I may be a little late but talking about the whole split between Ole Miss and MSU thing but... State and Ole Miss have very different greek systems. I have a lot of friends that go to State (girls and guys) and they constantly talk about the big 2 (fraternity wise) Sigma Chi and Kappa Sig. I've been to MSU a lot and I know there are other good fraternities but those are the largest and most well respected on campus and frankly the only 2 that even come close to the size of some of the Ole Miss fraternities (still 100 or so members below the largest at Ole Miss). Ole Miss has a more diverse greek system with arguably a top 5 or 6 fraternities and greek life is a much bigger deal at Ole Miss. This can be said to go back to the "elitist" attitude at Ole Miss, but our greek system is much stronger than that of Mississippi State

EDIT: After I typed it I realized why it was so boring. It was a 12:30 game, so there were very few students tailgating, and everyone knew they were going to lose. |
well said phigam... and hopefully next year... but even if we don't it's still one of the most amazing places ever

well yea phi gam, but we are talking LSU here, and the tail gaiting is pretty much near the top, but with any big school you will have douchebags that dont know good culture.

Tailgating at Ole Miss is really overrated. It's too tame and boring. None of them care about the game, so it's not even like there are two different schools there. It reminds me of a church picnic.
They have some good-looking girls, great food, and over the top decorations (floral arrangements in red, white, and blue?, christmas light chandeliers?), but that's not tailgating to me. I can't quite put my finger on it, but I've been to every SEC school for a football game except Arkansas and Mississippi State, and the only one more boring than Ole Miss is Vanderbilt. The Grove can't be beat though. Everyone is there. |

I don't think you've been to the right tents in the Grove if you think it's boring. It's 10 acres of people getting inebriated, and we care about the game but we're really bad so we just get drunk and try not to get our hopes up... but that should change this year. But i can see what you're saying i guess... the Grove is classy tailgating so to some that could be interpreted as boring

Ha, Grove... Classy Tailgating... Funny
