That_70s, this story has been such fun to read! Thank you for sharing... and I'm happy that you ended up where you knew you belonged. :)

I am sorry if you think that a few posts hijacked your thread. Most veteran GCers know that I maintain a database thread that lists every NPC chapter at every college with Greek life in the US and Canada. (You can find it stickied in the recruitment forum.) By doing so, it isn't too difficult to put two and two together. Violetpretty is another GCer who shares my interest in that kind of data.

I believe that my own NPC is one of the "oh, dear" chapters on your campus. Despite that, I don't think it affects whether or not you reveal your campus or the names of chapters. This was 30 years ago. It's not a big deal.

Thanks for the nostalgia ride! That was indeed what a big state university rush was like in the 70's. Though my campus had 13 NPC chapters back I don't think it was JSU....I can't guess the identities of either JSU or "Donna," but I'm glad that your experience turned out so well.

i too was a fall 1975 rushee who greatly enjoyed(and identified with) the detail of that 70's rush. thanks for the great ride!

I was also a fall 1975 rushee. I didn't even remember there were recruitment counselors until I looked at my Greek booklet when my daughter went through (at the same university) recruitment in 2002. I distinctly remember my impressions of each sorority, though. I also knew nothing about sororities, and only went through because my roommate wanted me to walk across campus with her to sign up. I can remember, oddly enough, outfits that a couple of the sororities were wearing. I'll never forget the ADIIs in their safari clothes. I also remember there was food and skits every night. We had token gifts: flowers, name tags, napkins, but no large gifts were given. We didn't receive phone calls, only invitations that we picked up immediately before parties. My roommate, a double legacy, was cut by her legacy sorority, but somehow, her mom got her name back on the invite list. Yep, true story. I heard her talking to her mom on the phone, and I also heard her talking to the Dean of Women when she got that call. My dorm and a few others actually had sunroofs, and yes, people started laying out in February. It was really fun reading about your rush experience. There were so many similarities. I loved rush in the 70s.

^^ The Safari Outfits! We didn't do them, and how I wish we did - I was soooo jealous of the chapters who did the Lion Hunt!
