MC 2012!

I'm collecting a whole deck of cards. ;)

Cannot stand LIVER!!! Used to eat it until I was 4 years old, asked Momma what it was and she told me it was liver, then uuuuuhhhhhhnnnnn! Nope didn't eat it anymore. However, on liver and rice night, I'd eat rice, gravy, and veggies. Momma never said anything and we kept on living.

Cannot stand brussel sprouts--years later learned am allergic to cabbage.
Used to hate tomatos, then learned to like them, then learned was HIGHLY allergic to them! DAMN!
Cannot stand Cream of Wheat! Disgusting!
Hate to High Hell Potted Meat! OMG I could got into a thorough tantrum/rant about this stuff!
Wouldn't eat peanut butter and jelly sandwiches for years.
Don't really care/like biscuts.
Love making sweet potato pie, but won't eat it, made it so much over the years, just don't care for it anymore. Same for cornbread.
Live where Russell Stover candies are famous, hate them to hell! They taste like stale chocolate with crap inside.
Cannot stand Texas Burger--funny thing is I live in Texas!
Never did like/care for anything spicy.
Cannot stand oatmeal or most of today's children's cereals (lucky charms etc) because if I wanted a bowl of sugar, I'd eat the sugar straight from the bag.

Love Wenchell's Doughnuts! Haven't had one in 22years!
Love good made hogs head cheese!
Love cold soup, straight from the can!

This falls in the won't try category of things: crawfish or liverwurst.

Psi U MC Vito 09-23-2009 06:05 PM

Why not crawfish? Not all that different from any other shell fish.

I didn't know Wenchell's Doughnuts were still around. I think I was like 4 when they got bought out. Or so I thought.

I have those allergies too! But I have to ask, what is potted meat?

Potted Meat is like vienna sasuages mashed up without the skin. I don't know but it's just something about the texture of it that makes my skin crawl!

Didn't discover most of my allergies until I was 26 years old through my dr's testing for my nasal allergies.

When I visited Cali in 08, I think there were still a few around. I didn't really look around LA. The last time I had them, I was 12 years old and the nearest one was in LaCanada-Flintridge, up by Pic N Save. Again, I haven't had one in 22 years. They are the West Coasts equalavent (sp) of Krispy Kreme in the South.

Growing up in Texas, I heard about them, but we never had them. My grandfather grew up in Louisiana and I guess he loved em, but never ate them around us.
When I went to school down South, heard many people rave about them. However, in their raving about them, they constantly were talking about sucking the head. At that point, UUUUHHHHH NO! It's just something about looking at it's eyes and planning on eating that--UUUUHHHH NO!

I guess I'm late to this thread's party.

I didn't realize food was trendy...maybe it's because I'm in southern California, but most of those ethnic foods I've been eating since I was a kid.

Anyhow...stuff I hate that it seems others like)food, products and other):

-The vast majority of country music esp. certain songs. I just can't deal with songs about tractors, barbeque stains on white tee-shirts, etc...

- Jagermeister. A lot of people like it, I'm not sure why. The smell reminds me of green NyQuil.

- Menudo (the soup not the group) I like a lot of Mexican foods, but really dislike this one. I think it's the tripe.

- Chocolate ice cream. I love chocolate, I like chocolate in my ice cream, on my ice cream, and even mixed with vanilla ice cream, but I don't like it all by itself. I also prefer my chocolate shakes made with vanilla ice cream and chocolate syrup, but that is because I am just weird like that. It was a habit I developed while working at Ben and Jerry's through college.

- Applebee's/Hometown Buffet/ Carino's/ Olive Garden/ various other large chain restaurants - sure I can go for a drink, but people I know swear by these places and I just find them pretty sub-par. I'm more about family owned small restaurants in general. I do have to give it to Olive Garden, their breadsticks with alfredo sauce are tasty. That's about all I like there though.

- Texting - I'd prefer to actually speak with someone and for me there is rarely something so important that I must say that I feel the need to type it out instead of just tell someone in a conversation at some point later. My only exception to this is when my husband sends me funny texts randomly that I've been saving on my phone for a year so far.

- Twitter - It's over-blown and makes some really lame people feel self important because they have followers.

- Skinny Jeans - I'm not a big girl by any stretch of the imagination. Heck, I'm not even the average sized American, but they make it look like I have a giant ass and huge hips. Boo on skinny jeans.

- Rachael Ray and Sandra Lee - I really despise both of these women. Their food just does not look appetizing and I don't like how either of them speak. EVOO? Yum-o? = Lame-o Sandra Lee needs to suck a bullet, she over emphasizes words and says "soooo amazing/great/good/other adjective here" and it just irritates me.

That's all that I can think of at the moment.

I can understand some foods being "trendy," so to speak - but the ones listed don't seem trendy to me.

Plus, I LOVE good Indian food. It's one of my favorite types of foods.

Agreed - you can find good family-owned places in most cities and towns that are better than the chains. That goes especially for Olive Garden; go to the local pizza joint, and you'll get better quality Italian food.

Haha...a bit judgmental on the Twitter subject, huh?

aggieAXO 09-25-2009 01:55 PM

I have never had liver or eaten crawfish and never will-sounds unappetizing
I don't like anything wheat, must be white bread only
can't drink coffee-gives me migraines
dislike cheesecake, Indian food
never really liked meat, chicken or pork (stopped eating meat at 16)
no watermelon either-yuck
coconut makes me nauseous
and I don't text

I couldn't agree more. The way she says any word that begins with an L totally pisses me off. And her recipes aren't that great. I've tried three of them and they were just ok, at best.

Ah, a man after my own heart. ;) I grew up eating Indian food. Kheema and basmati rice = aephi alum's comfort food.

Anyway...

I love rice. When I was on the Atkins diet, rice was my biggest high-carb temptation. However, I hate anything made with rice - rice cakes, cream of rice, risotto, Rice Krispies treats, etc. Just the smell of a rice cake makes me gag.
