans) has caused an increase in enrollment. I know it sounds funny, but just ask my friend who works in admissions.
My first instinct was to have quota additions. That is not possible because all sororities were at their chapter total. Many of them are currently at their max when it comes to issues with the fire marshall.

I would love to extend the panhellenic spirit and welcome another sorority here.

My cousin just pledge ZTA at UT and she said that quota was 50, adn they were picking up one girl (possibly her roommate). She just joined so she may be confused (love my cousin, but this wouldn't be unusual)...anyone know for sure.

I know the ADPi's were having great return rates, but anyone know how many girls they took?

cutiepatootie 08-29-2004 11:48 AM

Does anyone know how UARK-Fayetteville did?
