lol
You sound about as bad as my husband.

Okay, all jokes aside. So, with Giardia, it can be transmitted between animals and humans. I mean, the risk of transmission from pets to humans is generally low. But Giardia duodenalis is the species that infects both animals and humans. It’s like made up of different genetic assemblages. Assemblages A and B are known to infect humans, while other assemblages are typically host specific to animals. When I speak of assemblages, I’m referring to distinct genetic groups within the species, from A-H, which exhibit different host specificities. If you want me to tell you what those are, I’ll be more than happy to. But anyway, while zoonotic transmission is possible, most Giardia infections are host specific, and direct transmission between pets and humans is uncommon.

With pinworms, they’re species specific. You can get them by not washing your hands. They spread through fecal-oral transmission. So, you’d have to ingest their eggs in order to get infected. So like, let’s say you’re at work, and someone (infected) you work with scratched their butt the night before without washing their hands, then shakes your hand or touches your mouse on your computer, then you touch your mouth after contact, you could swallow the eggs and get infected. The eggs can live on surfaces for like 2-3 weeks, so you should wipe down surfaces you come in contact with. The eggs cause severe itching around the anus which makes people scratch there, and then they spread it. I mean, they’re simple to get rid of, but it’s just better to not get them at all, because that’s really gross.

This is the nastiest shit (pun intended) I’ve ever read. I almost hate I asked. How common are those worms, CG? That’s the only thing I worry about with pets is me getting one of these parasites from them. I’m glad my ass isn’t itching, but if it was, y’all wouldn’t know about it. Is it the eggs being covered in microscopic shit that causes the itching? As long as it’s a parasite I can’t see, I wouldn’t be as bothered by it mentally.

You couldn’t pay me double what I make in my field to be in the medical field. I have a very weak stomach. My brother (a dentist) gave me a brief description of the food he sees in his patients mouths and when he got to the scrambled eggs and Wheaties, I didn’t have the appetite to eat for two days.

Man, finally getting around to doing some model painting was just what I needed for some relaxation. Having a mind-numbing task that also gives a feeling of accomplishment is a wonderful way to spend the evening.

Hilarious!

They’re very common. And just because your butt isn’t throwing a tantrum, Phrozen, that doesn’t mean they’re not living inside you, rent free. Some people show no symptoms at all. I mean, if you’re sleeping at night, aren’t irritated all the time, don’t have any nausea or stomach issues, or you’re not seeing “thread” in your stool, then you probably don’t have them.

And it’s not the eggs themselves that cause the itching, it’s kind of like an adhesive the female uses to attach the eggs to crevices on your butt. She comes out of the anus, mostly at night and uses like a sticky substance so the eggs don’t fall off. When you scratch, the eggs get under your fingernails and on your hands. Your skin gets irritated by the adhesive and reacts to it, not the eggs themselves. So, it’s less “sticky” and more like “why does my butt hate me right now.” lol.

Lmao! Do you talk to your customers about their pets health like that, CG? I’d be laughing too hard to be able to pay attention to what I need to know.

I don’t have any of those symptoms, except irritation, but that’s from lack of sex. I need a chick and some ass Lol! For real. That’d clear up the irritation quick Lol

I couldn’t do it either.

Only when their pets have a sense of humor, or when the owners look like they could use a good laugh. I save my serious side for surgeries most of the time.

Sounds like you’re overdue for a behavioral enrichment program, Phrozen. Might I suggest marking your territory at a bar or something and seeing who sniffs back? :p

WIFLSRN: Staycations go by far too fast. I am not at all looking forward to going back to work Monday. Ugh!

I live in New Orleans, within walking distance of the attack.

My family, neighbors, and local friends are safe. The city is back open for business, and the Sugar Bowl happened (postponed to today), but y’all … we’re still in shock.

I completely expect that shock will take a while to lift. Take care of yourself.

I think they’re still looking for a motive. He had a newborn, too.
