She absolutely gorgeous, she's an accomplished actress, paid...etc. But then, look at the relationships...Wesley Snipes busted her eardrum, David Justice stepped out on her darn near the day after they got married, and now Eric Benet is up to whatever he's got going on.

I guess looks can be DECEIVING.

You know... I think about this from time to time, too. I mean, when you go thru break-ups and stuff, you always think that things would be different "if." But in Halle's case, what could be different? Like you said, girlfriend is gorgeous and professionally has it going on. Most men would give a testicle to get with her. Yet, she is unlucky in love. Sometimes it can be discouraging. It's like, D@mn, if Halle ain't havin' no luck, where is the hope for the rest of us??? But I hope to God she is not messin' around with the little white boy. I mean, for real.

unfortunately, Halle is in a Sisterhood of famous Black women who are unlucky in love (Gladys, Natalie Cole, Aretha, Chaka, etc.). the only person who's on her first marriage is Whitney aka Whitless, go figure:rolleyes: it seems to me that a number of men can't deal with a successful Black woman even if in the beginning it was cool. i don't think these men could take being called Mr. "Diva" and stepped. with Halle, she's got a makeup contract, an Oscar, Emmy, Golden Globe, more movie roles, etc. bottom line, she's A-list right now. but Eric? where's his next album? when will he tour? "Mr. Halle Berry" wasn't working especially w/his more "moderate" career. i do hope she takes a nice break from men...she could use one...
side note, Ideal08, did you get my email? sorry so late. i wanted to know what yo decided...:D

I think we, as Black women especially, have to remember that those superficial things don't necessarily bring happiness, much less contentment. What could be different?? Now, I don't know girlfriend, but:
She could have a different/better personality
She could have a different attitude
She could have a different relationship with the Lord
She could have a different outlook on her relationship with her father
She could have a different outlook about what it means to be successful
She could have a different criteria for selecting men

I could go on, but you get the picture.... We have to remember that all that glitters ain't gold. We might not have the body or the face or the million dollar contracts, but we have OH SO MUCH ELSE TO OFFER!! :D

Also add Diahann Carroll to this list. I'm showing my age here -- I even had a Julia Halloween costume and could relate, because Mamatrap is a nurse. :D

Yup, that is surprising that Whitless is still with that lame CLOWN Booby Brown (hey, that rhymed :p ). And I don't know if you would call Oprah "unlucky," but she needed to have dropped her steady man Stedman years ago, IMO.

I know in many cases what you say is true WenD08, but I think sometimes we are too quick to blame the other person and say they can't handle a "strong black woman" yada yada. The danger of this is that we will continue to make bad choices, because after all, it's not our fault, it's them. I think we ALL could stand to be introspective after a break up and say "What was my ROLE in this?" not he couldn't deal with my successful/strong self. I think even if that is the case, the question becomes what lead me to choose a man who was not more secure with himself?

I heard that it has nothing to do with her success....

I heard that she is moody because she is diabetic, and I may be wrong, but she was married what... twice before or something... way before she was really famous...rumor has it that she got beat a lot by men. Heard she's practically deaf in one ear because of it.

But rumors are rumors, and they could be wrong.

I also heard that he was cheating on her with his ex before she was really really the ish with the awards and stuff.

I have met Eric Benet. Hung out with him after a concert with some friends in his room watching Jerry Lewis movies and bugging out before he got all big and whatnot. He was a really nice person... down to earth... and talked about his daughter a lot. People change, but he seemed like back then he was genuinely nice.

Soror, lol, I know plenty of genuinely nice womanizers. None quite as fine as Eric, but womanizers nonetheless. :)

We hate to admit it... but we women, can drive a man away.
From what I have heard, CRAZY is a definite turn OFF...

Nikki, here's some information about Ann "Keeping it Real" Iverson and her babypeople from the Philadelphia Inquirer:

Inqlings | Iverson's mom awaits birth of twins
By Michael Klein
Inquirer Columnist

The Iverson household is awaiting the patter of little Reeboks again.

But it's not Sixers guard Allen Iverson and his wife, Tawanna, who are expecting.

It's AI's mother, Ann Iverson, 44. She is very pregnant with twin boys and was in Texas on Friday awaiting their birth.

The babies' father is George "Jack" Jackson, a mild-mannered Army veteran who is Ann's longtime beau. The two knew each other years ago and reconnected in the mid-1990s.

Ann Iverson was 15 when Allen was born in 1975. His biological father was Allen Broughton, who abandoned Ann and Allen when his son was 3. Ann also has two daughters:Brandy, born in 1979, and Iiesha, born in 1991; their father is Michael Freeman.

If you're counting the leaves on the family tree, the twins will become uncles of Allen and Tawanna Iverson's children - daughter Tiaura, 8, and sons Allen Jr., 5, and Isaiah, born Aug. 8.
