Go Frog!

AlphaFrog 05-21-2011 04:45 PM

Three developments over the past two days:

1. My daughter booked a NASCAR print ad. Yay!

2. I have become an official talent scout for the agency.

3. At my scout training, the photo shoot stylist came down and said they were short a makeup artist. The agency director said she didn't have anyone to call in - I volunteered...so I spent my afternoon doing makeup - and I did a dang good job. The director loved all of my looks.:D

Also, after I get back from the ITS Convention, the agency director wants me to become an official (PAID!) coach for next season.

Still no prospect of quitting the day job in sight - but every step into the industry helps!

EXCELLENT! Congratulations!

July Update

Finally updated the blog for the first time in a long time.

I've got an audition I'm waiting to hear back from right now, and my son just had an audition yesterday with the same company where my daughter had her first paying job. It would be pretty cool if they both had the same first paying job. I wasn't sure at first that he was going to warm up to this - he had said he wanted to go after we got the call from the agency that this company wanted him, but when he got there and they started test shooting, he said he was scared. However, after about 10 minutes and them rotating people in and out of the pictures, suddenly you couldn't keep him OUT of the pictures.:D

This is a newer photo of my little guy:

Just got back from the International Talent Showcase.

I placed Top 5 in BOTH the TV Commercial and Monologue competitions.

And gratuitous pic with the Overall Male Winner:

I had several callbacks from well known agents in NYC and LA. My daughter had a callback from a HUGE Fashion Agent in Washington DC. We've opened a dialogue with a few of them, and have a few items to get taken care of (suggestions for improvement, etc). Overall, I was pleased with how things went!

I also came home to an offer for my kids and I to be in a Made In Charlotte Film Competition entry. My kids will be playing siblings, and my character is not at all related to them (not surprisingly).

Lastly (for now) I have (at the suggestion of one of the professionals) created a Facebook Fan Page, so come "Like" me!

Congrats to you on your accomplishments!

Looking at your competition- really, these people want to be models and spokespeople? None of them look like a model or spokesperson. The people in these photos look like normal, every day people.

Yes...they are normal, everyday people. I'm in the Commercial Division. Commercial models are the kind of people you see in grocery store flyers, cold medicine commercials, PSAs, bank brochures, employee training manuals, etc. It's really more acting than modeling. They aren't looking for 5'11" size 2 exotic beauties...they're looking for girl-next-door who can sell a product.

However, high-fashion model Mega Gouviea with Ford Models (shot for Vogue, Cosmo, Seventeen etc all numerous times) was there, and without the clothes and makeup, she was kind of ordinary looking, albeit a little tall and thin.

Bumping my stale "Yay Me!" thread to post that I got my official acceptance letter to the NY Film Academy. Yes, it was a formality since I had a scholarship, but still :D:D

Also, my latest recital video: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=SLXngXt1boI

If you've never heard The Girl in 14G and you're a Broadway (Opera, jazz) fan, you're in for it. :)

Well, of course I am familiar with sister Kristin Chenoweth's version :) - love yours, too!
