New one . . . Opals/Emeralds . . .

http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll...922263901&rd=1

Welcomes objective questions but NOT questions regarding where they got them or why they are selling them?

If it bothers them to get that type of email then maybe they should stop?

EDITED to include these items:

Custom badges may be special ordered by calling the jewelry manager at HQ. There is a link from pibetaphi.org's jewelry page. The choices to think about are whether you want just two stones along the shaft or the crown shaft (12 stones) and whether you want a stone in the point (used to have a choice of anything... and maybe with a custom badge you would. The standard ones look like diamond or pearl is the only option).

If you ever go to St Louis, there is a display at HQ of heritage badges... talk about bling!!

No joke... When I was there in February, we oooh'ed and ahhh'ed. The thing I found interesting was the massive variety of old-timey guards they had. There was one shaped like a carnation that I thought was particularly cool.

This one's beautiful too, but not like the Opal one.

I had placed a bid on that one, but I didn't get it. :(

I really love that opal and emerald one, but I think it will soar out of my price range eventually. I'm the current high bidder, but I don't see that lasting long.

Okay, that "hug a Pi Phi" t-shirt is now at $47 US!

Does that seem crazy to anyone else? It's a t-shirt!

That's almost $70 Canadian!!!!!

angelove 07-21-2004 01:30 PM

After seeing the price on that, I wish I hadn't given all my old t-shirts to younger Pi Phis ...

dakareng 07-21-2004 01:38 PM

OMG-- I have one of those "Hug a Pi Phi shirts"!! Only I didn't buy mine off Ebay! They were very popular in the early 80s--

I agree, $47 is absurd for a screen printed t-shirt but people go crazy when they think something is unusual or collectable.

angelove 07-21-2004 02:47 PM

It's hard to believe something from the early '80s is "vintage." When I hear or see the word "vintage" I think of poodle skirts or space-age patterns from the '50s.

Now if you'll excuse me, I have to go check the mirror for gray hairs ...

Does anyone else think this is strange??

Perhaps it came from a chapter house. I suppose I could see a Pi Phi house having silver with letters engraved on it. Stranger things have happened.

Then again, the carving doesn't look very "professional". And if it was part of a set, you'd think the rest of it would pop up somewhere, too. Maybe someone had it specially engraved, or did it themselves for some reason.

It's only going for $9.50, so it might not be that valuable.

I think it looks a little creepy, but that's just me! Probably from a chapter house or maybe one place setting that someone had.

I'm so excited because I'm still winning the badge I'm bidding on (http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll...sPageName=WDVW). I hope, I hope, I hope I get it!

Has anyone ever bought the Pi Beta Phi matted engravings that are always for sale on ebay? I was thinking it would be really nice to have something classy and Pi Phi to put on my walls when I graduate and get a real apartment...

Here are some weird Pi Phi ebay things:

Pi Beta Phi cowboy hat:

Pi Beta Phi zebra towel:

That badge is beautiful!! I hope you get it too. I think the Pi Phi doormat is pretty tacky too out of the random stuff.

I'm sad to see there's three other badges on there, but I can't afford the opal one and I don't need another plain gold one.
