Because some of us make mistakes. And don't want to quote several pages of preaching.

You dismissed the concerns of kids on the Virginia Tech campus because they thought they'd seen a gun-like object that was covered by some sort of cloth. You did this despite knowing exactly why Virginia Tech would be sensitive to the issue of someone carrying the gun.

I work with people who carry guns, I work with people who hunt. It's not super special differing opinions, it's your repeated dumbass comments that are offensive or flat out wrong.

Oh yeah, or just plain stupid:

I'll be carrying. What I'm not carrying is in my gun safe. Please wear a big sign that tells me you don't want me to attempt to save you, in the extremely unlikely event it is necessary.

When you can articulate your point in some sort of reasonable way, feel free. That thread is still waiting from a response from you that provides any sort of evidence to your point.

The fact that you're "involved" in crafting legislation speaks absolute volumes. Libraries even.

And then some wonder where greeks get the reputation they sometimes have.
Lol, yeah cause you're not trying to be catty right now and failing like whoa.

Girl you haven't even finished reading my preaching yet. Don't play.

You have so much vested interest in someone you claim to not really know. Listen Wary (because I am no longer going to refer to you as shirley), go away. You screwed up and now you want to blame the poor results of recruitment on us. I also doubt you went to college and joined a sorority or, like Drolefille pointed out, you would tell us where you went and what GLO you belong to. Otherwise, you are just looking even more like a sock puppet.

Wary (shirley) = fail.
Everyone else = pass.

It is important to note that shirley1929 has been a member of GC since July 2009, and Wary joined in February 2011. I'm not saying it's out of the realm of possibilities to create a sock before your "real" name, but it's a bit unusual.

God, yes. When you take into account all the rules, TWOP is North Korea compared with GC. (This very thread, for example, would violate "boards on boards.")

I don't know--I started posting on TWOP when I was just barely 16 (over 7 years ago!) and have never been dressed down by any posters there--and I've held some pretty unpopular opinions. I think GC is much more "grouped" than TWOP ("old guard" focused) where a certain group of posters are assumed to have greater authority or a greater sense of Greek life or even GC-specific mores. I don't think this is an uncommon issue on internet fora, and I think in some ways, it may even be good in that it retains membership and forms a strong sense of loyalty among frequent posters, but I do think it can seem like dogpiling on new members, and it can make it hard if you disagree with "old guard" posters.

Also, it's saddens me that TWOP makes everything more on-topic now--I loved all the free ranging conversations about everyone's personal lives through the lens of the TV.

That's exactly the kind of thing I'm talking about. People might make an aside about their lives and get banned because OMG! THAT'S NOT ON TOPIC! It's ridiculous. Then again, the fact that Bravo owns the damn site (or at least advertises on it) is even more ridiculous.

I can't recall a time when it wasn't moderated with an iron keyboard, which is why I've always just lurked. Wing Chun and Miss Alli, anyone?

Agreed. Still it's fun reading over there. Anyone else admit to lurking on the Little House thread?
