Imitators, please read my sig.

And, many thanks to Delta Sigma Theta for the use of your forum! You ladies are very kind!!!!

Oh my gracious mercy...now this organization is naming their graduate/professional chapters in the style of Theta Nu Xi.

and...hmmm...the new president of one of their chapters is awfully familiar

New Sorority/Fraternity

Ok...basically I am speechless. I am still trippin' on "the Bruhs" and I have to agree, if you don't want to be apart of D9...why use any signs even remotely close to the existing ones that were created by "TRUE FOUNDERS"?

WOW! What an interesting thread. Even during my lurking years I did not see this...LOL

I appreciate you bumping this up. I learned quite a bit from this thread.

It's similar to the "Buffalo Stance" popularized by Neenah Cherry back in the day, except it's done by folks at Ivy League schools and chicks named Ivy.

If you didn't want to tell me, that's fine. If it's something that only AKAs should know about, that's fine, too. But, don't try to clown me. I've not done anything to warrant that. I only wanted to know what it was so my org did not inadvertantly bite it.

AKA_Monet 05-15-2007 02:43 AM

Please see me...

Your post has been found not to be germaine to this discussion. Please privately message me, immediately to rectify this situation. Thanks.

Ooooook. Apparantly, your question was serious, (even though your approach didn't seem so, as it pertains in NO WAY to this thread)cso I'll give you a more serious answer.

From your above reply, you seem to know more about your inquiry than you let on. For one, you must have realized that it is something that may not quite be public knowledge if a simple Google or GC search could not have supplied the information that you seek.

Secondly, if it is something that you presume to be specific to Alpha Kappa Alpha, why post over on DST Ave. and not simply PM a member of Alpha Kappa Alpha? You can approach us with questions that pertain to our org. Go directly to the source.

Lastly, you know that you didn't create the "ivy stance," so instantly, on some level, you knew you would be "biting." If your org. wishes to do something, do it. Your concern should not be whether you are "biting" off of another org. It's nearly 100 years since Alpha Kappa Alpha was founded, as well as the founding of the other D9 sororities. After nearly a century, there is hardly anything new under the sun. It's all been done.

With that said, do what feels right for your org. and don't worry about everyone else. Make your org. independently great. Good luck! ;)

Seeing as how several previous posters mentioned the "ivy stance" in their posts, referring to the GLBT sorority photos, I felt it was germaine to the discussion. No disrespect to you, but I will not privately message you because there is nothing to "rectify"; I am not a wayward child in need of chastising and I find your comment condescending. I just asked a simple question out of curiosity and the desire not to inadvertantly offend (which obviously I did, but in a different way). Nothing more, nothing less.

All I wanted to know was what the ivy stance was. That's it. No disrespect meant when I say this, but I didn't ask for all the extra information and opinion you gave in your reply.

This is the last I'm going to say about this, because it truly was not my intent to corrupt a thread or a forum. So, I consider this matter to be closed. I will; however, be more mindful of where I post org-specific questions from now on.

christiangirl 05-15-2007 11:47 PM

This made me laugh. I saw this somewhere else on the net and it made me  but now I'm just laughing.

You didn't have to ask for it. It was information that I provided for you as a treat! :D And since you consider the matter to be closed, I'll reserve further comments.

To save you humiliation, I was trying to be kind so as you will not be embarassed to ask such an assinine question as you did.

Because you lack discretion and disrespected my Sorority and Delta Sigma Theta Sorority, Inc. by posting some inane association you will have YET get any answers to your questions.

You are now hearby labeled as an renegade and perpetrator. You have yet to feel chastised and yes, I am treating you as beneath me for your retorts.

Curiousity killed the cat and you have offended simply because you choose remain ignorant of both Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority, Inc. and Delta Sigma Theta Sorority, Inc. and our topmost posts on ethics rules.

Continue your belittling of me or any of my sorors or other members of the D9 greeks, and I hope we can have a intellectual encounter.

To the sistahgreeks of DST: I am tired of this lunacy. PM me if you like to discuss.
