An 11-year-old girl at our middle school (I work at the elementary school) was killed yesterday in a hit-and-run. I and the whole school community are extremely saddened by the loss of this child and the grief of our kids and her family. I also just found out that she is the older sister of one of my students-- a six-year-old and the sweetest, happiest kid I ever met. I don't know how to support this little one in going through something so much harder than anything I've ever gone through. Please pray for all of us and especially her family. Also pray for the person who hit this child and kept on driving, for whatever is going on in his/her mind and soul that would allow him/her to do this, and for forgiveness from God and her loved ones.

Seriously_Sweet 06-06-2008 11:13 AM

Soror, I can't imagine. Everyone touched by this tragedy will be in my prayers. Also, if you would, please keep my best friend's family in your prayers. Her grandparents' house was broken into and EVERYTHING was taken, and the house is destroyed. Pray that what is not recovered in material possessions, will be restored through comfort and peace of mind. Thanks, ladies. Be blessed!

I sent off my resume for two positions. ONE of them is for me!! I am claiming a job in the name of the Lord!! I need everyone to pray that I get something because I really need a breakthrough!!

And stay prayerful that I pass this bar exam the first time!!! :D

08shalom 06-29-2008 01:22 AM

and more prayers

Perfected Shalom-

My Dad passed away this week and it really hurts! He and I had planned to do road tripping back home to Addis Ababa, Ethiopia after the rainy season ends in August before my next "adventure" in life....I am a Daddy's Girl and this truly hurts where I can only breath in short gasps. I don't know how my Mom is able to stand (well, yes I do, it's because of Christ, Jesus). I know it goes without asking to have you all pray for me --- so I'll just say "thank you for holding my name up in prayer!"

I'mJustMe 06-29-2008 02:32 PM

My prayers go out to those who are grieving and those who are claiming their new job in advance. (I fit both these catagories!) Also the family that had everything stolen from them. May God keep us wrapped in his love. He can bundle me tightly right now! :-)

AKA_Monet 06-29-2008 03:42 PM

Prayers sent up to all those who need them!!! May God bring blessings upon you!

cutielocks08 06-30-2008 01:37 AM

I know my little prayer sounds trivial to some but here it is because I know that God listens to all of our concerns:

I pray that the Lord disposes of this upcoming case that I've been dealing with for over a year.

I am also praying for a kind and loving husband as well as a baby. I know it will come in God's time, but I sure hope that God's time is soon since I'm now almost 38 years old.

I pray that for all who are grieving or hurting here who are reading this board that God grant them peace, consolation and healing in their time of need.

I also thank the Lord for all the wonderful blessings He has bestowed thus far.

My mentee and friend of UH Law (Class of 2008) passed away yesterday. She was only 24 years old and was turn 25 the day she finished taking the Texas Bar Exam. I am at a loss for words and very sad. Please pray for her family, her friends, her Sorors (she was a Delta from Univ. of Texas), her law school classmates, and all those she touched with her life. She was a remarkable woman and would have been a great attorney.

Little32 07-04-2008 09:16 AM

^^How unfortunate. ((((unspoken)))).

I'm asking everyone to pray for a close friend of mine, Sabrina. She's not at her best right now. Sabrina and I met in 2000, and I don't know what I'd do without her.

Sorors and Sisterfriends---Thank you for your prayers, positive energy and pure-thought-vibes for me during my days of mourning. I know I don't post often; however, I am truly thankful for being able to come to GC when I am down, need encouragement or need a cyberhug and smile.

Please pray for those of us who are preparing for hurricane Gustav.

nikki1920 08-31-2008 08:12 PM

For those of you who didn't know, lilnikki1920's dad was killed in a motorcycle crash on May 31 in Kansas. She starts school on Tuesday and we always made a big deal of the first day of school. This will be the first of many without Daddy so please pray for strength and guidance for her and that we will be able to help each other get through this.

Gustav

Let's remember all of our sisters, friends, family and others on the coast. Many have already made their way as far north as Kentucky, Missouri and Tennessee so there may be needs in those areas.

Please pray for the Georgetown family. An African American Junior is missing and presumed drowned off the coast of South Africa.

I made it through the hurricane safely so I am thankful for that. Please continue to pray for those who lost their homes, lost loved ones, and those who are still without power.

Bar results come out Friday.

While I TRULY believe that I passed and the Lord has not given me a spirit of fear, the devil keeps trying to work on me and trying to make me worried and nervous. I do think that it's more anxiety than nerves. I'm just ready to know!

I'm asking that everyone lift me up in prayer because I haven't been worried all this time and I don't want to start being worried now. I KNOW I passed! But extra prayers can't hurt! ;)

I am keeping everyone in my prayers. I know the feeling of losing loved ones because I just lost my mother three months ago. That is why I have not on Greek Chat in a while because I am dealing with things that my mother had and wating for answers to come through. Please pray for me. I am going through a VERY rough patch and it's taking its toll on me. I am taking it day by day, refusing to allow 2009 to be a repeat of 2008. I REALLY am struggling right now, in more ways than one, and I need your prayers.

When you get a chance, please listen or read the words to the song, Stand By Me. In going through times and tribulations, this song will help you to know that He is always right there standing RIGHT besides you, even when you can hardly stand up on your own two feet!
If you get a chance, please read Psalm 68, focus on verses, 1-4, 11-14, and 19-23. I pray and hope that you will be comforted by these words and blessings from Him above.

Soror:

You are in my prayers. Psalm 91 walked me through the valley of "hell" in 1990-1992. Psalm 91 allowed me to keep my eyes on the Almighty less I would have lost my natural mind. Psalm 91 taught me to rest in the fullness of God's refuse and His place of safety until I could stand boldly again and watch with my own eyes, the goodness of the LORD. Psalm 91 carried me until I could sing the song of Psalm 92!

Although you struggle today, continue to lean on HIM, continue to pray, continue to rely on others to help you through. All the residue from 2008, will pass and it will not harm you. You will stand and see the salvation of the LORD promised and you will flourish in 2009!

RedefinedDiva 01-21-2009 12:51 AM

Thank you all for the prayers and kind words. I'm about to get on those verses RIGHT NOW!!

24-year-old SMU grad shot, killed outside Dallas club

A 24-year-old SMU graduate was fatally shot outside a downtown Dallas nightclub early Sunday morning when someone from a passing vehicle fired into a crowd, police said.

Jessica Chanč Waldron was waiting with a friend outside the 2026 Ultra Lounge on Commerce Street about 2:20 a.m. for a valet to return with their car, police said.

Witnesses told police they heard multiple gunshots.

“I’ve been hit,” Waldron said before she fell to the ground.

She was taken to Baylor University Medical Center at Dallas, where she underwent surgery for the wound to her stomach area. She died about noon Sunday.
