As me for and ATKINS...I GIVE UP!! I'm joining Weight Watchers. I've lost a lot of weight with WW before. Those who are still on Atkins, continue with the updates, as I continue with mine as well. Y'all, I have to loose (sp?!) 25 lbs. by Feb. My brother is getting married to my LS. See, they were suppose to get married in June, but they got pregnant, so it has jacked things up for E'RYBODY!!! :D I'm teasing. But, I do need skrength to loose this weight!:D |
Good luck delph!
I hope you have better luck with WW! It's a good system too, and does a lot in terms of teaching people about portion control and moderation. I would suggest doing a lot of reading up on the system, etc. first though, because you apparently yo-yoed on this diet previously (lost the weight, gained it back) and you don't want to spend your money on something that won't have long term results. I didn't pay for any one diet plan when I lost my weight, what worked was reading about ALL of them, and trying to push it into something that could work for my life. And being active. Really, really active. Are you working out? Because it is much easier to say no to cheesecake when you know it will sabotage that hour of work you just put in on cardio! Don't stop posting about your progress. Quote:

Good luck with WW, delph!
I'm still hanging in there. I got some Atkins goodies at GNC yesterday, and made banana nut muffins - mmmmm :) and only 2g carbs each :) Now, to get back into a proper exercise routine, with weights and all. I've been doing a few minutes on the exercise bike now and then, and taking walks, but that's not enough. |

Necessities for a good home gym:
1. One good piece of cardio equipment (elliptical trainer/bike/treadmill/that Gazelle thing). Sears has great sales on all of these items, a fairly good quality piece of equipment for 200-500 dollars. You can find them on ebay as well, or at a local sports equipment store. For the best bargains I like sears though- you can order online and pick the item up at your local Sears. No shipping charge that way! 2. Weights- A beginner's set is 5,10,15 lbs. Anything less is really a waste of time IMO. A barbell can come in handy too for exercises like squats and deadlifts. Sears has these as well, but you can also find some fairly expensive items on ebay (bowflex, etc.- it's harder to find free weights or barbells on ebay). Caveat emptor- you will have to buy from someone in your area as shipping on 50 lbs of weights is NO JOKE. Quote:

A new Bloomingdale's opened in Atlanta over the weekend and I had the opportunity to go to to a preview day. I was so upset shopping in the "Big Girls" section I didn't know what to do! Actually I did! I went out and bought the South Beach Diet book and I am starting it this week. I need to go shopping for the right foods to get ready, but hopefully I can do that by Wednesday or Thursday. Anyone else tried this diet? I thought about doing Atkins, but the high fat content concerned me.

I became interested in it after seeing a Dateline story on diets. They profiled the Atkins, the Zone and South Beach and folks that are diet lovers, even though they are not overweight. Anyway, the experts on their panels said of all of the diets the South Beach was the healthiest for you. SB also has 3 phases, like, I think, Atkins. Hope that helps! I'll let you know how it goes! |

I hope you are past your second week of ATkins before eating those muffins. www.atkins.com shopping section and recipe section will let you know what you can have during what stage. I started back on Tuesday-10/14/03 and Saturday 10/25/03. I lost those 7 lbs plus 2 extra. I would suggest staying in induction for a month. During induction, you can have those breakfast bars, shakes, and advantage bars--NOT THE CANDY SNACKS< CHIPS< MUFFINS. I suggest go to website and see what you can have before you go out and buy anything. Also during induction stick to regular foods first. That is how I lost so quick during last week. |

In my view, it's ok to have something occasionally, for some variety - better a low-carb muffin than one laden with sugar. But you can't overdo the treats, or allow them to set off a carb-fest. If you think that's going to happen, don't have the treat. |
I'm starting again...pray for me....Day 1

Hi sorry to board crash and to revive an old post, but I wanted to say that I have been off Atkins since I started living in the house because of all the spaghetti and the potatoes every night and gained about 8 of my 16 pounds back...
I got fed up tonight and started back up. Wish me luck. |
