ok, to kind of clarify what I thought ol' denny was trying to say.....
1) he said between bush and saddam......meaning that they both could very well be bad, but between the two, bush has yet to throw any chem weapons our way
2)has iraq followed orders? they say they have.....or something.....but i find it hard to really believe what saddam says is happening.....that guy is a crack head!!! (if anyone is offended by crack head, please omit and replace it with "evil dictator." ;) )
3) it's funny....c'mon.......:D
4)...just saying if you're against the war and that's your big reason behind it...he sees no relation
5)the relation between saddam and bin laden is that they are both hostile towards us and would like nothing better than to see us all dead.....in this instance, denny feels that we ARE above the UN and we SHOULD take this action as both self-defense (remember 9/11 or the first PG war?) as well as helping the iraqi ppl get away from saddam's craziness
6)is a joke like the french mil. victory thing....the west wing....c'mon ;)

Apparently I have been deluding myself into thinking I am intelligent and brilliant for reading something and finding the humor in it. Great, so glad to see so much open hostility and unwillingness to welcome others ideas here at GC, an open forum for fellow Greeks to discuss issues and opinions.

So with that said, I'm done with this post, I'm done with GC. I'm tired of people here feeling the need to validate themselves by attacking other people. I see enough of that in RL, I don't need it in cyberspace as well. I agree wholeheartedly with what Virtuous Erudite said before inasmuch as the attacking of people because of a post on a web board is asinine, and I quote him here, as I don't want anyone to take this out of context: "I think it is ridiculous that ANYONE and I mean anyone whether for this war or against is has had the audacity to call anyone a dumbass, ignorant, stupid, curse at or belittle anyone because they don't happen to agree with your opinion. "

So quite honestly I've had enough belittling for one day, no, let me rephrase myself lest I be misunderstood yet again, I've had enough belittling from people that I don't know and who don't know me, for the remainder of my lifetime. Good luck to all of you in the future, regardless of your opinions.

Read my post again, please. I said it was perfectly reasonable to see the humor in it. The French line I even found funny myself. But I thought the Dennis Miller list was pretty clearly not an intelligent piece. It was designed to entertain, not to inform.

I honestly hope you do not leave GC entirely just because of one post. If it really offended you that much, I'm sorry . . . I would advise staying out of the more obviously political threads (I definitely do on days when I know I'm feeling oversensitive) if you are easily offended, but I definitely don't think you should leave the board entirely. There are people who would miss you here!

I certainly don't think that anybody should take what they read on an internet message board as an attack on character, because nobody online has any idea what your character is actually like.

I've been AWOL on this thread for a while, so here is my piece.
I never intended to hi-jack this thread and turn part of it into a debate on Canadian Foreign policy. That being said, don't call me on for my citizenship, in any way, shape or form. Joke or no joke stuff is alot more serious right now. we all have to watch our tounges. If you want to discuss the participation of the world, or in Canada in specific, i suggest sombody open a thread. i for one don't give two shits. I am in essence trying to back down fro an argument, not because there isn't fact to argue, but because at this point it isn't necessary to argue it. Like i said, call my citizenship on again and you will recieve a not so nicely worded response. Thats it

One of the reasons I enjoy heated political discussions about war and politics here on GC is because things are so different where I'm coming from. I do not personally know ANYONE (that includes classmates, professors, coworkers, friends, supervisors, parents, grandparents, siblings, other family members, veterans, active duty, Americans, foreign-born citizens, etc.) who supports this war, and I've been very confused about exactly who makes up this 70% of those who support the war. GC is actually the only forum (real life or cyberspace) where I can discuss the war with those who actually support it. I haven't really received any personal attacks, but when I have, I've simply let them roll off my back--as I do in real life. If someone belittles me, it's their problem--not mine. Leaving during a heated argument does nothing to support my argument, and if I felt it did, I wouldn't feel as if I were a mature adult.

I think arguing about something like this is pretty senseless anyway (I mean, unless you just want to get a rise out of folks). We don't have all of the facts. We don't know Bush's true intentions. We don't know what REALLY is going on over there. We can't prove anything on either side until the end of the war. People are just talking out of their a$$es meanwhile.

I just hope something good comes out of all of this war, perhaps a lesson in humility at least.

For whom? Just wondering.
