You'd have to get permission to drop her - and it would have to be something like she told the person who preffed her that she's pregnant - you find out she's out on bail from a drug arrest or something along those lines. I'm talking about what would qualify as a "no" rec and just learned at the last minute....

Excitement!!!! One more day!!!! War Eagle!

I specifically told my daughter not to stab anyone or set the chapter house on fire ;-)

Good advice for rush and in every day life! :-)

My dau has 3 pref parties today. Her #1 pick cut her today but she is going to 2,3,4. Its hard for them to see how truly fortunate they are to have 3 parties, mine is lingering on the cut. Hopefully she'll snap out of it when she gets into her parties, and sees that theses want her to be a sister!! Truthfully, they are all good chapters, and she could fit easily into any of them, including the ones who cut her. There are so many girls that get cut only because they don't fit into the 'numbers' for parties, its harsh.
So....here's hoping we have fun at the parties, and her bid tomorrow is what she'd like. With this astrophysic algorithm formula they use now, do they match them from the top of the sorority's bid list to the girl's 1,2,3 picks? I'm guessing that is the most reasonable way to do it. |
ICS gurus, please correct me if I'm wrong:
Generally speaking (and without getting super complicated), the computer program is set up to try and match the PNM to their #1 choice first. If the #1 is unavailable (as in, she's not high enough on the list and they match quota before they come to her name), then the program moves on to #2 and attempts to match with #2, and if the same thing happens, on to #3. |
Great news! Please keep us updated!

KSUViolet you are exactly correct.

She should be fine. It's easy to linger on being cut when you're waiting to get ready and/or getting ready. It's a lot harder to linger about the cut when you go to parties at houses you already like and see how wonderful their pref parties are. |
Thanks all for the encouragement and helpful advice!! I went through 30 years ago, 1982, so things are different, yet still the same. I'll just say it-you could be cut for any number of inane reasons, like your hair or your dress or your attitude or seeming too needy or just cause they didn't like you. We all know its the truth. But there has to be reasons to make those cuts because each chapter can't give a bid to everyone as they'd like to. With that said, the cuts have been harsh this year, lots of terrific girls going through. Lots of girls getting bids, lots of girls not really liking those bids at first, but they'll love their new sisters later on!!!
I will be soooo glad when tomorrow morning comes around. We are out of state but very close so we'll be going over for Bid Day!! Hey, and even being out of state has some bearing on those cuts, darn, I knew she should have gone to UGA!! LOL Well not really, WAR EAGLE!! |
Oh and to let you know how harsh cuts were....my dau's roomie is an in-house legacy and legacy, 2 different chapters. Got cut from both today. So sad.
|
oh, it's sad when an in-house legacy is cut.:(
|
Ouch! Must not still be in the chapter or if she is the two don't get along.....
|
I can't believe they waited until preference to release her. Very sad indeed.
|
Well, they have to release her by then or she goes at the top of their bid list - as all legacies do that get to pref. I'd say it's not as strong a statement as if they had released her after the first day.
